I'm going to be making a powerpoint video to be played during the reception and am looking for music to use during it. I'm planning to have 1 song playing while showing pictures of me growing up, then another song for pictures of him, then another one of pictures of us together.
For pictures of me, I'm thinking about "My Girl"
For his pictures, there's a song I've heard called "Today I met the Boy I'm going to Marry" that I like, but not really sure
For us together, I like "Chasing Cars" but not sure that's my top choice.
Any suggestions????? I'm pretty open. Of course I'll be getting FH's opinion as well!
That's a great idea! Do you and him have a song? Like, maybe you can play your first dance song or "your" song for the together part of the video.

I did the exact same thing for my BFF when she got married back in '04. She had me use "All Star" by Smash Mouth for her DH's baby pictures, then "I'm a Believer" for their couple photos. Your songs can be funny, or meaningful to the two of you...but it'll be sure to impress your guests. :) Good luck!

I just want to share the fact that I so badly wanted to do this...there is even a screen and projector that is already set up at are hall but... I don't have many pictures of us growing up so I just don't know that it would really work.
I always thought that when showing my pictures I would play, "girls just wanna have fun"... something upbeat and fun since most of the wedding is reserved.
I know it will turn out really nice.. good luck!!!

I'm also making a powerpoint slide show.
My growing up song is "She's a Wild One" by Faith Hill.
DF's is "The Chicks Dig It" by Chris Cagle
Pics of us together is going to be "What a Beautiful Day" - another Chris Cagle song OR "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson.
Then I was thinking of doing some fun friend/family pics at the end and using "Freeze Frame" from the J. Geils Band.
So there are four songs altogether and they are all upbeat. Usually the slideshow leads into the first dance, so I don't want it to be a lot of slow songs in a row.

Good 'ol Powerpoint for Microsoft users :)

I make these all the time for my brides. If you don't have baby pics just use pics of the two of you together. Powerpoint works ok. I use pro video editing software but that's a little expensive for everyone. Here is some free software that I was told about. I haven't used it, but it looks easy. Plus, you can output to a lot of different formats which is very useful.

If you bride's have questions about this - slideshows, music, etc, feel free to ask me.

Well, for my uncle's wedding I made their slideshow and I alternated their growing up pictures and the song I used was "ABC 123" by The Jackson 5, and for their together pictures I used "Sunny Days" by Jars of Clay.
I'm not doing it for our wedding because we have very few pictures together besides our engagement session, and he doesn't have many baby/growing up pictures.
SoonAShelton, If you don't have your own projector, the venue might have one you can borrow. Additionally, you could make your presentation as a video DVD and just use a regular dvd player.
But yeah, I don't use PowerPoint either. On Windows I like Ulead VideoEditor, on Mac iMovie or iPhoto.

Yea VideoStudio is good software as is Ulead Media Studio. But, it can be pricey if you're just making a slideshow for your wedding. The free software I mentioned before - PhotoStage - might be helpful since you can make DVD's with it. Another option would be to use DVD software like Ulead DVD Factory or Roxio Media Creator. Most of those allow you to create videos using movies or images with transitions, then just put music under them.
MUCH easier than using Powerpoint to do all of that. And you can still have them loop through out the evening.
If your location doesn't have a projector, then think about making a DVD. You could use a DVD player and TV. I have also seen it done using a laptop and a 21" LCD monitor hooked to it. Talk to friends and family.

I had one of these at my reception and we played in the whole time, I thought it was great!
For our growing up pictures, we used the Rascal Flatts song "Waiting All My Life" I thought it fit perfectly with the baby pictures. After that we played some slower songs but ours was fairly long too. Make sure you dont get it too long because people get bored after awhile.

For my grandparents' 50th anniversary party this weekend I just used an iPhoto playlist and an iTunes playlist for the music and connected my macbook to an LCD tv that belongs to my parents(42", but you could use anything). It looped the whole time as well, and that worked especially well because I could set up a nice playlist and we wouldn't be listening to the same song or two 50 times.
