Well, all is well in Carrie-land. I got so much done this weekend! I feel quite accomplished. :bbmrgreen:

Elias did really well on the airplanes. I had a lot of fun, and when we were getting ready to go at the Airport, my dad was just about in tears. He really bonded with Elias. My little brother is so, ugh, though. He smoked pot in his bedroom one night after everyone went to bed, and I broke a vase, so the sound of the glass shattering woke up my Dad, so he got caught. He's so dumb!! I mean, who doesn't at least crack a window? :bbmad:

I made all of the jewelry, and 3 out of the 4 vases I need (I dropped one on the floor, so my step mom is going to fix it up).

We're cutting the guest list to 40, so that we can have more/nicer food. I got all of the candles, and the components to make the favors. Either my Step Mom is going to make them, or my Dad can bring them down when he visits in April and I can make them. Either way, it doesn't matter to me.

I got the letter for the cake topper, and found some sewing embellisment that I took all of the rhinestones out of. The plastic rhinestones looked cheap, and the crystals were Swarvoski, so they were way expensive. So, I would have spent $6 for a cheap looking topper, or $100 for one that looked great, but I could have ordered it from www.couturecakejewelry.com just as easily. So, with these, I do a little more work with removing them, but hey, I'm spending $30 for a topper that looks like a million bucks. Or at least $100. ;)

He's getting the invitations printed today. Since it snowed, we made a trip to Hobby Lobby, and that was about it.

All in all, other than my brother being thoughtless, it was a great vacation. Can't wait to catch up on everything!!

I am glad to hear the Elias did well on the plane. I was worried about the little guy's first flight. Congrats on getting so much done. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Where did you find the letter for you're cake topper?!
I've been looking for one but the ones i like and super expensive and the well priced ones are kinda cheepy looking. I could definatly make my own if i could find the letter.
Good to hear you had a good time and got lots accomplished!

We were at Walmart in the baby section, and they had these letters to hang on the wall to spell out your kid's name. You could paint them or whatever. They were pretty inexpensive.

I love it.....it so simple yet so elegant. Mine will only have 2 tiers and Im having total hell trying to find some turquoise or teal flowers I like for it and I didnt want it all white. Well.....Ive got to talk to Brian but I thing a really pretty teal colored "R" on top will go nicely with white roses......dontcha think?

I sure do!! In fact, you could probably get these and use a little bit of white sugar sprinkles to 'glitter' the top of the cake:

Check 'em out. They're pretty. You could just use the head of the rose and take them off before you cut it. Plus, you'd have plenty left over to use in decorations.

Carrie: So happy to hear you had a good time and Elias too! :D It must feel great to have so much done. ;)

Cindy: That would look beautiful! You know you could always have the baker make some turquoise flowers too. Maybe some lillies or even roses. That way the color would be exactly what you want. Are you making the cake or having a baker do it? I don't remember if you have said. Anyway if you make it yourself the flowers really aren't that hard to make. If you have any questions about it let me know my FMIL just brought me a whole bunch of cake decorating books. I am going to start practicing for ours soon. If you are having a baker and they charge alot for flowers maybe you could have them make it all white and then you could make the flowers and add them. Just an idea :D

I meant have her make them with frosting and a decorating bag. kwim? I have never seen the edible flowers you are talking about. Are they the hard ones you can buy in the grocery store?

The ones that look like real flowers only they are made with that funky stuff people are so creative with......it starts with an "F" but I can not think of the word.

Ask your friend about making the flowers with frosting. I am sure she knows how since she was a baker. It would be practically free then.:D Maybe she could whip up some so you could see what they would look like.

I'm having sugarpaste flowers on my cake. The baker was pretty reasonable about it, too. I only want a few, just like in the picture. Our whole cake cost us 117$. 50 servings.
