I searched this topic and didn't come across a thread that discussed this, but feel free to direct me if I missed it!

So I'm wondering how much everybody paid for their DJ? (if you're using one, of course!) I'm using a DJ for my ceremony, my cocktail hour, and my reception.. for a total of 6 1/2 hours.

$499.

That includes running sound for the ceremony and then in two rooms at the reception (one for dinner type of music, the other for dancing). It includes all mics, equipment, etc...and said if there were any extras I needed, it wouldn't cost any more.

He also said he's sorta the coordinator...like, if our caterer doesn't show up on time, he'll be the one on the phone calling to find out where they are.

He'll be there working for about 5 1/2 hours.

We haven't officially booked one yet, but $1000 seems to be the magical number.

1000 seems to be the number I keep getting. We met with one DJ today who is AMAZING and is highly recommended by many. However, he is very expensive! We were able to talk him down from $2000 to $1349, which seems like a very good deal. I'm just trying to justify spending that much on a DJ, and wanted to see how much everybody else was spending.

I forgot to mention that my $499 was his Sunday price, too...he knocked off a couple hundred because of that. So I think I'm getting quite the deal.

We are paying $595 for 4 hours. He is $100/per hour after that. Seems like most of the DJs around here are in the $600 range or the $1000 range.

I guess we got one of the more expensive ones...$1600...but that also includes live piano for the ceremony, A/V slideshows and music vids at the reception, and mileage from his home 60 miles north of here.

I'm getting a somewhat close (to my FMIL) family friend to MC and DJ for the event. Even $500. He says that's what it costs to rent the equipment, and that's all he charged us! He also said he'd throw in a free Kareoke bar! haha

$1300, but I do not regret it at all..

Ours is $1200 for ceremony, cocktails hour, dinner and dance. We're using him from 1-midnight and I feel that is a fair price.
