with winter!!!!!!!
This pic was taken in December (and that was a bad storm that brought a LOT of snow) ...
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v170/165/122/716941196/n716941196_491571_460.jpg
but these pics were taken a few minutes ago and this is simply RIDICULOUS!!!
The normal snow fall for our region is 79" per year. This year we have had 118"+. We haven't had this much snow since the winter of 70/71. This snow fall just might top the record for largest amount of snow since they started keeping track.
Our snow dumps are almost full, the snow crews can't keep up and our streets are horrible ... the poor independent contractors are loosing money this winter because they are clearing 2-3 times per week.

I dont know how you even got out of the house!!
 I didn't go out ... I just stepped out the front door of our apartment to take those pics.
I had to step on the ledge of our patio door entrance and hold the camera above my head to take the pics of our patio.

When you said you were gearing up for a large snowfall you weren't kidding huh? Jesus, that's a lot of snow. I would be fed up too. We got a total of about 4 inches here. It was the good kind. It's almost melted completely away now after only about 24 hours. haha

LOL Hugh is shoveling out our patio door .... so that it doesn't get packed in.
I found these videos on youtube .... it shows how our snow is removed ... blower fills up a truck .... another truck comes along and the blower fills another and another and another .... The filled trucks then head off to the snow dumps (no they don't dump the snow in the river - it's illegal).

We have a snow dump right up the road from us. The filled trucks drive by our place one after another all day and night. They are like ants going in and out of an ant hill.
I can't find a picture of a Montreal snow dump but they are pretty cool. There are special bulldozers there to push the snow up mountains of snow and heavy duty blowers to add snow to the top.
Some local kids were caught trying to ski down some of these "mountains of snow" so that gives you an idea of how tall they are.

Two hands straight up in the air! We've got the record snowfall here since 1975. I wasn't even born then. Ugh. And it's not stopping anytime soon from the sound of it. :purplex: I need to migrate down south.......

I'm fed up for sure! I think we got about 10 inches of snow today!
Here is a picture I took today looking out our front door. That is FH's car parked on the street and the snow is above his tires!

Wow. Worst we've had this winter was on Christmas Day, with about 10 inches. The mountains just west of us, however...
...try several *feet* of snow in our ski areas.
Glad I don't live out there.

I am so done with winter. We have not had this much snow in years. This is more liek what we had when I was a kid. Every one says that was because I was so small. Nope sorry, we had TONS of snow as a kid. Back in Dec. we got one last snow fall that last couple of days of the month and that broke the record of snow fall for the month of Dec. in years. I went home to Maine last year and they get what we get just a day later. I got stuck there an extra day because of a storm with about 10 to 12 inches came in. THe snow banks are so high you can't see to get off most roads. There is no place to put any of it any more. Now the ice is building up as it warms up a little. melts some snow and then gets cold at night and freezes it all. Then you put some fresh snow on top of that and it is so slippery. I am so done. I want spring NOW!
This is the hosue in front of us. The beginning of winter.

The same house after tons of snow fall.
This is also a few rain storms so there was more. Not as much as Elizabeth but I have had enough.

I love this picture. This was taken in Maine. You can normally see Canada nice and clear only a short ways across the river. You can't even see the river now.

Call for an ambulance or just try to get out .... we have snow tires and our car is fairly heavy so it moves. The problem is that people don't seem to "adapt" and slow down in bad weather.
If we don't have to go out ..... we just don't :)
Our summers are just as hot and sticky as your summer ..... temps in June, July and August are normally around 80 or so but can get up into the high 90's during a heat wave. We seek out pools, lakes and air conditioning. You should know that we love to complain about that too LOL

Elizabeth answered it. We just go on like any other day around here with all this snow. The only thing that gets closed down are schools. I swear my kids will be in shcool untill July this year lol. It is the other drivers that I cna't stand on the road. Riding on my a$$ and not slowing down. They don't think they just drive like the idiots they are.
The summers are like Elizabeth said also. Here in NH it gets hot. 80's to 90's. We have had days in the 100's before. It get pretty hot here. I am lucky to live in the Lakes Region. Plenty of places to go swimming.

Wow, I am like lauren never have I seen so much snow. Once when I went to CO. Thats about the only thing that came close... other than that on an extream weird occasion we might get a little more then frost on the ground but that has happend maybe 3 times in my life time....
But looking at the pics. it seems more hassel than its worth. I will keep my 53 degrees "cold".
I do love the snow without it snowboarding just isn't the same, but I'm done...its going to be 45 here today and I couldn't be more excited about that

It is officially spring here - on the way to the gym today I saw a few dogwoods with blooms ready to open! Daffodils have been up for about a week and a half, and I saw three robins yesterday...
I called mom and dad (which I do every year when I see the first spring flowers - just to rub it in) and they sent me these pics to show me what it looks like there (in VT) - no where near springtime!!
