Time for more confessions!

Every kid has something that other kids pick on them about. One of my big ones was my hairy arms. They used to call me "monkey arms". I was always horrified.

My father has a lot of indian blood and so has the dark complexion and dark hair. Well, I'm a big ol' white girl, but got the gene to tan easily....and the gene to have the dark hair.

And if you're wondering? Pale skin + dark hair = MONKEY ARMS!

:bblol:

So I've always worn long sleeves if I could...or turn my arms up so people don't see the upper side of my arms. When I was thinking about it last night, I realized that when I drive and have my arm out the window, I will put it back in the window if someone is behind me...so they won't see my hairy arms. That's how much of an impact it's had on me.

The thing I'm worried about most about my wedding? My spaghetti-strap dress! That shows my arms! And I'm SOOOOOOOO not doing gloves. I've been stressing about this sleeveless thing since I got engaged.

So ANYWAY.

Last night I was walking around Ulta just to waste some time and I accidentally walked into the 'body hair bleaching' aisle. My wheels started turning.

I've always heard of this, of course, but was terrified that it would turn my arm hair ORANGE, which I've seen before. And it would not be worth it. It's fugly-looking.

But I talked to the lady and asked her all kinds of questions...and ended up buying it. So I tried a little test patch last night near my elbow and...*GASP* it looked good!

So I put it on both of my arms.

:puppy: It's awesome!!!! It doesn't look orange at all. It doesn't look like anything, really...you can barely even tell there's hair there! I stood and looked in the mirror forEVER...and I almost cried.

For the first time in my life, I can look at myself in the mirror and not see MONKEY ARMS.

I'm floored. It's perfect.

And now my wedding will be perfect, too.

*sniffle*

now can you do something about my nose?

Glad the bleach worked for you ..... I was going to suggest lazer hair removal but it's pricey.

Tango,

So happy you found a fix for the thing that makes you most self-conscious. Wonder if they have some cream at ulta that makes my extra 50lbs invisible.

:)

That is awesome! I'm so glad that worked for you.

Now if they could just do something to shrink my feet. I wear a size 12 so I was always made fun of for that. Everyone always calls them boats or skiis. It doesn't really bother me except it is impossible to find shoes in my size. If they made shoes to fit me I wouldnt really care.

OMG I have the same issue - I have been stressing about wedding pictures because of it - I love the close up shots of the bouquets that my photog gets, but I don't want my arms showing! I am going to try your trick for sure!

Tango, reading your post made me totally flash back to school days - kids were so mean about that stuff.

1. I am glad the bleach helped!

2. My sister has monkey arms, and my brother used to make fun of hers so bad, he actually cut the hairs on her arms! (Granted I think we were 7 or so...but my brother is 9 years OLDER!) However, I don't really notice her arm hair anymore..maybe she kept up with the trimming?

Thank you for posting!! I've been worried about this too. Mine aren't SUPER hairy, but in the summer it just looks so dark. I never would have thought about bleaching. Thank you thank you!

I'm so glad it worked. Mine is freckles. Millions of the nasty little buggers. At least in the summer they run together and look like a tan.

I am so happy to hear that you have found something that makes you feel more comfortable about yourself! No more moles, no more hairy arms! Now you will feel less concious on your day! IMHO, I thought you were beautiful before!

By the way, I bought the Sally Hanson body hair bleaching kit. I think it was $10 at Ulta. And there are a ton of applications.

I shave my arms every few weeks. I can't stand 'em being super hairy.
