Hi All,

I just decided on my invite design. A simple layered look fixed with a silver heart shaped brad.

I need to go buy a paper cutter and adhesive. Any suggestions?

I think a glue stick would work. I'm just doing cardstock on cardstock but didn't know if there was anything better out there.

Thanks

Haven't bought a paper cutter yet, but for adhesive: I used the Tombow Mono Adhesive on my invites. It's a little dispenser that just rolls on a thin film of glue in a quarter of an inch strip. I haven't had any problems with it, and it's really quick and easy to use.

I would check the scrapbook section of your local hobby shop. There are various dry adhesives that work great, and come in various sized dots and sqaures so you can get the adhesive exactly where you want it.

As far as adhesives go, I would definitely use a tape runner or a tab adhesive instead of a glue stick. Glue sticks can be messy and sometimes not even permanent. The tape runner I use is Creative Memories. You would need to find a consultant in your area to get one though (just check out their website). Fiskars makes a good tab adhesive. Just be sure to buy permanent as opposed to repositionable.

My paper trimmer is also Creative Memories. I LOVE it. Fiskars makes a good paper trimmer as well. Just be sure you get a trimmer large enough to accommodate the size of paper you are using - some trimmers only work on paper up to 8.5"x11" and they don't work with 12"x12" paper.

Hope this helps!

I second the tape runner/glue runner option. I started with glue sticks, too, and it DID NOT work. Once it dried all the way and sat for a couple of days, anytime you'd move the paper, the glue would kinda crack and the pieces wouldn't be stuck together anymore. I'm sooooo glad I found that out in my trial runs.

I don't know about this particular project, but have to agree in general about using the alternative to glue sticks. I never have much luck with them on any craft project.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I altered the design of my invites so i didn't need the glue. But while I was looking for the tape runners I found clear photo corners which turned out to be the perfect thing to hold my response card to invitation panel. :flower:

I use a bond it goes on blue and dries clear. I used it on my butterflies and my invitations. Comes in a ink pen size up to a wide marker size. I purchased it at a scrapbooking store, I don't not know the name of it.
