Yeah that looks like a parakeet. I've had a couple of these birds when I was a kid and I'm thinking that is what that is. She is pretty!
Here is some information I found on the net.
1) budgie or parakeet - what is the difference?
The term 'parakeet' is almost a catch-all name given to many smaller parrot species, usually slim birds with long pointed tails.
The name 'budgie' or 'budgerigar' comes from Australia where budgies live in the wild.
The budgie does have alternative names given to it such as shell parakeet and warbling grass parakeet, hence people calling them budgies and parakeets. A lot depends on which part of the world you live in. In the USA a budgie is often referred to as a parakeet.

I always wanted a bird but Sean says no way. Apparenlty his sister had one when they were little and she never cleaned up after it. So maybe now I'll tell him I am going out to by a Budgie.

I had a budgie once....my cat ate it!! How traumatizing was that?? I loved the cat and the bird so I didn't know how to react!! lmao! I kept telling my dad to close the door when he let the bird out but he wouldn't listen!! Then one day the cat goes running through the kitchen with this yellow and blue thing in his mouth!! I was so mad at my dad, come to think of it, I still sort of am!! lol

I had one too (well he was really the kids), and my friend's cat I "cat sitting" got him. Some other friends would tease me "I taught I taw a puddy tat, I did, I did, akkkaakakkakk!" I figured the kids would get upset, but they really didnt. They would go around...."I taught I taw a puddy tat"

DUDE! Now I can be all Aussie-like and call my best friends birds "budgies"! Woot! I get to be cool for a moment! :)
Thanks for the info and cute birds! I'd like to get a little white bird with an orange beak and the grey cheeks, but then I remember Birdie and how mean he was and how much he stank and it makes me reconsider. Ok, so we weren't very creative with our bird names.:D
