Alright, so Matt picked out our unity vases. I didn't want to try to get them engraved anywhere cuz that costs so stinkin much - so I figured I'd etch them and see how that turns out.

I was just going to do a nice J on mine and an M on his, then put J + M on the center vase, but after playing around with ideas, I figured out that I could put our whole names on each vase, then the date on the center vase. I LOVE these cuz they're something we can cap and put on our mantle or something and not worry bout spilling them.

These were $0.99 each at Michaels by the way!

After putting the etching cream on them (using the handle of a paint brush since the brush is too wide)

I wanted to paint over the etching with an oil base paint and a fine tipped brush, but Matt likes them the way they are.... I am kinda iffy about them still because I don't like that we can't really see the writing. But he says that adds to their character.

Looks good! You'll see the writing when you put the sand in it.

They really will stand out with the sand inside.

i see what he is saying but why dont you try to do it on something else (try one of the glasses you messed up on) and show him on that. let him decided once he sees the difference :)

Those are good :) And I think that the sand will make the names stand out better! Great job.

We're using probably black and blue sand... maybe white and blue - not sure yet. I know we won't be able to see it against white sand, but prolly against black and blue :)

Hey, which etching creme did you use? I picked something up a while back, and it refuses to work for me.

How do you etch something? I really like this...also, think those bottles are a steal for the price!!!

I used Armour Etch - got it from Michaels for $13ish for a tiny bottle. The big bottle I need is about $35.

On my wine glasses I'm using a paint brush, but for the unity vases I used the tipped handle of a paint brush because I didn't have any fine tipped brushes.
