Okay married ladies...I need some advice here. I went to the doctor recently, and I discovered that I've gained 30 pounds since the wedding. Yes you read it right, THIRTY!! I've been incredibly depressed and disgusted with myself because of it lately. I can't fit into any of my clothes. All of my pants are "high-waters" and they cut me and my blouse buttons won't stay buttoned... I get out of breath when I climb stairs; even walking out to the car makes me out of breath. It's sickening! I'M sickening!
Has anyone else experienced this? Do you have any tips? A friend of mine says it's normal to gain weight after getting married, because you're settled and relaxed. But 30 pounds?? I've never been this big in my life!
And we're trying to conceive, so that adds new dimension to my dilemma!

I've always been overweight, but I have not gained any weight since the wedding. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this, though. It's an awful feeling and affects almost every aspect of your life. Weight Watchers is wonderful, and I know so many people that have been successful on it. Good luck, sweetie!!

I have lost weight since my wedding (3 yrs ago) but before the wedding I wanted to loose and I ended up gaining ... I am constantly up and down with my weight :gurn:
Try not to let it get you down; if you are unhappy then try to take little steps everyday to make a change.
Loosing weight is hard and it won't happen overnight; I know this frustrates me at times.
All the best

My weight is up and down ALL the time. I have not gotten married yet (8-8-08) but I have been moved out for 2 years now. Yet, I have also had a child. I was 110 when I moved out, and now I am about 145. That's a big jump, and that happened within the last year.
Im working to lose this before the wedding, but I am not counting on any miracles.

Aww,sweetheart dont feel like this please. Its not the end of the world. I am overweight and I am sick of trying to lose my weight.
You are the same person no matter your weight. Give it a try for a better eating habits. First of all for yourself and then for somebody else:grinhappy:

Sad thing is, i am trying to eat better... I have been replacing things i eat or usually eat with healthier things.. Like turkey instead of hamburger. Its like i don't make enough to eat healthy.. lol! Minimum wage don't cut it.
What i really REALLY need to do is exercise.. But thats next to impossible. Last time i tried to exercise and work, i ended up in a soft cast for two months (i had joined a gym).. Because one of my legs is longer than the other.. Which usually doesn't matter, but its making my ankle strain more to try and balance. So, it sprained, then tore the legiment. Right now i use gels in my shoes (super flat feet) and a brace on my ankle/foot so that its a bit taller and is more supported.. but its not really helping. The other day it hurt all the way up to my knees. :( i know if i lost weight it wouldn't hurt so much, its just getting there..
Then again, it doesn't help that i have an identical twin sister that was happy when she hit the 115/120 range.. >.< We are like our own before and after pictures! lol

When me and FH were first together i had only weighed 125 lbs, and had never been overweight. Then as soon as we moved in together I slowly started gaining and went all he way up to 220. We liked to eat out a LOT.
It took me three years to gain that weight, and its taken me 1 year of trying to change my eating habits to lose 40 pounds. I have pretty much switched to a mostly organic diet, and drink a LOT of homemade smoothies. My weight loss has slowed down a lot, but i notice that my clothes are still getting looser, and I have been getting a lot of compliments on my weight loss lately. Don't get me wrong I still have my occasional slice of pizza, but I try to eat well at least 80% of the time.
So basically what im trying to say with this ramble....... it took some time to put on the weight and it will take even longer to get it off. You just have to be patient, try your best to eat right (at least most of the time), and dont get discouraged. And no crash diets! You may lose weight in the beginning, but you will almost always gain it back. Its better to change your eating habits and lose at a steady pace.
And don't forget to have an occasional treat! :D

I've been doing smoothies, too! Only they are mostly with frozen fruit.. its cheaper for more, lol. I am honestly trying to eat less red meat, and go more for turkey and seafood.. Mostly salmon. I feel dumb saying it, but i don't know what to do with myself when it comes to eating. I don't think i eat a lot (my sis doesn't think so, either, lol).. I think a lot of it is lack of exercise. It makes me sad because i REALLY like going outside, random wandering, etc, but i am SO scared that my foot is going to act up again. I can't afford to be off work again. ;-; I am going to start bike riding with my sis when she moves into her new house.. Hopefully that'll help. It'll put pressure on my ankles, but i won't be actually walking, so.. =/ I'm kind of dumb about this sort of thing, lol.

I am feeling the pain of those who have gained weight since getting married ( I've been married two years) I know the feeling of disgust and being upset with the weight gained..errrrrrr when I met my husband I was a size 12 now 2 years later I'm barley hanging on to a 16. ( almost hitting an 18) And thats the size I told my self I would never be again!!!! As for my husband he's lost 50lbs since we got married. Yes ladies I think I gained the weight he lost! I hate trying to squeeze into my clothes and looking at my self as if I'm a fat
!@#! I feel your pain...but it's ok, our other halves love us for who we are:D
and that's all that matters

I'm 51 now & my weight to goes up & down 30 lbs. (Between 115 & 145 lbs) I'm 5'2". 145 is too heavy for that weight. For the past 5 years I only go up & down 8 lbs. The older you get the less you have to eat. Cardio is great but you need weights too. Weights keeps your metabolism reved up because it adds more muscle. You aren't as active the older you get. So many reasons. But it all goes down to calories in & calories out. Write down everything you eat for a week & add up the calories, don't cheat with the numbers. You will be surprised at how many calories you actually eat. Count the calories for nibbling too. You have to be eating more calories than you burn. If I eat about 1,200-1,300 calories I maintain my weight. GOOD LUCK!

I lost around 7 pounds right before the wedding, cause my stomach was in knots and I couldn't eat much...lol. So yeah, now that I can eat normally again I'm a little scared of gaining it back, but I bought a used tread mill the other day so that I can get some exercise and I'm going to keep eating light. I just gotta stay determined.

I've been there. I gained so much after the wedding. And then I got pregnant and gained 68 lbs on top of that!
But the important thing to do is focus on your health. educate yourself, try different healthy foods and figure out which ones you like. But EAT, for the love of God don't deprive yourself! I've lost 45lbs so far, and it's NOT easy. but it's worth it. especially if you want to have children, because it takes a lot of energy!
good luck!

Here is some good weight lose or weight maintaining advice. These are not expensive by any means and may even save you money.
1. No pop or juice or anything, just water. This alone will help. Water has 0 calories, 0 sugar etc. Even a small container of orange juice has about 100 calories.
2. Don't eat alot of fried food. Go go for baked. Eat baked chicken instead of a cheeseburger.
3. Eat smaller portions. Eat rice with your meals as it makes you feel full without eating as much. Start looking at the calories and fat content on food packages, try not to eat more than 2,000 calories a day.
4. For snacks, eat fresh fruit like banannas, grapes, apples etc. The easiest way to do this, is just don't buy junk food, if you do buy yogurt instead of pudding or cookies, get pretzels instead of chips.
5. Dont eat out as much, or if you do don't eat fast food (mcDonalds, taco bell etc) eat at a sub place or something similar.
6. Exercise, im not saying go out and run a marathon! start by walking, then jogging, or just walk a longer and longer distance, take the stairs instead of elevators, do a very small amount of crunches/pushups and gradually do more.
7. The most important of them all... Eat breakfast. It jump starts your metabolism, without breakfast your body thinks you are starving and stores more of the food you do eat instead of burning more of it, meaning weight gain. Even if you are not hungary eat something.
Not only does eating healthier help you loose weight, after a while you will start to fill better and have more energy.
Try not to build alot of muscle by lifting weights etc, muscle weighs more than fat. Yes you may be burning fat but you might weigh more. If you want muscle I would recommend getting to a weight you are happy with and then do muscle building exercies
