View Full Version : Medical Emergency - Yeah Right!

I'm getting really sick of online sellers claiming they have a "medical emergency" every time they don't send you what you ordered when they're supposed to.
This first happened on Ebay when I was ordering the foam stars we're going to use in our wedding. The seller claimed she had narcolepsy and was reacting badly to her medication...so it took her 2 MONTHS to send me the WRONG ITEM.
And now an online retailer in the UK has suddenly been rushed to the hospital after not sending me my tiara for over a MONTH.
Come on! That is the oldest excuse in the book and I'm getting sooo tired of it!

Hey--you should be more sensitive. Medical emergencies DO happen you know!
...like to me, about once a semester....when I have one too many essays due in a week....
Teehee. I think it's a pretty lame excuse too. I'm sure sometimes it is legit, but come on! Especially after 2 months.

Sorry to hear of your troubles; I hate it when it seems like people are nothing but excuses too :purplex:

The downfall to not dealing with people face to face. You just have to rely on their word, and yes sometimes it is SO frustrating isn't it?! Hang in there, hun.

That really sucks. :( When someone says they are going to do something, they should just do it and get it over with, right??? That'd be easier, you would think, then dealing with annoyed people later =/ . I'm sorry you have to go through it, though. Hope it works out!

*clears throat* ..... hey hey hey .... but what about the sellers that go way and above the call of duty? huh huh huh? :)
I happen to know one seller who is going to be up until at least 2 or 3 this morning because a client ABSOLUTELY needed something for their wedding but then took their time getting the necessary info to said seller. This seller has two days to get something done that normally takes a week.
I happen to know this seller will never use the sick excuse unless she/he is actually sick.
*this seller shall get off her soap box now*
BTW - the best "revenge" in your case is to post a negative feedback. Make it straight forward, avoid exclamation points - Vendor took over a month to ship item. Would not recommend this vendor.

The first one I ended up not leaving feedback for, since she did give me a full refund and let me keep the incorrect item (which I can still use - just not exactly how I'd originally intended). But if this new one (that's not through Ebay) doesn't shape up they're gonna be getting nasty reviews all over the internet! :bbmad:

I totally hear you on this one. I have a BM who has been taking medication for 4 months now, and she uses it for everything. She recently was bad mounthing me (which I never thought she could do to me, this is suppose to be my best friend, and I have been so understanding and supportive of her), and she sent an email that was not intended to come to me. When I called her to talk to her about it, she used her medicatation as a crutch and turned the whole thing on me. Telling me that her bf is concerned with what the conversation has done to her health. I did not even yell or raise my voice and I am the one who has to say sorry? I feel ya

That is messed up girl! She needs to take responsibility for her actions, medicated or otherwise - they were still HER CHOICE.
I am getting angrier at this company with each passing day. I emailed them Sunday, the 17th. On Tuesday they gave me the story about the hospital and said they'd contact me the next day. I figured I'd play their game so wrote 'em back saying I hope she recovers quickly and look forward to hearing further. I have STILL not heard anything further and I emailed them AGAIN this morning reminding them. If I still haven't heard anything by Monday, I'm filing that complaint with PayPal and getting my money back.
It makes me SO upset though, because that's the only place I've found that particular tiara and it's the PERFECT one for me :(

she just wrote to everyone to say she is not attending my shower. Can you believe this? I am not only hurt anymore about her behavior but now I am just done with her BS.

Did she even give a reason why? Or was it more "I'm too sick" crap? Sounds to me that she's got a bad case of "foot in the mouth" after accidentally sending that email to you and is too embarrassed and stubborn to apologize for it and make things right. You don't need someone like that having any part of your big day. At this point she's so unreliable that she'd probably flake out at the last minute anyway. Grrrrrrr.
I sent that company one final email today letting them know exactly what will happen if they don't appease me. Doubt it'll make a difference, but had to give it one more try...I want that dang tiara!

It certainly isn't the way to run a business .... or at least stay in business for long.
If she has the funds in her paypal account, you will be reimbursed. If not, they will freeze her account.

If she has the funds in her paypal account, you will be reimbursed. If not, they will freeze her account. So there's a chance that I may not even get my money back? Geez, this sucks!! They should take it back out of whatever account she withdrew it to (if she withdrew it)! Grrr grr grr.

She never did respond, so now the dispute has been escalated to a claim. Here's hoping I get my money back!!

No, I am saying that you will get your money back.
If PayPal freezes her acccount, she can't just open another PP account and continue doing business. If she tries that, she also needs a new bank account number and a new credit card number to attach to that account (you can't set up more than one PP account using the same bank account number or credit card number). All this means is that it would be a MAJOR hassle for her to do this just to save herself from refunding you $50 or less.
PayPal will freeze her account until there are enough funds in there to pay you back. In the meantime, she can't withdraw anything from the account.
If she has gone out of business altogether ....... well then, you may be out of luck.

Do you have a picture of the tiara? I've seen lots while looking for other wedding things online, if you have a picture I can go through my sites and see if I can find it, or something close.

These are not your tiara, but I tried to look at ones from the only tiara site I really trust (there are a lot of scam sites who sell cheap crappy ones), and these one had similar lines (reminding me a little of rainbows):

If I see your tiara online somewhere else, I'll post the URL for you!

Does it matter where it comes from? Canada, US, UK? I have some links from Canada and the US, so I thought I'd ask if it matters where it comes from.

I've had the most trouble with the UK for some reason, so I try to stay away from them...but if there was a reputable site there, I'd give it another try.

None of these are the same as the one you posted (which is gorgeous, btw...) but maybe something among their selection would work. I've always had the best luck with these people.
Edited to add: They're out of Oregon.
