Here is my first attempt at our DIY Invites-

I still have some tweaks that need to be done including finding an actual chapel and setting the time, but this is the idea-

I also want to steal Parhelion's idea of stamping the envelope, but I haven't found the right stamp yet! (Although I really like some of the ones I found on E-bay from Inkadinkado!)

What do ya'll think?

Thanks Elizabeth!! I think they fit our mountain theme pretty well and Mack liked them so I will probably move forward with them after our trip to Gatlinburg in May. Hopefully we will be able to make some final decisions about venue and time on that trip.

OMG I just went to check the site. The the cabin shown is EXACTLY my kind of home ... put it on a lake and I would be in heaven!

The cabin that is shown in that picture is the one that we are actually staying in when we go in May. I can't wait as it is exactly the type of house I would have if I could too!

Thanks everyone! Danielle, thanks to you I wandered through the scrapbooking supplies at Hobby Lobby and found all the really cool punches that they have available. I think I could end up getting hooked on scrapbooking but I need another hobby like I need a hole in my head! :bblol:

Not at all. The hardest part for me was laying them out and getting the tab titles in the right places and also making sure I didn't get the wording caught in the brad at the top. I am working on a template though, so when we decide on the venue and all the rest of the info, I will be able to change it out and print the real invite.

I found a pretty #10 green envelope from a company here called xpedx and I want to use this stamp and stamp the lower right corner with a complimentary brown ink. (Thanks Parhelion for this idea!!)

I do calligraphy, so I will hand address all my envelopes with a brown calligrapy ink as well.

I got the paper from Hobby Lobby in the scrapbooking section. I lucked into a package of 50 sheets of the brown kraft paper for only $3.99, but the green is cardstock from their individual bins at 4 sheets for $1.00 - I also found the border punch at Hobby Lobby too. I think that it adds so much to the invite.

I found it from a vendor on E-bay. The name of the store is Simon Says Stamp. They have lots of choices though! Many more than found locally!

Thanks! I just used a simple paper cutter that I bought from Sam's. I did print guides on the top and bottom of the paper so that I could do a better job of getting it straight because even with a paper cutter I can't cut a straight line to save my life!

This is really neat idea, espeically for anyone who has a lot of information that needs to be conveyed.

I have another idea too, but I don't know if this would be too complicated. Going along with the idea of the layers, I was imaging, there being a plastic window (like the address portion of an envelope) on each page. Every page would it's own picture or design, but when you see it on the front page, it's a complete picture.

Maybe someone else will think of something along these lines, but an easier version!
