I don't know how, but I woke up this morning and I couldn't move my neck. I was tossing and turning all night, and everytime I woke up my neck hurt just a little bit more each time. Finally when I woke up I was completely stiff. I hope the rest of my 5 weeks aren't as difficult to sleep, because I don't want to spend my weddind day in a neck brace.
Anyone have any tips for stiff necks? I mean very stiff, as in I can't turn to the right or left even a smidgen.

It sounds like you strained the muscles. Take an anti inflamatory - ibuprofin works best for me. Then try a nice hot shower to see if that relaxes the muscles. If that works, then try a heating pad off and on all day. HOwever, if you find that the heat isn't working, try icing it. As funny as it sounds if you don't have one of the little freezer gel packs, frozen bags of corn or peas work fabulously. Just try resting today. If it still hurts tomorrow call your doctor. He might be able to prescribe a mild muscle relaxer to make you feel better and maybe a little something to take the edge off of the stress until the big day.

I agree withthte heating pad idea! Frozen peas work to, I have a pinched nerve in my neck so I get a lot of headaches, the peas are my friends.:buck: Also, I know it will be hard at first but try a head roll very slow and use your handes instead of your neck muscles. Maybe you can stretch out the muscle.

As soon as I get home, I will try icing and heating my neck.
It's not as easy sitting here at my desk

That is weird we have had a stiff neck lately too. Actually when we talked to some of our friends they were having them at the same time. We were begining to wonder if it was some sort of flu. Danny had his for over a week!!:bbeek:

Anyways we used the heating pad and theragesic(like Bengay but better) Hope you feel better soon!!!! ;)

I agree ... heat and/or ice and Ibuprofen and rest tonight. I pulled a muscle in my next a few times and I know how it feels. Once I pulled a muscle in my side just from stretching! I could barely move for days and it hurt to breathe.

Feel better :D

Do you have a store or pharmacy near by? If you do, maybe take 5 minutes to see if they have any of those little heat packs. I forget what they are called but they are like little heating pads without cords. You just open them up and they react with oxygen to get warm . Then they have little stick tabs on them so you can wear them around all day. They are my saving grace somedays whn I have a migraine and HAVE to get up. You can find them with the pain relivers in the pharmacy.

I have alot of problems with my neck at times. I find a heating pad really helps. But you might consider seeing a chiropractor if it continues to be a problem for you. I go to one and it is the best thing i ever did! I went there after i had a car accident where i got 3 degree whiplash.

Are there any other symptoms with your stiff neck?? No rashes (purple or blue or a rash period) or anything else?? You just want to be sure, that this couldn't be a sign of a more seriouc illness. (Menengitis,etc....sorry I can't spell!!) If not what everyone else suggested could do wonders!! Hope you neck is better soon!!

I got home last night and lay down for the entire night. I also took some Robacecet (bad spelling!). I fell asleep pretty early, and woke up at 3am in pain, so I took some more pills. This morning I woke up and feel a little bit looser in my neck, but now I have major spasms in my lower back. I just bent down to turn on my computer and I could barely get up again.
I don't have any other symptoms like rashes ( I was thinking menengitis also). It feels like I have my period because I'm having major cramps, but I just finished it a week ago.
I feel really sore all over, but at least I can move my neck today. Even just a little is good.

You may want to go see your doctor. Sounds like you are in some serious pain. It just worries me that you are having cramps and pains. I hope you feel better soon!

Yes I would high tail it to the doctor as well!! I don't think this is something to take lightly. Can you take the afternoon off of work?? Maybe you just need to see a chiropractor but I would definately see your regular doctor espicially since you are having cramps!! Take the afternoon off and go, Hun!! I hope everything goes well! Take care!!

Aww Shawna, that sucks! I hope you get to feeling better soon. Just an FYI: some other symptoms of meningitis are severe headache, irritability, malaise, restlessness, nausea, delirium, and disorientation. If you're experiencing any of these other symptoms - please get to a doctor. I know there's been quite a few cases of meningitis down here lately. Otherwise I hope it goes away quickly!

Wow.... that does not sound good. Definatly have it checked out. If you are going to see a Chiropractor i have to recomend Mulock & Yonge Chiropractic. Dr. Darren Poncelet is awsome! 905-898-6644
Hope you feel better! Keep us posted on everything!

Thanks for the # Jenn..

This afternoon I'm starting to feel a little bit looser.
I don't think it's anything other than restless sleeps. If you see my other thread you'll see some of the stress I'm dealing with.
I guess I'm just feeling the tension inside and out!
