I just went to hobby lobby and in both the scrapbook section and the wedding section they had packages of vellum paper. I WAS going to use them for my first batch of invitations and I just printed them like I would any other paper. There are usually instructions on the back of the package that tells you what settings to use on the printer.
But you just have to be careful when touching them after printing cause they can smadge easy. But all in all they are easy to use! Good Luck!!:bblol:

Oh that would work great. As long as the picture is on a seperate paper behind the vellum I think it would turn out just fine!! You just have to play around with it so I would get a couple extra sheets just in case some get smeared or something!

I am using vellum on my invites and I found it at this site for pretty cheap. They will let you order samples and it only costs a few dollars. Mine came within a week too. I would suggest ordering a few different samples to see and feel them and to try in your printer. That way you can compare which thickness and style you like best. That is what I did. I am also doing a picture behind the vellum and wording on the vellum.
These guys rock, I would definitely recommend them. They will custom cut the paper for you too for a small fee.

This is the one that I love. It is "brushed"- has a tiny bit of texture so it looks very elegant. I love it! It worked great with my printer too.

I used velum in my invites. I got the velum for staples. I bought the kind for inkjet printers to be sure it didn't smear. I highly recommend it, and it was 50 sheets for $10.
Here is what my invite looks like:

Danielle- those are wonderful! How did you cut the corners of the vellum? That little extra adds so much to the invite!

Thank you! It's just a simple paper puncher. You can find all different kinds in the scrapbooking section at any craft store

Danielle, these are gorgeous... is the image printed on the vellum or the cardstock?

Thank you. The image is printed on cardstock. It is 3 layers. The brown recycled cardstock. Then the white cover stock (67lb, I didn't want to make it too heavy and pay an arm and leg to send them) and the image of us is printed on that. Then the velum, and the wording is printed on that.

I tried to print on vellum with my home printer and hade some problems with the printer sucking the paper in crooked.
