So I've talked a little about this in my journal, but I wanted to let everybody know that today Chad made a definite decision to go back to school. He has been really confused for the last couple of months about it so this morning I sat down on the couch with his head in my lap and we talked for hours. He said that it was starting to really wear away at him that everything at the restaurant just goes against everything that he believes. He still really likes his job, but he said that he wanted to make the world better; not just make sure people get hot food to their table. I told him that food sure makes my world better!
He's either going to be getting a degree in environmental science or environmental engineering. He's going to be starting this fall part time and keep his full time work schedule. Then when I get a job he'll start working part time and go to school full time. He should be done in about 3 years. AND since he is a higher up employee his job will pay for a good chunk of his education. He'll still have to get loans, but not so many of them.
He spoke to a man who works with the water conservation team for the shuttle astronauts at a green living expo the other day and he had a lot of really good advice for him. The man got Chad's business card and said that he would call him so that he could give him more guidance. He said that Chad seems to really know what he's talking about and could tell he has a lot of passion for it so he had encouraged him to go back to school. He also said that environmenal careers are a growing field.
He hasn't told his parents yet so we'll see what they have to say. We're both kind of nervous about how this is going to change our lives, but I'm so excited for him and I know that it will truly make him so much happier.
