Well I need help because when I booked the venue on the only available date I didn't realize it was Labor day weekend, so now I am scrambling and freaking out because I don't know what to do. I don't know if people will come or if there is anything extra that I need to do please help me if you have any advice at all. I dont really know to much about weddings and go figure im planning it all myself.
Thanks, Liz

You can send out Save the Dates to your guests, so they won't make other plans for that weekend.

Ok, I would do the same thing she suggested. Send out Save The Date cards/magnets, but if you could, go ahead and call out-of-towners and guests that normally make vacation plans well in advance and let them know that your wedding date is on that weekend and you would really be honored if they could attend. I would also tell them that you are going to be sending out Save The Date cards/magnets so that they have it in writing also.

I don't think there is really anything special you should do for this date that you wouldn't do for others ... you will probably have some people that may not want to come out because of the holiday, but your real friends and family should still come if given enough notice. So the STD's might be a good idea :)

The save the date is a great idea! Also if you have family and friends traveling from far you may want to look into reserving a block at a local hotel and sending that information with your Save the date. Good Luck :)

Save the dates worked really well for ours. We got married Mothers day weekend, So I deffiantly feel you on the stress of a holiday weekend and paying more for things. I deffaintly paid more for my flowers since mothers day weekend is the busiest time for flowers. :ooh:

We purposely chose a holiday weekend (Memorial Day weekend) to give our out-of-towners an extra day to get back home. It also allowed us to spend an extra day on our honeymoon, because we didn't have to take a vacation day to be off that Monday. So there are good things about using a holiday weekend too :)
Just sent out STD cards and you'll be fine :)

we are thinking of having our wedding on memorial day weekend 2009. I thought it would be a great idea because my entire family lives 6 hours away and would be driving in. but FH thinks everyone will have other plans or be busy. i just thought it would be a courtesy to my family because most would already be off work for that monday and wouldn't need to take any extra days off. did you have anyone complain or not show up at your wedding because of memorial day weekend??

did you have anyone complain or not show up at your wedding because of memorial day weekend??Only one of my uncles/aunts didn't show up because they already had plans for that weekend. Almost everybody else came and there were no complaints :)
