My mom called me a few days ago and left me a voicemail saying that she'd call me more and that she loved me very much. I called her back and everything went great, she didn't try to control the situation, she actually listened to me, and treated me kindly. Annnnd, remember how she was so hung up on not getting a present last Christmas? Well she didn't mention that and she just said that she loved her beautiful birthday card that I sent her (her birthday is today). I think she is trying to be a better mother. I guess she talked to someone because she sounded at peace and not mad at all. In the past she has made me feel guilty for not coming to see her and her family in the summer, but when she talked about them all getting together this time, she didn't ask that me and Chris come. I was thinking "Yay! She's not be controlling anymore, she actually cares what I want for a change." I do come to see her, just not every summer like she wanted me to. Anyways, I'm really glad things are working out. No more bad dreams about yelling at or choking my mom! :bbeek:

Hey, congrats on such a change!! I wish my mom would change like that!! Maybe you can get her to change too!!!????

Have you tried sending her a letter or something? All I did was send a long email to her about my feelings. I think she talked to someone about it. See, my mom is really stubborn and doesn't like hearing that she is wrong but if someone else, besides me, tells her that she has problems, she probably actually listens to them. I think she did in this case. Hope everything works out with you and your mom.
