View Full Version : OMG!! Another Centerpiece thread :) NEW IDEA!!!!!
So I went to my family's thrift store today, and the manager there is keeping her eyes open for me for stuff for my wedding. HOLY COW she's a goddess!!! She saved me tons of awsome stuff!!! From heart shaped votive holders, to my new centerpiece ideas!!
Now, I'm having my reception in a barn. I am planning on using old style milk cans for decorative arrangements. So when she showed me these, I just about died! They're perfect!!!!
I got I think it's 47 of these, and 24 heart votive holders

So I'm thinking about putting a few carnations in each one... with maybe some baby's breath, or some greenery. I'm open to everyone's ideas as to how to use these as either centerpieces, or decorations sonewhere :D
I'll update my journal with all the other goodies I got!

I think that a little flower is perfect for those. They are so unique that I don't think you want to take too much attention away from them. Have you thought about using some dried wheat bunches. That would surely add to the country barn atmosphere. Good luck and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

What about putting in some wheat like in Sarah's (uptowngirl) centerpiece.
Wheat is a fantastic idea, now I have to get some and play around with designs! I'm so psyched. I fell asleep dreaming about how to use these last night :D

I love those!!!! I want them! :P
I think a simple bouquet would look gorgeous, and of course I think wheat with a bow would look fab! Hehe

You can use them after me :D  I will try with the wheat and see how it looks. I want to do Sunflowers, cuz they'd be absolutely perfect for them, but they're so not part of my theme... so I'm going to try white hydrangea, carnations, roses, and daisies. (Only one kind at a time though!).

I got all of these things from a thrift store! That's the best part of it! I have store credit there, so it doesn't cost me anything except for the gas to get there and get it (1.5 hrs away). I will be posting them after the wedding

oh i so am in love with these our theme is country casual with sunflowers and mason jars and I would luv to find these!!!!
I think that gerber daisies or sunflowers would look amazing. You can get really nice sunflowers in red and chocolate shades. That would complete the barn look! And by the way, the cans are so pretty!
I love the idea of daisies. However, I went to Michaels today and couldn't find any silk white daisies! I couldn't believe it! So, I'm going to try to either get real white daisies for our bouquets and centerpieces in bulk, or find silks in bulk. I deffinintely want white - so daisies or carnations most likely since they're a pretty simple flower.
I just picked these up at Michaels!

I moseyed around Michaels for about an hour and a half last night... I was looking for contoured vases when I found those, and I figured PERFECT for the head tables :)

Hey Sarah, those larger ones are on sale right now.. I got them for $5 and some change a piece, and the original price was I think like $14 something.

I tried the wheat look in them and it didn't sit right with me... so I'm trying to figure out what to put in them. I'm thinking white daisies - it has to be something white.. I wish there were white sunflowers! LOL.
Alright, so I finally got a little time to play around with my centerpieces today. I only messed with the milk tins, and didn't touch the glass dishes... so here's what I came up with. The tables will have black tablecloths, blue swatches of material (the one in the pic) under each centerpiece.
Here's a pic with real as well as chocolate rocks and white daisies:

Then here's with the chocolate rocks only, and I think I like it this way better. I'm thinking about putting a votive holder of some sort of munchies on the table, maybe 3 per table... we'll see, but this is the one I like so far:

It'll help to set it up with the real linens and stuff, but for now this'll have to do. I'm not sure what flowers I'm going to go with, but I deffinitely want white on the tables. I priced out sunflowers and they're pretty pricey! I couldn't believe it!
