I'm trying to find the perfect song that would work for a Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance (we'd like to do them at the same time). What are you guys doing?

Matt's using for his mother/son dance:

"Angels" by Randy Travis

Me and some of the boys were sitting around the other night
Started talking about politics, religion, love and life
And what a shame it was about 9/11
And what about hell and what about heaven
And is there or isn't there angels on earth
And then one guy said
Well you can take that for what it's worth
If it's something I can see or something I can touch
Well I might believe in all that stuff
So I just had to say to him

Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes

And then I said who went through the pain
And smiled through the tears on the day of your birth?
She counted your fingers and toes and thank god you were whole
Son you outta know who loved you first, that's right
And who always came running everytime you cried out
And how many more things have you forgotten about
And who tried their best to teach you wrong from right
And how many nights did she leave on the light
While she waited and prayed that you came in
And who'd be there for you right up to the end
Think about it tonight

Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes

Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
That's right

My dad and I will probably gonna do a dance that would have been danced in Russia. It would be something different and fun.

Oooh, I wish I could see that. I LOVE Russia! Right after the wedding, I'm getting my son's name tattooed in Russian down the top of my spine.

Wow how familiar this thread sounds...I have been workin this entire past weekend on just this topic updating my website.

My first dance at my first wedding was Could I have this dance by Anne Murray. We didn't do father daughter or mother son dances tho. We did not have a dance for my 2nd wedding.

My son is getting married in July...I dont' know if they have decided on their first dance or the father daughter dance, but he is thinking "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle", by Glen Campbell/Steve Warner for the mother son dance.

Probably my fav songs right now are Can You Feel The Love Toght, Elton John(Lion King) and Wonderful Tonight, Eric Clapton.

Best of Luck in your search for the perfect father and daughter song....feel free to check out my website if you like.

I'd like to do 'Wonderful Tonight' as well, but I'm just not sure. I also really like 'In My Life' by The Beatles, but I don't think it fits the whole Mother/Father thing.

LeeAnne Womack - I hope you dance

I'm using it for my wedding party dance, but it could work for a daughter/father/mother/son dance

I'm considering several possibilities for the father/daughter dance. One is the traditional Scottish tune "Mairi's Wedding"--which fits us (and my dad's love for Scottish/Irish folk music) quite well. Maybe something by John Denver (like "Sunshine on my Shoulder") as both he and Mom are fans. I dunno yet for sure. I'd like to do something that reflects my dad's personality, but his taste in music is quite varied and somewhat eclectic.

"Wonderful Tonight" is a beautiful song, the story behind it is not as romantic though. Apperantly Claptop wrote it on a night he and his wife were supposed to be going to go to a party. His wife kept on changing clothes about 100 times and they were gonna be late. He got fed up, kept trying to tell her that she looked wonderful that night, and the song was born.

I'm dancing to "In My Life" by the Beatles with my dad. FH and mom will do "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. We're HUGE R.F. fans. Our first dance is Blessed the Broken Road.

I'm dancing with my dad to "In My Life" by the Beatles. I know alot of people dance to this, but I picked it because it's so special between me and my dad. It makes me tear up just thinking about it. He's the one who made me love the Beatles, and truly there is no one in my life besides my daughter who I love more than my dad. He won't know that's what we're dancing to, so I think he'll be crying as much as me while we're dancing. As for the Mother/Son, I don't know-Please offer more ideas!

Wow, for some reason I read the lyrics and thought 'I don't know if this will work for the father/daughter mother/son dance (we're doing them at the same time cause DF gets REALLY nervous about dancing in front of people and didn't want ALL eyes on him, lol). But I'm so glad that there are other people who are doing this song as well, so I think that's probably what we'll go with.

I had picked a Carpenters song...but now I'm rethinking my choice...

See, I have this sound clip of me singing a solo in church when I was 4 years old. It's been a treasure to my parents, that we had this on tape, and I digitized it a few years ago. Well, now I'm thinking I may play that clip and then have it fade into the song "Lullaby" by Billy Joel. There won't be a dry eye in the house :jpticked: :bblol:

My father and I are dancing to "Cinderalla" by Steven Curtis Chapman, and my hubby-to-be and his mom are dancing to Boyz II Men "A Song for Mama". I know, I know.. they aren't very creative, but I pay more attention to lyrics and what the songs mean to me.

One great option if you are wanting to do your MS and FD wedding dances together is use the song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong!
