My cleaners prices went up. There is no more 20% discount, I'm so pissed! Gas is now $3.36/gallon, $4.09/gallon for diesel, just ridiculous. And airplane tickets have gone way up too. I hope we can still afford to go on vacation in August. I just needed to vent, thanks.

we booked some flights to Nashville (from Iowa) a couple weeks ago for $214. I thought that was a great price. Now two weeks later prices are up to $338 for the same flight. It really sucks the prices of stuff like gas. With prices of gas high it pushes everything else high. Even a loaf of bread because it costs more to get it to the store.

LOL I found out today just how much airlines have gone up... $944 including taxes and fees for me to fly from GA to Lake Charles, LA this weekend. And if I would've known a week sooner, I could've gone for about half the price!

That's so crappy!!! And unbelievable! I'm so glad Chris' parents are paying for our flights to Texas this July.

Beef, bread, eggs, milk, .... it's all too expensive now. :( On a positive note, we'll be getting back $1200 plus a little more from the government for our tax refund and rebate. Oh, and my birth control pills cost $10 now instead of $25, LOL!

Awww that's okay, you could be in California where the highest gas prices in the U.S. are.... we were at $3.49 at Arco yesterday, and the Bay Area is averaging $3.70something.

Does that make ya feel better?:flower:

A little bit. ;) I think gas is going to continue to go up. I carpool with my husband to work. We both have SUVs, such gas-suckers, but I'll never give mine up. Maybe we should start riding our bikes to places, heheh.

You and I are in the same boat. Matt and I drive to work together, and my little Ford Ranger gets about 13-15mpg :purplex:, but his f-250 gets about 8mpg :bbmad:. Time to fix the motorcycle and double up LOL.

Or you could be in Quebec where our gas runs about $1.20 a litre. There are approximately 4 litres in one gallon - yep .... we pay $4.80 or so a gallon. It costs us almost $60 to fill our tank.

Gas isn't the only thing going up.. Slowly the prices have been climbing at the grocery store, too.. Trust me, i hear it from my customers all the time, like i'm the one responsible. lol

Yuck, yuck, and double-yuck.

I can't wait until FH gets his truck that will be able to run on Biodiesel. At least that's cheaper...

The price increase is even affecting dog food! We feed expensive dog food because one of our dogs has severe allergies to grain, so we buy Natural Balance Allergy Formula and yesterday it cost me $50.00 for a 35 lb bag! We are going to have to figure something else out because since Jack (1 year old Golden/Chow mix) came home Mack goes through a 35 lb bag a week for his two. I can get through almost a month with my 2 so it isn't as bad. Mack jokes and tells me when we get married I am responsible for the dog food and he will pay all the bills, but at the rate things are going, that might be all I can afford! :puppy:

I hear ya! DH and I changed our vacation plans because the airline tickets were so expensive. We were going to go to Charleston, S.C., now we're staying in PA and going to Lancaster. Talk about a switch!

Now if only our salaries were following the trend....

I work at a bakery so the price of flour and siary has been a hot topic as of late. It sucks because it's such a vicious cycle-gas goes up so all the wheat farmers start growing corn to make money with all the ethanol based fuel or whatever it is, so then there is a shortage on wheat so flour goes up, but gas is still expensive so suppliers have to raise prices to keep up with the cost of flour then they tack on the rising cost of delivery, then they pass on the rising costs to their customers, and so on and so forth until it gets to us, who can't really charge anymore for our services lol so we are just stuck! I really hope these stimulus checks help the economy! That and hopefully the new president will quickly make some changes to counteract this recession. It's no fun!

I was watching the news and the guy said about half will spend their stimulus checks on debt (this applies to us). We will also use our check towards our Canada trip, so really we'll be stimulating Canada's economy, LOL!

We will be spending our rebate check; if and when we get one on debt, I known that some are saying that is not going to help the economy. I know not every one has the chance or desire to plant a garden; I love having my garden and it helps save the cost of things, as I can get a fair amount out of a 6-9 pack of plants. I also have chickens( just hens no rooster) to help with the cost of eggs; while there are only four of them, unless you live in an apartment you could have two hens maybe more if you got the bantam breeds. I have a friend who lives in New York; she has taken to driving an hour round trip, just to go to the farmer markets. She also trys to carpool every where as much as possible. I drive a mini-van; I think I get 18 in town and 25 or so on the hiway, but even i feel that when I have to drive a lot. It took me $55.00 the other day to top of a tank, that was only half full. Gas right now near me is $3.17-$3.30 a gallon. I have started doing quite a bit of freecycling lately and I even trade garden items with a friend. I have a neigbour that wants to learn to garden, so she will be coming over helping me weed and plant things and she will get to learn how as well as she will get to take stuff home. There are several good patio tomatoes out there that; even a person in an apartment could grow if they got enough sun.

How much is he feeding them? LOL

Our food hasn't increased that much. However, our hick town doesn't carry anything worth buying usually, so we have to drive an hour to Savannah to pick it up. We feed Canidae and a 40lb bag (~ $35-40) lasts us 2.5 months. Of course, we have two small dogs, but even our 45lb girl only eats 1.5 cups a day.

My dad was just complaining last night about paying that much for dog food, but I reminded him how long it lasts and had to go into the whole "high-quality food = less food per meal" discussion. I'd hate to see how fat the dogs would be if I let him feed them when I visit. :bblol:

He free feeds Maggie and Jack and as active as Jack is, he is always hungry. There isn't an ounce of fat on him either but hopefully as he gets older he won't be such a piggy boy! :puppy: I have had to stop free feeding my two as the vet told me I need to get about 10 lbs off of Wally, so we have gone to feeding once a day at 2.5 cups each (they are 60 lbs and 85 lbs but I'm feeding them at the 65- 75 lb chart) and it seems to be working. I'm hoping to take Wally back to the vet to weigh him in the next couple of weeks.

We are probably going to have to look at switching foods, but I still want a high quality, no/low grain food because it is so much better for them. (We have to have an allergy formula for Maggie because she has terrible allergies.) It is just crazy that the Natural Balance we are feeding now has jumped to $45.99 a bag when it was $39.00 last month.

Good luck with Wally's diet! Hopefully, the vet will have good news for him! Have you tried California Natural? It's really good for allergies, too, but I've noticed that a lot of places will either sell it at a GREAT price or a really high price--one extreme to the other. I've found that it is usually a little cheaper than Natural Balance.

I feel your pain. We farm and the fertilizer and amonia bill for just 200 acres was $18,000 last year and is over $31,000 for the same acreage and items a year later. Unforuntatley when the farmers up their opperating costs the cost of everything in the store goes up too. To be honest, we're lucky to have our own beef and eggs. It's crazy and a big stressor for everyone! Keep your head up you are not alone.

Its sad how much food has gone up, my dog food hasnt yet (thank goodness). We goto the gorcery every sunday and from week to week I can notices prices going up, not much just a few cents but after say a year those few cents have added up to alot. and gas is just rediculous, FH works about 30 miles South of where we live and I work about 10 miles North of where we live, so he spends ALOT in gas. What makes things even worse is my mom is about to loose her house, and I feel really bad for her. Her job cut all overtime about a year ago, every since she hasnt been able to keep up with her bills especially with rising fuel costs (for car and heat).

I am so sorry about your mom's house and bills, that is just horrible. I'm a little worried about this summer, gas prices are supposed to go up even more...:purplex:
