i've been on ortho tri-cyclen lo for about 2 years but it makes me sick in the morning just like pregnancy morning sickness. If i wake up too early in the morning ....OMG it's a horrible feeling. I can sleep it out sometimes...but if i wake up i'll be hurling for the next hour. just the smell of food cooking or the feeling of my PJ's waistband on my stomach make me nauseous. I told my gyno about it but he says he doesnt want to switch it up this close to the wedding b/c it would just make my hormones go crazy (just imagine breakouts and your period on your special day). Anyway i was wondering if anyone else does this? and if you know of anything that can reduce nausea the let me know! I don't have a job right now, but if i did it would be a major problem when it comes to getting up in the morning. i would have to call in sick constantly lol!
Taking it in the daytime doesnt help i just feel sick all evening, peptobismol doesnt help, the only thing that remotely helps is a fan blowing on my face lol.
i have to wake up EARLY on the wedding day so this is a concern please leave me you thoughts and suggestions

Honestly, I'd stop taking it altogether because those side-effects are horrible. Don't get another hormonal birth control because it could mess you up. But you do have 2 months, so if you stop, you could be back to normal by the wedding. Until then use condoms?

I was on Tri-Cyclen, a very high dose and I was sick a lot, but now I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen. If I were you, I'd take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, it's a lower dosage and you probably won't be sick like you are now. If that still makes you sick, get off of it or try another brand.

I take ortho, and sometimes right after i take it, i feel a little sick but it usually passes in about 10 minutes or less!
Is there an anti nasuea med your gyno would provide you (although he would probably know this, just be careful cuz some meds interact with bc)

Im sorry, try to stick it out, i know it stinks

I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for quite a few years. It made me really sick to my stomach in the mornings, just like what you're experiencing. I would have to go in to work late because I couldn't leave the bathroom some days. I talked to my doctor and he said that the tri level pills can cause that occasionally since the level of hormones change each week, sensitive systems can't adjust.

I switched to Cyclen and I don't get any "morning sickness" anymore. It lacks the benefit of the acne medicine in Ortho Cyclen or Tri-Cyclen but not having the sickness makes up for it.

If you don't want to switch or stop taking it before the wedding, then I would probably look for some anti nausea stuff to take on the wedding day ... maybe try it before to make sure it works for you.

I took BC for a while and it made me sick sometimes; I also believe it made my heart race, but it wasn't Ortho.

I'm sorry your so sick! I have been taking Yasmin 4mg for about 3years now(not sure exactly whats in it) and I felt alittle nauseated the first month I was on it but now its fine. I can even do that when you have a trip or something and dont want to be bothered with a period that month to start a new pack instead of taking the placebo pills and it will let me skip for a month but everything goes back to normal at the end of that next cycle. It is a low does bc, maybe talk to your doc and see if this might be a better option for you if the other dose is too high that it makes you sick.. If you've got two months that should be long enough for you body to adjust?

Holy cow that can't be right! I also recommend Yasmin - I am just now getting back on it. But I was on it for a couple years before - and it's the ONLY birth control, out of about 7 different kinds that I tried, that didn't make me gain weight, and it worked! I didn't have any side effects, and I was regular.

I was on Ortho-Tricylcen as well, I think it made me nauseous too, along with really bad mood swings. I have been on Tri-Nessa for about 2 years or so now, and I don't have any side effects. Knock on wood.

I know what you mean, I was 20 the first time I went to the gyno & had always suffered with severe menstural cramps, back aches, headaches, you name it. But I was newly insured with the job I was at and in a committed relationship so I thought "well he!!" I'd always heard that BC would help with the symptoms of periods but had no idea how wonderful it could be not to be out of commission for a solid week each month! I mean literally for a whole week all I could do was take advil and try and sleep it off b/c I ws hurting so bad (sorry if TMI) Now I might get a slight lower back ache when that time comes around (but usually only if I've run myself ragged and am super tired) and my cycle isnt as long as it used to be so I only have to be bothered with it for about 4 days tops!

I don't know, I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for a year or two now and I've never had any problems. (Teehee, although whenever I gain any weight I do try and blame the pill.) But I think for your wedding day I'd rather risk a pimple than throwing up all morning! You still have a couple of months, you should be pretty evened out by then if you started it now. I think it's kind of funny that your doctor wouldn't switch you.

I*'ve been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for a bit over a year, and no problem either. I switched from Ovcon, becuase they stopped making it, and I didn't have any problems on either of the pills. Although I didn't gain any weight on it :purplex:

I encountered the same problem when I tried to take BC. I tried several kinds over a couple of years and then just gave up. I was going to try another type once we got married, but I decided we'd just be as careful as possible.

thanks for all your feedback! I can't just not take it though b/c i was put on it for polycystic ovaries. When that time of the month came i was curled up in the fetal position crying most of the time. My back and even my legs hurt sooo bad and i would have 2 periods a month =( ! Since the BC, i have no symptoms like that just a few cramps that dont bother me really. so not taking it isnt a option (i wish it was) b/c i'm on it as a medication.

When i started the ortho tri-cyclen lo he said it was the lowest dose you could get, however thats probably changed within the last 2 years. i may just skip it the night before the wedding and take it *** soon as we leave.

I think *lisa* may have it right. It probably has something to do with the fact its a tri-level pill, i can see how right when your body is getting adjusted to it you have to take a higher dose. what is a BC that stay the same dosage the whole month. i'd love to be able to skip periods!
