We were discussing table settings in another thread and several helpful tricks were posted about remembering what goes where when setting a table.

the spoon "protects" the knife
the knife blade goes towards the plate

F-O-R-K and L-E-F-T have the same number of letters, so the fork goes on the left (same with spoon/right)
So what other tips and tricks did you learn as a child to remember stuff?
As a kid, I had a hard time learning my left and my rights. That was only until a friend of mine showed me a cool trick - Hold your hands up in front of you like you were framing a shot/scene. Kind of like this guy -

Now which hand forms the letter L? Yep, that's right - it's your left hand.
Your right hand forms a backwards L (albeit correct if you lift it to your forehead to let someone else know that they are a Looooooooooser! :rofl:)
