Taxes Question

This has all been a huge pain, things keep going wrong.

Skipping all the stuff that happened with our taxes we finally got things straightened out with our Mortgage interest and had it all done when I couldn't find our W2s. I had them the first time we went to file but the 2nd time, they are gone. I can get a copy of mine through my company, gonna go get that right now actually. Erik's company, a very small company, won't give him one...they say they don't have a copy. What can we do?

Do they have an outside payroll company? Is there someone he can contact there?

They refused to do it because I'm assuming it costs money to get it from the outside company.

Are you doing them online, or mailing them in? If you are doing them online maybe you could use the info from his last paycheck of the year...We do that to estimate our taxes before we get all the official paperwork and the numbers are the same.

I'll ask, I found a form to request another W2 and it's $39. I swear, it's one thing after another.

We worked it out ((phew)). I spoke to HR Block and they told me that his company should have a copy and if not we can just bring a recent pay stub, luckily we definitely have that!

you can also request a copy right from the irs. however i think his company was not being truthful. I think they have to keep a copy

Thats right, the company has to keep a copy that they file at the end of the year. That is unless they are doing something they should not be doing (ie not paying his taxes).
