Andrew's moving into an apartment this month (on the 18th), and as I was writing a check today, it occurred to me that we'll have to order him some new checks with his new address on it. And then I started thinking about all the other places we'd have to let know. Driver's license (but he says he's not doing that since he'll have to move in a year anyways), cell phone bill, doctors and dentist... any others ya'll can think of? Thanks in advance for the help!

Try this link for a pretty complete list. Also when you go to the post office they have "address change kits"

Well pretty much all of your creditors need to be made aware of your move. If you fill out a change of address and have your mail forwarded with the local post office you shouldn't miss anything in the transition.

Another way to help is to look at your monthly bills and send a change of address to all those that you pay every month.

Like; Health insurance, Car insurance, Credit cards, etc ...

When it comes to the checks ( take it from a bank teller of 3 years ) he doesn't need to change that right off. Make sure it is changed on his account but he can use up the rest of his checks and just cross out the old address and write in the new one. Checks can be expensive some times so why waste them. use them up and when he reorders the new address can be added then.

Yeah, last time I moved I had my old checks for a long time. Some banks will give you free checks (once a year) when you move.

yeah I was going to say that too! I was still using checks with our oldest addy on it and just crossing it out and writing the new one in...now I am using the second oldest addressed ones and still crossing out the addy. My DH just wants to order new cheques, but I am so not about to spend more money on cheques when I still have one hundred of the others!! Plus at $20 bucks for 100 more, I'm so not wasting twenty bucks!!

Instead of writting in your new addy, you can get or make those envelope address lables and put those over your old addy on your checks. That's what we did. We only had one store question it, and it was cleared up by showing ID.

O this advise is helpful to me too!! I'm hoping to get a new apartment in the next month or so, but don't want to go through ordering new checks, when in 7 months, we'll have to get new ones again once we are married and offically combine our accounts. I just got new checks so I'm pretty sure I'll have enough till that time comes. THANKS!!
