My next tattoo

So I have been working with my tattoo guy on a design to sort of represent my marriage. I figured on it being some sort of intertwined heart thing and I wanted the infinity symbol in there somewhere; sort of saying "two hearts come together as one ... for eternity"

I came up with a really rough sketch and a similar tattoo I saw on someone else. This is what he sent me today, what do you guys think ...

I like it, but I can't decide if it looks enough like two hearts coming together.

I haven't decided for sure on the color ... I was thinking maybe blue since that color is suppose to represent fidelity, or maybe purple or just black and gray.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw it too so I must have a weird brain too! The hearts kinda look like cobra's dancing.

We named him Justin .... but I wish someone had mentioned all the "just in case" jokes beforehand ....

I'd say fill in the lines so that they're solid - that would take from the cobra look. $0.02

That's funny.. I had a friend in high school who wanted to marry a guy with the last name of time and she wanted to name her son Justin. I never understood her :)

I love it! At first glance i thought it was one heart but after I looked at it I could see the 2 hearts! Very unique...I wanted Charlie and I to get matching tattoos and cant wait :)

I just discovered that the heart and infinity symbol is sort of a logo for Polyamory (more than one love interest/non-monogamy) :bbeek:

No...I don't think it is anywhere too close to that design. Your's has alot more flair and distinction to it.

I like your design but agree that it needs to be filled in so it takes away the snake look.

That is a good choice in size. You don't want it too small or the lines might bleed together. By putting it on your calf you can look at it all the time and think of your honey:heart:. I have two on my back and have to look in a mirror to see them but, I love them being there! Best of luck

I just don't know if I am really feeling it though; I am not "wowed" ... I am sure it would look better once it was done and shaded and all, but I don't want to do it and be stuck with it if I don't love it. I don't know what is missing though.

I like the original idea, but it didn't look as much like two hearts as the new one, imo. I love the infinity symbol at the bottom...but the whole polygamy thing would make me hesitant of folks taking it like that, eep!

DH and I talked about this last night; I think I am gonna get rid of the infinity symbol altogether. I am gonna talk to the tattoo guy and come up with something similar to other tattoo design and this hearts he drew up.

I Think Its Great Just The Way It Is, I Would Not Worry About The Infinity Symbol, I Would Not Have Matched The Two, And In Fact Your Meaning Would Have Popped Into My Head Before The Polyamory Thing.

I am sure I will loose my $40 deposit for heart design and I will tip him for the trouble too. I am sure it will work out.

I really like this idea and now I am super excited; I just have to remember it will take more time to work out the new design and how to incorporate the 3 pieces to sort of flow into one. How awesome it would be to be able to do it for like $500 (since that is what I have saved) and be able to get it done in the next month or so :laugh:

I am gonna have him make the chickadee at the top facing front instead of looking off to the side. And move the ladybug (shown as a little circle) on the top of the one flower more on the bottom.

Other than that, I love it and I am excited! What do you guys think?

Yeah, that is a scorpion on the back of my neck; I got it cause my zodiac sign is scorpio not because I really like scorpions :upsidown: I am thinking I may cover it one day, just not all that into the zodiac anymore. But I'd have to come up with something better and I have no ideas yet :laugh:

I love the tree one. And the butterfly. And the heart of mary-looking one. I tried to get a really girly-looking heart of mary on my ankle, but they wouldn't make it small enough (it had some roses with a lot of detail on it), so I finally had to scratch that idea. So for now, I'll stick with my Russian tattoo.

I went to the artist with ideas and elements I wanted in the piece and he gave me ideas how to make it work and this is what we came up with.
