We are paying around $2000 (Canadian), which includes a dj, an mc, lighting, video screens, microphone for the ceremony, plus extras (ie. fog for our entrance, etc).

We are paying $400 for a 4 piece band and dj to work through the reception. Normally it woul dbe far more than that but the band leader and dj is a close family friend of Sean's parents so we are getting a little bit of a break. But what everyone else is paying sounds well within range to me.

I am paying $350 for 3 hours and $50 for each additional hour we want him to stay. And the time doens't start untill the bride and groom arrive. Which I thought was realy cool.

My dj is included with the reception site price. But that sounds reasonable. 5 years ago my FSiL payed $400 for her wedding dj.
Definatly a no on the chicken dance and YMCA!!! lol!

Joe and I just got lucky with our DJ. I forgot that my friend's FH is a DJ on the side. He told me at her bridal shower that he normally charges $85/hour, but since he knows us, he'll do it for $50/hour! woohoo!!

I got a quote recent for $550 for 6 hours and $75.00 each additional hour, so your quote sounds about right.
