The did you know game: You just post something that other posters might not know about you. It doesn't have to be anything too dramatic. I'll go first.

Did you know that my first pets were two goldfish named Jacques and Trustee after the dogs on "Lady and the Tramp"?

Did you know that I use go to the bar and get drunk after work nearly every night just to keep from going home ... then I would drive home drunk too? (This was right after my divorce, when I was living with my mom and dad) I thank God every day for watching over me during all that!

Did you know that I was sexually abused as a child? 1 out of every 4 girls in the US are.. It happened for years and I developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But, the good news is, I've been cleared of the diagnosis, and I'm over it for the most part!!

CanadianBride, I'm sorry!! I didn't know. I didn't want to hurt your feelings!! It's got to be tough, and if there's anything I can do, let me know. Hugs, sweetie.

Well, since we are all being so open ...

Did you know that I was raped when I was 16 ... twice, and within a couple of months of each other. The first time was by my BF and the other was by the guy that lived behind my parents; and I actually once had a crush on him. I never told anyone for many years and most people still don't know. Looking back on it, I know it really messed me up for a while. I had nightmares off and on for a really long time after. But, I am ok now.

Not to be mean but ... We are always glad to help and offer our advice and opinions, but it is impolite to 'hijack' another thread with an unrelated topic. You have already posted this in someone else's thread and I know that Cindy and I answered it. I know that we all do it at times but, I just thought I would mention it. I hope I have not upset you.

I had major issues after my rape when I was a teen too. It took many years to overcome them. Glad to know you were able to work through them.

Did you know that when I was 18, I received an insurance settlement from a car wreck i was in when I was 13, and spent $65,000 in 6 months? Brian loves to tease me about that!!!!

Wow, what did you spend the money on? I got an inheritence when I was 18, I think I got like $6k (much smaller amount ;)) I still don't really remember what I spent it on. I know I was married at the time and my slack ex husband wanted me to spend it all on him. My brother gets money every couple of years from a settlement when he was young, when he first got it (at 18) he blew through like $15K in 2 months, and didn't have much to show for it. I guess we didn't know how to manage money then ;) I am much better with money now and I think my brother is as well ... at least I hope he is, this was only a couple of years ago for him.

More about me ... Did you know that I have 3 siblings, (29, 22, and 20) all with the same birthday?

I can think of lots more 'dark secrets' to tell you all but, I don't know if I want too much of that kind of thing on an open forum :fear:

So how about this ... Did you know that I broke my hand and wrist in 3 places when I was young (10'ish maybe?) from tripping on a wet leaf on the ground? I was dubbed the 'Leaf Tripper' for many years after. I still have these little pains in my hand when I try to open a jar or something.

Did you know in high school I once missed a solid week of class because I answered the telephone. I was lying on my bed doing homeowrk and when the phone rang I rolled over to answer it and completely twisted the muscles in my lower back. I spent a week in bed because I couldn't walk and had to take heavey pain pills just to be able to stand it. My dad still makes fun of me.

Did you know... when i was 3 i contracted a disease that basically slowly ate away at all my muscles that eventually began to destroy my heart before i was able to get better.
From that i had i developed a heart murmer and i wasn't allowed to go the the dentist more then once a year, and when i did i had to take huge horse pill antibiotics to protect my body from possibly infections that i could contract if the dentist cut my gums in anyway.
After surgery when i was 12 i am ok and can see a dentist twice a year now. :D

Did you know that I broke my wrist when I was 13? I used to be a skater chick, and after a long day of doing stunts/tricks with my friends, I was on my way home. I tripped over a crack in the sidewalk and broke 3 bones in my right wrist. I had to wear a cast for 8 weeks, and learned to write with my left hand. Now I can wiggle my ulna back and forth since it's not attached to my hand completely, and it grosses most people out.

Maybe someday we'll all have to pick a central location and get together for a weekend. :gathering:

Vegas anyone? :drunk:

Did anyone watch Sex and the City enough to know what I mean by, my ex was Big. Carlo is Aidan. I mean, it's SCARY how alike it is. My name is even Carrie.

For two years, I was with Steve, only I wasn't with him. He was a handsome, funny, and we always got along great. Never fought about anything....but he was never avalable, he was always messing around with other girls... You know, the whole deal. So, I finally break it off, and the next day I met Carlo. He's not afraid of commitment, he's cute, he's smart, he's cute..

So now I get my happy ending.. But, Steve has tried many times to get my goat. He found me on Myspace and told me that he wishes that Elias was his child. Yeah.. I don't need that.

PS Carrie, I hate guys like that!! That is so heartless and cruel!! I would just throw it in his face how happy you are!!I guess great minds think alike, because I did. I told him that he had his chance. I'm getting married, and if he wanted me he should have taken the chance when he had it. I finally have someone who loves me back, and shows it by being there and caring about me. I told him that I have a family now, and that I love my son and FH more than anything.. Reminded him again that he had a chance, but blew it on other girls and partying (he worked at a local rock club running the sound board).

Did you know that I got addicted to online RPGs? Not like Worlds of Warcraft, but the ones that you make up a character and it's like an improvised short story.. I used to stay up all night and Role Play, listen to music, and smoke cigarettes. This was during the time period when things with Steve were nearing a head, and I'd talk to him maybe once every week or so. I would play all night, and sleep all day. I didn't want to talk to anyone, or do anything. I lived on hot tea and gram crackers for the most part. I know now that I was very depressed about things with my love life, and that was my way of hiding.

OMG, I feel the same way! I have to shower before and after!! Do they think that little tissue they give you makes you feel better?! I use to be so terrified about the whole thing that I didn't go to my 1st one until I was like 25!

Did you know ... I feel so bad about going to my yearly that I have to take a blanket with me to cover up. I see a woman Dr but even still I feel weird ... and I usually don't get to see the same Dr either which I am sure adds to it all. I don't know, I feel embarrassed, uncomfortable, degraded  I just hate it! Then sometimes on top of all that I get freaked out that they might find something wrong with me :bawling: I have to go back in March and I am SO Dreading it!! OMG, I just don't want to go :bbcry: I wish they could come up with sort of a scan or something.

Did you know that after my firsyt pap, they DID find someting? I had to get chryo surgery and get my cervix frozen off, and it took it a month to grow back. If I hadn't gotten it then, I might have developed cancer!! I've been going to the same doctor since my very first visit, and I think he's the greatest.

Did you know that after 2 months of being a mom, I have NO SHAME when it comes to nursing in public. I do have a shawl over us, but once it slipped, and I didn't even bat an eye. ;)

Plus, did you know that it makes me mad when people stare? When we were on the plane, this lady was looking over every so often, like there was something wrong with it. Hello?! That's what they're for!! :bbmad:

Did you know that I feel sort of weird when I see that in public? (Please don't hate me) I don't know why ... I don't stare or anything, I just look away and try to pretend it isn't there. I would leave the room when my sister did it when my niece was little. I was so glad when she switched to the bottle.

Once DH and I were at a restaurant and this woman at the table across from us did it right there at the table! We asked to be relocated and the woman gave us a dirty look. Yeah she had a shawl but ... I just feel that should be done in private; just the same as changing a diaper. I don't know, maybe it is just because I don't have kids. I would never stare, I know it is 'natural' and all and I would never say anything to anyone, I just don't want to see it.

I am sorry if I upset you Carrie! I hope you don't hate me! I still luv ya :D

I am sorry and this is totally off the subject but I just realized you are from East Texas, are you from near Tankersley Rose Garden? That is where my friend got married, I was her MOH. I think her husband is from Mt. Pleaset or Pleasnt Hill or something like that, I used to live in Dallas!

CarlosHoney

No, Brandi, I don't hate you.. I just think that it's society that needs to chill out about it. America is the only country in the world that has turned the breast into such a taboo... It's okay to bare them to wear something revealing, but, oh no, don't feed your baby with it!!

With Elias, I do pump. I'm storing up milk for when I go back to work.. But if I'm in the room he WON'T TAKE A BOTTLE!! He'll put it in his mouth and just taste it, then cry for the breast.

I used to get a little uncomfortable with it, but when you have a baby, you loose all self consciousness. I was really freaked out the first time I did it in public, but sometimes it's just not posible. Like on the airplane.. and when he won't eat from a bottle. And a lot of places don't have a private place to sit, other than a bathroom stall. I always feed him right before we leave, and if need be, I'll take him somewhere private. It's just not always possible.

But, did you know that Carlo and I "hooked up" the first night we were together? I know it's a no-no, but I just couldn't help it. Nither of us had ever done that before... and did you know that I'm the 2nd girl Carlo has ever been with?

Carrie, I also nursed mine in public. Like you I would attempt to go somewhere private, but if not.......hey a baby's gotta eat!

Eric and I "hooked up" the day I broke up with my boyfriend as some of you know Eric and I were already friends when we got togeher. We started hanging out because I was dating his friend. I know that's a little scandalous but hey there was chemistry w me and Eric and not so much with his friends. No hard feelings with the other guy though. Did you know that when i was about 4, I LOVED Randy Travis, and quite adamantly believed that I would marry him when I grew up? My mom and dad were going to take me to the concert on my 4th Birthday, but the tickets were $90 a piece... That was in '88.. So needless to say, we didn't go. Same thing happened with New Kids on the Block. I wanted to go, the tickets were WAY too much.

OMG?! Lance Bass? He's the one that looks 12 right? MY friend in high school loved NSync, and they figured out that Joey Fatone = Joey Fat One, and he was.. The fat one. :bblol:

Did you know that after that one guy set that hotel on fire from NKOTB, IO stopped listening to them? He was into drugs, which I thought were BAD!! And then I disowened them forever...

Then, when I got out of high school, I started smoking pot all the time and tried a few different hallucenogens. I stopped, and life is so different than it was.

I have a different perspective on things, but I don't hate drugs. I don't think that they're bad at all. Bad people may sell them, and some drugs aren't good for anyone... It's not black and white and I think that too many people think that it is.

Did you know Mark and i had been dating nearly 3 weeks when he first told me that he loved me.
I didn't exactly feel the same way at the time. He got a bit freaked out because of what happend with his parents and broke up with me the following week. The next day he called me back and said he was sorry and that he didn't really not want to see me. I was completely devistated by it and couldn't figure out why until i saw him for the first time after that. That's when i found out that i love him too.

Did you know that I am also freaked by the "yearly" check up!!?? Now that we are going to begin seeing a fertility doctor, I might as well get used to having a lot of people poking around down there!! I just got a letter from them today telling us what doctor we will see... I went onto their website and check HER out!! Yes I said her!! That makes me feel a bazillion times better!!

Did you know, I am now not so scarred to go to the fertility clinic?? Lol...except for maybe running into my (evil) SIL there, thats my only fear!! I don't want her to know anything!!!

Ok, this is probably going to weird y'all out, but did you know I CANNOT have a female OBGYN. I don't even like the female nurse being in the room and watching. I have no problem with homosexuals, I guess I am just NOT one of them! It bothers my FH tremendously because he doesn't like the idea of another guy touching me down there, even if it is for medical reasons.

Here's another one (I'm lumping them together since I missed out on so much):

Did you know I'm apparently one of the only people on here who hasn't broken her wrist? I broke my leg when I was a toddler by rolling off the changing table (my mother has HUGE I'm-a-bad-mommy moments contributable to that) and I chipped off the end of the bone of my left hand middle finger my senior year of high school by drilling a hole into it. You can't tell; it's not like the finger is shorter or anything, but the doctor gave me the tiny piece of bone to keep.

Did you know I went to the hospital for a concussion and came out on crutches? I had fallen down some steps and slammed my head into the concrete so I had to go to the hospital. Well, while I was sitting there (for SIX hours on a gurney in the hallway!) my knee swelled up to the size of a grapefruit. I spent seven weeks on crutches. I was at college and lived in a dorm room that was up seven flights of stairs with no elevator. To top it off, it was in northern Michigan, so there was snow and ice for part of that time, even though it was only October! AHHH!

Did you know that you girls are pretty much my only friends too? I have two old college friends I keep in touch with and a friend from high school and my FH, but that's about it. I love getting on here to talk to you guys and as I read more and more in this thread, I felt even more like we all are best friends. If only we could figure out a way to get together!

Did you know that my FH and I "hooked up" before we started technically dating? (Got all y'all first date hook ups covered!) We really liked each other, but I was coming out of a serious relationship and didn't want to use him as my rebound. We were hanging out and one thing led to another and...well ya. Now we're getting married! :)

Last one; this is to go with Lacey's white panties with words of them: did you know I wear christmas panties year round? I have two pairs that are really comfortable, so I wear them quite frequently. I have a pair on right now that say "Don't Open Until Christmas!" My FH jokes that that's a LONG time to have to wait!

Carrie I am so glad you don't hate me! Did you know that I have been thinking about that post for hours and sort of wished I could take it back.

Did you know ... I have been tired alot lately and having headaches and dizzy spells. I went to the Dr and they ran some tests and found nothing wrong with me and suggested it could be migraines ... I went back for a follow up today and my primary care Dr asked if I had been stressed, and I have been. I ended up breaking down right there in the Dr's office. :bbcry: So she suggested I go to see a counselor to help me deal with the stress. So now I am stressed about that :bawling: I was in tears the whole way home ... I must be really messed up :(

OK, I will stop now ... I know you all must think I am crazy; but thanks for listening. Maybe this will be good for me, as I have said before I really don't have many people to talk to ... I am glad to have you ladies here.

On a lighter note ... Did you know, I am wearing Pink Panther panties ;)

Aww i'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with Stress Brandi. It's not easy. Hopefully talking to a counciller will help you figure out what's going on.

Did you know, this past Janurary my Doctor told me that i will basically have to take Anti-Depressants for the rest of my life because my body doesen't make enough of the right chemicals to balance itself out.
I have been on and off anti-depressants for 8 years now. I have been so far down that i could barely get out of bed and i was terrified to go to class and even more terrified to come home because i had such bad anxeity. I have been happy one second then a total :censored: and a complete disaster or tears and rage the next.

Did you know I suffer from the same thing!! Only now, I take natural meds and don't have take antidepressants any more! They make me terriably sick!! I almost died because of my depression!! Now I am afraid that it will come back to haunt me at the fertility clinic! What if they don't think I am stable enough to handle the stress of the treatements!!

I have some catching up to do:

Did you know that I have NEVER broken a bone (knock on wood)? I cracked my tail bone once but it wasn't officially broken.

Did you know that Sean and I too hooked up on our first date. I was on the rebound from a very bad relationship and it had been awhile for him. Thankfully he still called the next day.

Did you know that my parents divorced when I was in college? It caused such a severe depression for me that I had to withdrawl from school and move home with my mom. I didn't eat or get out of bed or do anything for almost 6 months.

I've had depression on ond off all my life. I finally feel like I'm coming out of it. The worst it ever got was right before I had Elias. Now, though Carlo and I fight, and I'm hopelessly devoted to the baby, I feel better than I ever have.

Did you know that most of the time I wear no panties? I started "going commando" back in high school, and just love it! The only time I wear them is when I'm in a dress/skirt, or when I'm going shopping and want to try on clothes.

About the 'hooking up' thing ... I made out (heavily) with my DH on our first date, we 'did it' on our second date. I felt bad after but we had know each other for a couple of weeks. And the next day he called and asked me to be his GF

Did you know ... My DH has only been 'with' 3 other girls besides me; and he was 23 his first time. Me on the other hand, different story (I was 16 and I need both hands to count how many) and I use to worry that he wouldn't love me if he knew. Did you know; I invited the little old lady down the street to lunch today and she almost cried ... I guess I made her day. She seemed happy that I came by just to say hi. She lives alone and doesn't have any family that lives out here. I feel bad that I have been here for 5 years and only waved to her in passing. She came by while we were outside the other day just to say hi. So I figured I might should make a better effort to be more neighborly. It sort of made me feel good to know I made her day. I may invite her to Easter dinner too. Now I am afraid my mom will find out and be jealous

Did you know that I can get metis status and get some free things out of the government, but I don't because I don't look the slightest bit native and feel its wrong for me to do so! It drives me crazy because I was talking to my grandma and she said "Oh there must be a lot of metis people up there where you are living." I said "no grandma, they are native, not everyone is metis like you think!" She thinks just because she is considered "Metis" (her mother was native, her father was Irish and thats what Canada calls the children of these relationships.) then everyone else who is full blood native is a metis!! Jeese grandmas, they get so stuck in their ways sometimes! Though I always thought we had some Native blood in our family I never thought I could actually prove it!! I'm an 1/8th. All my mom's family are rushing out and getting their metis cards and using the gov't and my mom and I refuse, making us the black sheep...everyone is so mad at us, but we both look at each other and see caucasion people, not Natives...I am proud that my great grandma was a native, I wish I could know more about her, but she died when my Grandma was 14, so I don't know a lot about her. And I can't stick it to the Government either, we can afford everything we've got and more, so why take away from other people (that means every color of person!!) who can use the help, they deserve it more then I ever will!! Anyhow, sorry about my ranting and raving, my granny drives me nuts sometimes!!

Did you know when I was born I was so jaundice that I had to spend 10 days in the hospital before the doctor would let me go home.
My oldest son had jaundice too. It was "blood type incompatibility" He had to have the lights for 7 days, but when I was released (I had a c-section so I had to stay 5 days), I rented the lights and took the baby home with me because I was pissed at the nursery nurses because the let my baby cry for 30 mins while they had lunch instead of bringing him to me so I could nurse him. I threw such a fit that they move the lights into my room so he could be with me for the rest of my stay.

Did you know that being around my neice and nephews (ages 3, 2, and 1) Im really starting to wish I had a baby around the house?:bbeek: Like we NEED anymore kids!!!!!!

Did you know that I got a free hospital pump because my hospital stay was SO HORRIBLE??? First, the delivery nurse was a :censored: and chewed me out because my step mom turned off the IV tubes.. She's a nurse, and I had blood running down my arm. They put the needle in the wrong place.

Then, they never showed me how to do the sitz bath, and I didn't even know to do it until the doctor came in to discharge me two days later. I told them that I was going to breastfeed, and they kept giving him formula to drink. I'd go pick him up, and they'd tell me that he just ate. :bbmad:

It took the pediatrician 4 hours to come discharge my son, and even then, he didn't even look at him. He just signed the paper. The Lactation Consultant didn't come visit until she recieved doctor's orders, and she only stayed for 5 minutes. She tried to get him latched on (as in, taking my boob and putting it in his mouth, no asking...just doing!) and when he didn't latch (he was sleepy and full of formula) she said she'd come back. She never did. :(

I had to ask for my meds, they never just gave them to me, and they sent meat up even though I told the dietician that I didn't eat it. By the last day, I just told them not to waste their time bringing me food, because I wasn't going to eat it.

So, if I ever have another baby, it won't be in that hospital for sure. Hopefully I could have it at home, so that no one would tell me that I can't have a glass of water when I haven't had anything to eat or drink in 18 hours.

Oh, and Cindy, just come borrow Elias.. By the time he gets fussy at 6pm, I'm sure you'll have had enough! :bbmrgreen:

The other thing is that some dogs make me sneeze and my eyes water but I don't really know what it is about them that causes this. I don't know what to do, I keep going back and forth about it.

I am such the bad wife.

Also, check out some local churches. They are always ready to help families who need it. My mother had to do that a few times.

Did you know that trier is one of the oldest cities in germany. Trier is one-thousand and three hundred years during medievil at the time. And that also is where the porta nigra is. Which means the black gate. This gate was used back in roman times. To keep certain people in and out of the city. The apmhiteatre is also in trier. This is where the gladiators fought in those days. My husband and I went here to all of these places to look at architecture and history. If anyone visits germany go to trier where the romans once lived.

I agree, I have been able to learn alot about everyone. It's a great place to share the silly, and some times unfortunate (sometimes secret) things that we may not be able to tell someone personally.

Did you know that I had an abortion when my son was 15 because his father refused to work, and I was already working 2 jobs to support us. I was scared that I would end up on the street w two small children.

Heather, I will be honest with you, you will always carry it around, but the hurt AND the hate will fade. I had 2 children under the age of 2 when I had mine. I felt I had no other choice. I had these 2 babies to take care of BY MYSELF and I had to put them first.

Did you know that Im going just a little bit nuts because I still have 2 months till my wedding and nothing wedding related to do? The few things I still have to do, I have to wait to do, so the NOT doing anything wedding is driving me nuts. I feel like I should be doing something...INEED TO BE DOING SOMETHING!!!!! Of course Brian thinks its funny as h3ll and teases me about it. I just want to :chair: when he starts in on me about it. Cindy and Heather ... I know that it is not easy to deal with the emotions after an abortion. No, I have never had one but I would if I ended up pregnant and I would probably feel bad, but I would have to do it. Funny, I have personal beliefs against it but I know I would do it if I had to. I know my opinions about this are not popular but, the way I see it, it is better than having a child you don't want and/or can't take care of. What I hate to see is when girls use this an a form of birth control. I know one girl that has had 3! She just doesn't take the proper precautions, even after all this, she is quite the 'ho' actually.

So, don't beat yourself up over this. The pain will pass, the memory may not but, like everything in life, you will learn and grow from this too

Anyway ... Did you know that I almost want to call my mom and tell her about us getting a dog, but I know she will just have some stupid comment to make  (She is never very supportive, plus I have made comments about not liking dogs, but it is mostly just hers I don't like) It will be funny when we get the dog and I don't tell her, then one day she finds out ;)

When Brian and I went out the weekend after my birthday, we ended up at a friends of his house and they had kittens, well we fell in love with one and brought him home even though Brian kept saying his bird dog was gonna eat it. Heather, I will be honest with you, you will always carry it around, but the hurt AND the hate will fade. I have to agree with Cindy. I had one almost 3 years ago, and that's why Elias is here. The first time, Carlo and I had only been together for a couple of months. We were really scared, and went ahead and did it. Well, I cried through the whole thing, and had to go to therapy to help me throuh it.

I feel sad that I lost a life, but I did it as soon as I found out, and I had to wait a week in fact, because I wasn't far enough along to get it done.

I used to have nightmares.. But I stopped having them. Since Elias is in my life, I feel like I'm going to make up for it a little. I'm going to do the best I can with raising him. My mom wanted me to get another one when I got pregnant with Elias. I told her no ****ing way, and that se'd just have to get over it.

Elias

To see you smiling back at me,
it gives me a simple reason to be.
To know you--
it is to know
pure
love.

My darling boy,
you are the sun.
This universe, it merely exhists,
I feel blessed to be in the midst
of your light.

Innocent,
fresh,
new. You.

The rhythm of my life,
the science of my melody.
Stars and trees, and water and air...

It all would be useless unless you were there.

That's beautiful Carrie!

Did you know that I bought two wedding gowns? I bought one on Ebay (Maggie Sottero Deserei) and then on a whim I went to Davids bridal and found the perfect dress. I hated it on the hanger too. I just tried it on to be nice to the sales girl.

Thanks!! I cried while writing it.

Did you know that I've always wanted to have some sort of instructional show? I just like talking people through things, and I think it would be fun. When I was younger, I'd do my makeup and pretend that I had a show about ow to do makeup.

Yeah, I'm a nerd. Did you know that I've neve told anyone about that?

Did you know that when I have a horrible day I bust out my Original London Cast recording of "Jesus Christ Superstar". I tis always nice to know that no matter how bad my day gets it probably won't be as bad as his.

Did you know that I love to use nailpolish to paint things? Paintings, crafts, and a vase that I made out of a candle holder tonight!! I'm using it at the wedding to decorate the guestbook table. ;)

Did you know that I cannot stand to wear nailpolish. I can "feel" on my fingernails and it gags me.

Did you know that DH and I found the dog we want (an Italian Greyhound) but now we are having a hard time finding where to actually get one locally :bbcry: But I am gonna keep looking.

In case anyone wondered, the Italian Greyhound is not as big as a regular greyhound. They only get about 20 lbs or so and are only 15-20 inches tall. It was DH's idea and I didn't like them at first but they are growing on me ;)

Here is a pic ...

Did you know that it just took me like an hour to catch up on all the posts in this thread since I've been gone from my computer for like five days!! You ladies were busy with the did ya knows...lol.

Did you know that I don't appreciate people judging other people on their past!? (when those people know nothing about these other people!!) Oh well, thats their loss that they judge a book by its cover because we all know the truth about each other !!! (and love each other for who we are!!)
