So for my B-day present my mom got me a gift card to a spa. So in a few weeks I will be going in for my first facial ever. (They are closed for remodeling so I had to wait a few weeks for setting up the appointment). I guess i'm kind of curious on what I should expect. I set up the appointment for a microderm abrasion because there are some dark spots (acne scar tissue) that I would really like to lessen the appearance and of course I'd really like to smooth my skin out a bit.

Can anyone tell me what I might have signed up for? Their experiences and whether or not they liked their facials....

On a side note: I guess I thought is was kind of funny (in a strange way) that they didn't have counter girls with all that good of skin. Wouldn't you think that a spa would want to put their best face forward, so to speak? Should I be concerened by that?

I have never had a facial. I am curious to see how yours goes. My skin is super sensative, but i am sure there are lotions for all of that.

You will be a whole new you! Sounds like fun!:flower:

Oh how fun!!!! You're going to love it!!!

A good aestetician will sit down with you beforehand, and discuss your concerns about your skin, ask about sensitivity, breakouts, etc... so they can address these concerns in your treatment.

From what I understand, microdermabrasion takes a few treatments to really see dramatic results, but that'll depend on how much damage/discoloration your skin has.

Eh, I agree it would seem the employees working there should 'put their best face forward,' but then many times the different employees at a spa work similarly to hairdressers (in that they are independent, but rent 'booth' space), so they're probably not going around giving free treatments to employees. I wouldn't be concerned about it.

I went to my first facial a couple of months ago and it was so worth it. I didn't want to leave after the hour was up lol. My skin was glowing afterwards... but then when I took a shower, my skin looked the same... it was all in the moisturiser they put on me. From what I know, it take a few appointments in order for there to be a real difference.

facials are amazing. Im an esthetician and my clients say their faces feel so fresh and clean afterwards. Just make sure they use quality products and you have licenced or certified estheticians..I know a place that the products are **** and massage therapists do facials...As an esthetican that is a slap in the face...Have fun..
