Ok girls I need your help and sage advice. When RC bought my engagement ring is was set in yellow gold with platinum prongs. I kinda had my heart set on platinum but once I saw the ring I fell in love with it. RC ordered me a setting in platinum and we were told it would take about 6 months to get here. My delima is should I switch the setting? My watch and braclet that I ALWAYS wear on my left wrist is stainless and white gold.

Maybe it's too early still .... but I am not seeing the dilemma.

You didn't think you would like anything else but platinum but, you love your yellow gold engagement ring. Will it go with your watch & bracelet?

IMHO yes .... many pieces today are made up of the two colours of gold. I personally don't see anything wrong with wearing both colours of gold (or platinum or silver) at the same time.

I voted to just keep it as is...You said you loved it when he gave it to you :) Did soemthing change at all? Or was it just the fact that he already purchased the platinum setting and that has you thinking about changing it???

You have a great ring already! Keep it as is. I think the platinum prongs will save your watch and bracelet. I imagined my dream ring when I was young, and it was always two-toned to coordinate with everything!

Everything I owned was white gold or sterling silver before FH presented me with my gorgeous ring-- it's a sapphire in a six-prong, 18K gold setting! I LOVE the ring, and my white gold necklaces and earrings didn't look bad with it at all, but my favorite sterling silver bracelet looked terrible next to it.

So, time to get a new bracelet, guilt-free! An 18K GOLD bracelet, hehe! Worst case scenario, think of it as an excuse to buy new shinies.

I know I feel bad to add to the expense of the ring. He wanted to get the platinum from the beginning but they did not have any marque set in platinum at the time. Lots of princess and round but he hates those. It would be the only upgrade I ever get. I'm also don't know if I want to give it to the store for the few days it will take for their jewler to fix it. I would feel naked without it. the only thing making me lean towards doing it is that all my diamonds are set in white gold. not that I have a lot but he got me my bracelet for Valentines last year and I got my earrings several years ago. Right now the only thing I wear that is yellow is my hawaiian name bracelet.

I think that if you fell in love with it the way he gave it to you then I would keep it that way! Good Luck!

If he wanted to get you Plat and they did not have, it and you always wear plat, I guess I am different change it. It is not like he had his heart set on gold gold, he wanted to get you PLAT...so change it so you will match :)

I wonder why it's so hard to find a marquise-shaped ring in platinum? :/ I love that shape, myself, but now that I think about it, the few brides I know with marquise diamonds have a yellow gold setting...

I would keep it. There are lots of rings/watches/braclets, etc. that are both silver and gold. If you love it, don't return it! Who knows, someday you may decide you like gold better because it matches the ring you love! Lots of luck!!

My vote is to switch to the platinum. It'll match more of your other jewelry! Plus, I agree... he WANTED to get you platinum in the first place...

Last night he told me that he wanted me to have the platinum. He said that he felt bad that he couldn't get me what I wanted from the very beginning and that is why he ordered the new setting. so girls I'm going for it. Plus there is the fact that he has ordered me a custom platinum wedding band for our first anniv. He said that he wanted it to be a secret but since I was on the fence he felt like he had to tell me. Got to love that man of mine!
