my straightener and blow dryer are on the fritz and i think i need new ones. but i saw this commercial for revlon i think. it was a blow dryer that had some kind of brush on the end that straightens as it dries. it seems too good to be true and i was wondering if anyone had one of these and if it works.

I have very straight hair but I don't want curl. I just want to get rid of friz, add volume and turn the ends under (more than what a blow dryer can do). I have a conair (& another brand before it) and I love it. If it died tomorrow, I would go out and replace it immediately.

I bought one a few years ago, and I think I used it once. If I remember correctly, but hair got caught in it.
Usually, I just blow dry and go, but if my hair has the frizzy's I bring out the trusty straightner.

hmmm.... yeah it seemed too good to be true. i think i might get one of those driers with the deionizing things on the end. the dryer i have, i have had for 4 or 5 years. same with my straightener. my straightener is a conair and i love it. but earlier tonight i had to hit the power button a few times before it would turn on. and it seems like it just doesnt smooth my hair like it used to. and my blow dryer shorts out all the time. i cant put it on high, i have to put it on low so it doesnt shut off and then it takes 3 times longer just to dry my hair.
i have thick, thick, thick, frizzy, curly hair. they usually thin out my hair every time i get it cut with one of those weird razor looking things. my birthday is in august and i asked my fiancee for a dryer and straightener for my birthday. mostly cause i cant think of another holiday between now and then haha.
thanks for responding so quickly.

I have have one too. I have very thick and very waves hair. It took like and hour and half to blow dry my hair and it was still very fizzy. I looked like a stuffed animal that was put in a dryer. I ended up using my flat iron afterwards.

I just wanted to mention that I don't use it to dry my hair ... just to style it. I still use a blow dryer to finger dry it before I use the conair.

My hair right now is pretty curly and when I want to wear it straight I usually use a ceramic straighten iron. It works real well and it makes my hair shiny and healthy. It will last me all day without trying to curl back up without putting anything in my hair like hairspray.
And you can get a fairly cheap on at walmart or target and they all work the same.
good luck

If you can spring for it, get a Chi flat iron. They retail for about $200 in salons but I was able to pick mine up for $75 on ebay.
I shower at night (after the gym), wash my hair, add a dollop of leave in conditioner and braid it.
When I wake up in the morning I can use the Chi to straighten my hair; curl, braid kink and all! No more hours of blow drying with my round brush then straightening with my cheapo conair.
Once you try a Chi, you'll wonder what you ever did before it!! Trust me ladies, worth EVERY penny!! Leaves you hair soft silky and frizz free!!
(Gee... wonder if Chi would pay me to be a spokeswoman? hehe)

I have a Chi, and I swear by it. I got it for $100 at Regis Salon.

well i went out and got a remington wet 2 straight one. i looked and said "there is no way this thing can dry AND straighten my hair at the same time" so i tried it and it freaing works! i couldnt believe it. i watched my hair go from wet to dry and straight all at the same time! its crazy. plus, its only an inch wide so i can curl my hair under whereas my other one was so wide i couldnt hardly curl my hair under at the ends. i saw a chi for 75 bucks and i think the fact that i break things is what made me say no haha. i get bored with things easily and i think me having the tendancy to drop things and knock them off the counter makes me not want to spend that much money on something that might get broken. plus we have 3 cats and a dog. so its not worth it for me at least. i really like this straightener though. it has 3 settings; one for dry, one for damp and one for wet. it heats up in like 30 seconds too. :) thanks for all your advice though. i might look at a chi next time when this straightener starts crapping out on me.

I have the wet to straight one. I love it. It works really well. I also have thick, wavy, frizzy hair. It's takes me between a half our and an hour and half to dry and straighten it usually. I've had it for about a year and a half. I constantly drop it and stuff and haven't had any problems yet.

I have a Solia 1" ceramic flat iron that I bought at www.folica.com (http://www.folica.com) for about $85. It has rounded plates so I can curl or flip with it also.

i highly recommend T3 blow dryers and straighteners. They are on the expensive side but they have a one year wuarantee. the T stands for tourmaline which is tiny crystals made inside the ceramic ionic piece of the iron and makes your hair shiny and really nice! theres a blow dryer called the featherweight which is SOOO light and dries your hair in HALF the time.. definitely look into it!

I bought a brush that is a straightener. It's shaped just like a regular straightener, but is a brush with bristles on both sides and you clamp your hair in between paddles of the brush and brush while you blowdry. I love it!! It straightens as well as a straightener but is not as bad for your hair. Btw, I got it at Wal-Mart, thinks it's a Conair product.

I just skimmed the thread here but the topic reminded me of when I use to iron (with a real clothes iron) my hair straight back in the day :bblol:
If you want to straighten your hair now there are better options ;) For temporary looks you can use a flat iron (for those not in the know, this is sort of like a curling iron, but with flat heat plates) or in some cases you can just brush it out and blow dry it straight. If you want something more permanent you can get a straightener treatment just like a curly perm.

i bought one. Used twice... then never again. just not good for naturally curly/frizzy hair. I use their 2" Gold plated ceramic straightener...its going on 2 years now and it still kicks!
