Hey everyone!
Well last week i had to cancel my booking for my reception! I had started talking to the caterer the last week in January. For my budget he told me on several occasions that i would not be dissapointed! He could do great things with my budget. Well, i chased him and he would promise to get something to me and when those dates would come and go, I would call. He would keep making excuses. Finally last sunday I called and left a message. He sent me the email. It looked like it had been slapped together! He was offering me the following: Pickle and onion platter, colslaw, patatoe salad, my choice of roasted chicken or roast beef and dessert squares. for 42.49 a plate. That was the straw that broke the camels back!! So, i emailed the gal at the hotel back requesting my deposit back and thanked her for her time. She is very sorry for what happened. She asked me if i could write a brief letter to her so she could pass it on to the gm. I told her it was not her fault. I just expect honesty and integrity!! If you cant do weddings say so or cant work within my budget say so. Instead of stringing a client along!!
I thought i was going to have a breakdown! I now have to start over. Find a new reception place and caterer! When i called places in december they were already booking places. Thank god i have a very strong maid of honor!! She said take a deep breath and we will get it fixed! Has anyone been in this situation or in this situation right now???
Sorry so long!!

I'm sorry to hear you were pulled arround like that! That totally sucks! I've been fortunet that i haven't had that happen to me with planning the wedding. I think i would cry if it did.
Definatly write them a letter in regards to your service. That is not fair. You didn't deserve to be blown off like that.
Keep at it, i know you'll find somthing really great!

Sorry to hear about all that  but, like your MOH said, just take a deep breath and you will get it worked out :D
The wedding I am working with (a friend's daughter) had the baker cancel, so now we are struggling to find a cake (that we can afford) ... the wedding is March 11th! That and the bride still hasn't gotten the music and all straightened out. I don't think she realizes what still needs to be done and how little time we have left. OK, now I am getting stressed ;)

$42.49 per plate for that! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. When is your wedding? You said December, right? I am having my wedding in December and I booked by site in early January. I've found it to be true that a whole bunch of wedding/party related things are already booked for December.

I was thinking somewhere in Canmore. But, now we are looking into somewhere in Banff. I have a few leads. So this thursday we are going to Banff to check it out. Thank you!! I just have to keep checking things out!!!:bblol:

I love Banff it is wonderful!! There is one place that I would suggest but you have to check out their prices and banquet room. Its the buffallo mountain lodge! My DH and I stayed there a week before Valentine's day and we loved it! We kept saying how it would have been gorgeous to get married there!! Pictures would be awesome, etc. So maybe thats one that you might want to check out!! Best of luck! The only other I can suggest is the Fairmont...but would probably cost an arm and TWO legs!! lol. Take care!

Hey gals,
I found new wedding location. Windtower Lodge & Suites. We love it!! Its located in Canmore. We had two options. A formal banquet room or a Bisto
We picked the bistro.
Now i can get on with the rest of the fun stuff!!!

Teri, glad to hear you found a new place! Sounds like you are really happy with what you found. I think I would have picked the bistro as well.
It was a blessing in diguise that you had problems now instead of on your wedding day.
