View Full Version : Cost to have hair done?

So for a few moments I had been contemplating having my hair done instead of having my mom do it or something. So i got a quote from 1 person so far and there's no way... I mean it was over $600 just for me (including a 2 hour "trial" and an early morning fee). I understand that asking someone to do my hair early in the AM might cost a little more but I think that's a wedding expense I'll have to do without...

How much is normal to pay for this?

There's a salon near where I work, in someone's house and I may have to call them and get a price quote, they are also pretty close to the museum, so we could probably see if they would possibly open early and we could go in there.

Chances are my mom will probably end up doing my hair, but I figured I'd look into other options so she doesn't have to worry about it that morning...

I was quoted like $40-$55 for trial and $10 more for the day of.

Haha, now that I'd pay for! Did you just ask where you get your hair cuts or did you find someone another way?

Well I have an appointment scheduled for the date, but if I can do it for free, I will :)

I've gotten various quotes so far. They range from $50-$100 in the salon (with a trial extra) or $200-$300 to come on site.

Mine is going to be $80 for hair AND makeup in Gatlinburg. And this is ALL they do, so I'm excited.

Around here I've seen $80-100 for day of, and the mandatory trial is $45-55. $600 sounds crazy to me, I don't care if they have to show up at 3am to do it!

$600 is pretty ridiculous. I think it's around $60-$80.

The hairstylist I am having is coming out to the Ceremony location and she is charging $50 per hair per girl and $25 for natural makeup.

I'm having a woman come to the wedding site and do my hair and makeup for $125. My bridesmaids are getting theirs done for $45. So yes, $600 is outrageous, no matter how early in the morning it is, lol. Don't waste your time with her.

now that think about it I remember when i got my hair done in Vegas. I had to get it done 1 hour before the salon opened and they only charged me $100 at the most.

Yay! I found a place near the museum. I'm going to go in for a trim (my hair will need it by then) and a trial 3 weeks before the wedding. A cut and style is $50 and styling is only $25, I plan on tipping her well for showing up sooooo early on a Saturday to do my hair.

It's amazing how much it hair will cost in different areas. I don't know how much my hair is going to cost but I am expecting it to be a little over 100$ or around 150$ but I'd pay him up to 250$ being that he has to travel an hour an a half to get to my location and he has to shut down for the afternoon.

It's the same person that has done my hair for the past 12 years, so I don't expect him to charge that much....

I am paying $300 for hair and makeup, however my trails are included in that price. I thought it was pretty decent considering I am getting married on Cape Cod and everything there is uber expensive.

I seriously would have laughed in their face when they said 600 bucks!!

I guess I am pretty cheap LOL! I have short hair so i'm just getting a shampoo/style for $25! I bought some bareminerals and other makeup and my best friend and I are doing my makeup.

I got married in Las Vegas, so I paid around $120 for my hair. I loved how it turned out... <br>
$600 is way too much for hair even if is for early morning.

Mine turned out to be total $250 and that included color, cut, updo and makeup application AND my daughter's hair and makeup!

Okay, I have decided on a hair and make-up artist, so I can answer this exactly now. :) Mine is $250 for the day of the wedding to come on-site and do both my hair and make-up. A trial is extra at $175 for 2 hours. So, that's $425 for both hair and make-up with a trial, and she is one of the pricier ones around here, so I think $600 is a bit much.

$600 is highway robbery. The best price in my area is around $50-$100, which I think is pretty normal. My friend is going to a place where they not only do your hair & makeup but serve you breakfast!

The most cost-effective places to get your hair styled are at beauty schools. The beauty school students do your hair while instructors monitor and since they stylist doing your hair isn't officially a stylist yet the costs are always the lowest you'll find.

In my experiences I've never had a bad hair style from a beauty school either as the students tend to already have great hair styling skills before they enter the vocational school anyway.

Save the rest of that $$$ for the honeymoon!

When they asked for $600 did they have a little black mask over their eyes. Because Dick Turpin did and he was a daylight robber too. :bbeek:

I'm fortunate because my Witness is a hairdresser so all i've got to pay for is about £20 (£1 UK = £1.98 US) for the Red dye and a bottle of Jack Daniels for her to style my hair. Result!!!

Lucky!!! It's great to have friends in the business... I have a friend who is a makeup artist (and a bridesmaid!) and I'm grateful for her help!

Then again, i'm also a cheap @$$.. I really don't think i'm going to spend that $35 on makeup.. Or have a pre-trial with my hair.. =/ Specially when that hair trial would be another $50.. At least.

Um.. Yeah. $600 is WAY too much. They better be putting gold flecks in your hair..

Holy :cloppy:!!! 600.00! On hair!!! That is the craziest thing that I have ever heard of! Are they going to curl each individual hair! Maybe but rinestones and jewels in your hair!!!

Seriously, i think that is crazy to pay that much to get your hair done! Quotes around here are between 35-100 for up-does. Most of them are around the 50's! I would find a new place to go through!

LOL I'm a total cheap @$$ too so I'll probably be forgoing the practice styling and professional makeup as well when it's my wedding.

A wedding is basically a prom anyways and I've never had a hair stylist make a bad up do/curls no matter what crazy style I decide on (lol, like the rock star hair at Dani's wedding)

I'm getting mine colored with a really nice weave color and a cut. Im paying $50 but for the hair up-do, she is going to do it free of charge.

Old Co-worker. Not necessarily a friend, but friendly enough. YAY.

Im havign a trial run probably next week.
