using branches for centerpeice? any DIY advice?

We are trying to incorporate branches into the centerpeice.. rustic elegance? Any advice on how to create these? I was actually thinking since it was Easter I might be able to find some branches on sale that are used for making easter trees??

You can buy all kinds of branches and such at most craft stores and put them in vases. Here are some other pics I found -

But exactly how to make it with it looking like you stuck sticks in a vase! Love the idea of hanging crystals and votive candles from the limbs.. but how?

I can't seem to find a DIY on this sort of thing :purplex:

Maybe someone else can? If it was me, I'd go check out the local craft store and see what they have to play around with.
