Has anyone had any luck on finding honeymoon destinations, ect. for frugal couples? Couldn't find any reference on the board. If I overlooked, please link.

Well it really depends on what you enjoy and where you are at. Also, reasonable is a relative term. My advice would be to look around someplace like www.expedia.com, www.travelocity.com., www.walmart.com (don't laught their vacation deals aren't too shabby). Search for vacation packages and see what they have there. If those are more than what you want to spend I know several people who are just driving a couple of towns over and staying a few days at a nice hotel. Another couple of brides I talk to are just going camping which is very cost effective, especially if you already camp frequently and have the equipment. If you have friends or family members that have vacation properties maybe ask if they could leave you the use of it for a couple days in lieu of a wedding gift. You wouldn't ahve to pay for a hotel and you could do a lot of your cooking and eating in saving you some money. You would just need travel money and some extra money to do a couple of things while you were away.

You should try booking at an all inclusive. We booked through Sandals. For two people for four nights in Jamaica we are paying $1300. That includes meals at 11 different places, drinks at the multiple bars at the resort and 2 neighboring Sandals resorts, scuba (if you are certified), snorkling, wind surfing, etc. The hotels have private beaches and I've heard they are really nice. I'm excited. We booked so soon because you can make payments and don't have to pay all at once. They can book your airfare with the package, but so far out you can't do that. We have a friend who works for an airline anyway so we are going through him and aren't worrying about Sandals booking airfare.

We went on a cruise on our Honeymoon, it was reasonalble. We paid less than $1000 for a 5 night cruise and we got an upgraded stateroom. We had a good time, this might be an option to look in to. Carnival seems to be the most affordable cruise line - http://www.carnival.com You might also check out your local travel agent and see what kind of deals they can get you.

We might go to Austin for the night, and the next day. Since our wedding reception will be over by 9:00, and Austin is only an hour away, we will probably do that. Late dinner, maybe some dancing, and some breakfast, shopping, and lunch the next day.
My dad is going to keep the baby the night of the wedding so that we can you know....spend some time together and get some sleep. ;) So, if he's going home that day, he can drop Elias off in Austin with us, we can spend the day there, and then we'll go home that afternoon. :)
Check out those websites for sure.. Some friends went on a cruise and loved it... And my mom went to one of those all inclusive resorts and had a great time. Whatever you do, as long as you're together, right? :bbmrgreen:

We couldn't afford a large amount for our honeymoon either, so we picked a place we could drive to, so we weren't paying five hundred plus dollars for two plane tickets. Then we looked for something that was all inclusive and, rather than spend big bucks on the fancy pants room with the champagne glass hot tub and personal swimming pool, we picked a simpler room...I mean, after all, all we'll really need is a bed and some sort of plumbing for restrooms and showers...
We chose Caesar's Poconos Resorts. I told them my budget and they helped me pick the best option to go with that. We're staying five days, four nights (Monday - Friday) so we're not paying any weekend rates and they cut us a deal for the nights we were staying. They offered quite a few options and we still get all the special honeymoon stuff that someone staying in the special really expensive rooms would get.

I agree! Do look into cruises. Like WebLady I have seen cruises for under a $1000. Too bad you are not within driving distance of a port. I know lots of people who go on cruises here from Galveston. All they have to pay for is the cruise and parking. It saves the airfare!

Yeah, we drove to the port in Jacksonville, FL. We had wanted to take a cruise to Hawaii but we would have to fly to the port in that case. I forget where it was leaving from.
