My FH and I are going to JP or Niagara falls to get married and having our reception when we come back from honeymoon. He didn't want big and fancy so we opted for a low key type of reception. We are having a picnic style buffet (lunchmeat sandwiches, salads, beans...etc), cake, still doing the bouquet/garter toss, and instead of a dj we are going to play games. I have a bunch of games to choose from, but I am trying to narrow my field down some. I am wondering what are some of everyone's favorite wedding/shower/party games? SOme of the games i have are word scrambles, bingo, how well does bride/groom know each other, guess the mans item from the clues (gives clues about handyman type tools and you have to guess what they are), match the famous couples, wedding wives tales, among others. I just wanted to hear what others opinions are on what are good games to play and others that weren't so fun. Thanks for your opinions.:flower:

I like your backyard picnic idea for a low key reception, however I don't know how well the wedding/shower/party games will go over. Men will usually opt out of this one, and what about children?
I can see foregoing the DJ, but what about using your own sound system and playing CD's for background music? Maybe some backyard type games ie...washerboard, horseshoes, croquet? Maybe Kareoke?
Also, if possible it would be great to show video's, pictures and experiences from your wedding...especially if you are going to Niagara Falls. Just my thoughts.
Congratuations on your engagement and upcoming wedding. Best Wishes!

Our reception will be inside, because I don't want to have to worry about rain. we are planning on having it at Fort Roberdeau here in central pa. They have a banquet hall that will definitely fit 60 people. We are only inviting family. There are only going to be about 5 kids (youngest being 8). All of our family is pretty laid back and everyone loves plaing board games and such. That is where we came up with the idea of doing games. My cousin had a wedding shower that was boys and girls and did similar. Playing games and had cheap prizes for the winners. Everyone played and had a blast. The men were into it just as much as the women. I think it was more of a competition going on. I am planning on taking my FSIL's shopping with me. Since we aren't having BM I thought this was a great way to have fun. We are going to take a day and go shopping for all of the prizes. I just wanted to see what types of games others have played and either loved or hated.
