Sunday afternoon, three GSU students were traveling back to Statesboro on I-16 on their way back from an engagement party in Atlanta. Apparently, a white car tried to merge into their lane, causing the driver to lose control, although they did not make contact. All three girls were ejected from the 4-runner. Two of them died on the scene. They were from my hometown and were extremely popular.
The third girl was taken to a hospital in Savannah and remained in critical condition. I just checked the website for our local paper, and they updated about 20 minutes ago stating the third girl passed away tonight. She was from Warner Robbins.
All three girls were best friends and were members of Kappa Delta sorority. They ranged in age from 20-22. The driver of the white car left the scene.
