Soo... My FH always knew that he would be inheriting some land from his parents and his parents just recently confirmed that with him the other day. Well we were looking at buying a house but now we are just thinking of building a new house on that land.

See ... there is already an older 5 bedroom house but his sister and her five kids live there. I don't expect that she will ever support herself and the five kids so as I told FH... we will not be living there. I also told him I would not put up with him ever kicking her off the property!!! He really does not care for this sister but as I explained to him...its not about her it is about the kids. Background though... she does not take care of the house... she is really nasty... we often have to go over there just to haul tons of trash away...it is really bad.

***Ok so... DH really does not want to build a house near her but like I told him we can always put a large fence up. She does not bother me at all and I love the kids plus I think it would be nice for all the cousins to grow up close to each other. Also... the kids father is in jail and will never be there for them... So it would be nice for their uncle to be around.

The property is two acres and in my opinion that is plenty to share. It is a really nice and safe area too. The property alone is worth almost 1 million due to location. Like I told my FH... we would not have to pay for anything other then the house and because of where he works he knows many people in the building trade... We will be buying supplies and having the house slowly built. We can get all the equipment that is needed for free (from his job) etc...

I am just excited because now I know we will be building a house sooner then we thought. Now we are trying to figure out if we should rent the house we are in for another year or buy it and then sell it. It would be smart to buy it and then sell it except for the fact we may have a hard time selling it in the future.

Anyways... just wanted to express my happy thoughts : )

Awesome; congrats!

DH and I want to buy some land and build a bigger and better house than the one we are in now, and not so close to neighbors! Hopefully in a couple years we will be able to.

We build our own home 18 years ago & it's something I always wanted. As far as buying then selling in a year, realestate is really bad now at least by us it is, Cleveland. You don't want to be stuck with 2 mortgages. Be careful about your lease also if you are going to rent. Just because they say you home will be ready in 3 mos. it may not. Make sure you can rent on a month to month basis after maybe a 6 mos or 1 yr lease.

building a new house is so awesomoe because you get to plan all the things you want...but then the bills come lol (fh and I are in the midst of building right now).
We also have lots of connections and its darn handy!!!!
Good luck
You sound like a wonderful aunt to those children

I say go for it! I know we are going to build a house in the next few years and I am so excited. 2 acres will be plenty! Especially since you all are family, there is going to be no "neighbors from he**".
