Has anyone else on the list gone through Men's Warehouse for their tuxedos lately? Evidently they just merged with another tuxedo supplier and all their styles changed. We had placed our order with them back in November for our March wedding. Got prices of $99.00 for each tux, with the ring bearer's free cause we ordered 12.
Now three of my groomsmen, only in one store location, have been given a hard time about the price. They are being told the price for the tux is now $135 and are being told that the style is not available. Not only that, all three were treated really rudely by the manager of the store. He told them he didn't know anything about the order and couldn't help them. I have to go down there an see what is going on, but our other groomsmen in Michigan, Virgina, New Jersey, and New York have had no trouble at all with prices or the style we ordered.
I have all the documentation, and had given them a printed list of each groomsmen, the state they would be ordering from, and phone numbers in case there were any issues, because we are having all the tuxedos shipped to one location and one of the groomsmen is picking them all up and bringing them to rehearsal so that everyone can try them on. If there are issues, the store is minutes away and we'll have time to get stuff fixed if there are issues.
Just wondering if anyone else has run into a problem with them lately. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm; are you saying your GM are going to a different location than the one you originally went to? I would guess that not all locations may have the same styles and may have different prices.

You'd think if there was a chance for a problem it would be at one of the out of state locations, but these 3 all went to our local location and had the problem - all the others were taken care of without any problems.

Men's warehouse merged with the David's bridal line in Tux.
Jacob just rented his tux there for $119 and the sales person said if he said it wasn't for a wedding they wont charge him the extra charge.

See now, that is just crappy :purplex: I have merchants that upcharge things just cause it is a wedding :snide: I would start telling people it is just for a party :p

I also have a complaint about mens warehouse. Sorry this is long. FH and I went there about a month ago. We have an odd situation as we are having a cruise wedding, the lady on the phone said they do 1 and 2 week rentals for cruise/destination weddings but couldn't give us a price over the phone because of different styles etc. She asked if we wanted to make an appointment so we said yes. Fh had planned on buying a tux if it was cheaper to buy than do a week rental. Well we go to our "appointment", the lady in the store was very confused as to how we got an appointment because they don't do appointments. So we start asking about week rentals and NO ONE would answer the question!! A few people said no we don't do week rentals, a manager said we do week rentals but wouldnt talk about it, he wouldnt give us a price or anything. Then the guy we were working with critisized our wedding plans, he asked why we were doing that and he had never heard of having a destination wedding (YOu work at a tux shop and don't know the first thing about weddings?)
So we started looking at tuxs to buy. The guy said they started at $199, but the ones they had in the store were no where near that price. Then the lady who was also workign with us critisized my color choices (red and silver), and how FH and groomsmen plans on wearing a silver vest, she said NO the groom wears white vest and the groomsmen wear the same color as the bridesmaids. I told her its my wedding they will wear what I want and we left. Talk about a BAD experience. By the way we are just renting from the cruise line, I NEVER want to go into a tux shop again.

My FH ended up buying a suit from Men's Warehouse instead of renting a tux. The sales lady was a bit pushy - that's for sure - but she was nice. But the second time he went back (with his mom) to buy a shirt and tie the salesman gave them a really hard time - criticizing their choices and basically saying they had bad taste. I don't think we'll be going back there again!

We went there the other day and yes their tuxes were over $130.00 and if I remember correctly I think that was already including the 20.00 off promotion that they have going on right now.
We walked right out of there and went to the other end of the mall... We went to Michaels formalwear and their prices are much better! We are getting a really nice tux which is only costing us $80.00 which includes the tax. That includes the pants.. shirt..vest..tie..bowtie..cumberland..etc.
Plus if you purchase 5 or more tuxes you get one free.

We've been debating between Mens Wearhouse and S&K Menswear, so this is definitely good to know!

We rented tuxes from the Men's Wearhouse last year and didn't have any problems at all. They even accomodated my request that my DH wear a white vest and burgundy tie.
In fact, DH's shoes came in scuffed. They had an employee bring the replacement shoes to the church on the day of the wedding.
We were both very very happy with them.

I thought Men's Wearhouse was merging with After Hours. We stopped in the day after Thanksgiving to Men's Wearhouse and they wouldn't even show us their tux catalog, said it would all be changing come January 1st. So we went two doors down to Du Bois Formalwear and got tuxes with shoes and pocket squares for $119/each. We're very happy with DuBois! We purchased a suit for FH at Men's Wearhouse about two years ago and had a really good experience, which is why we went back to rent a tux. But it didn't work out for us because they couldn't show us anything. Good luck getting everything straightened out!

We are getting our from Men's Warehouse. We signed up at a bridal expo so they are honoring their price. The guys are only paying $72 for theirs. The person that handles the rentals at the one we are using is great.

We just had the third groomsman call us back - he negotiated with them and got a better deal on his tux than we were quoted. He ended up paying $80.00 for his, under my contract which was for $99 per tux.
I'm ready to hit the roof. If one of them got this price, then we all should have - making a stop in there tomorrow with a copy of his receipt to find out what on earth they think they are doing.
Maybe we'll get this straight and get a refund to the rest of my men. I hate this. Only 2 weeks till the wedding - would rather just worry about the final details and not the ones I took care of three months ago - but that's the way it goes.
Thanks for the input ladies. I'll let you know how this turns out.

We went to MW for the tuxes, only because we had 1 groomsmen who lived out of town and it was the only tux place anywhere near his place.
They did merge with After hours, but we had no problems. Then the guy who was out of town told us he wasnt going to be coming... so it made going the more expensive route even more pointless..

Well, I went in and talked to the guy who set us up to begin with. He acted like he didn't even remember us coming in (odd, he remembered us a week and a half ago when we took FH's son in for his fitting - even called FH by his name )
I asked to speak to the manager, who of course wasn't in. I left my business card for him to call me, needless to say he never did. So I went back in and asked for the manager - who was there.
I showed him our overall order, showed him the receipt from the last GM who was given the larger discount, then told him about how rude two of my GM had been treated and the price they were told they had to pay.
He actually told me that he couldn't be held to the price we were given months ago because of the merger, styles changing etc etc etc. I asked him if he was going to honor our order, the style we chose, etc. He said that he had confirmed that we would be getting our tuxes in the style we ordered, but that he could not guarantee prices.
Then he told me that he gave the other groom the lower price because that GM's son is getting married in July and he wanted to give the guy a deal so that he'd come back and rent his son's tuxes through MW. Evidently this wedding in July will have 20 + tuxes to be ordered.
I hit the roof - this is the most tacky thing I've heard of. I told him I was writing to the State Attorney General's office of Consumer Affairs and report them for price gouging and unfair business practices. They signed a contract with me via the receipt, for the prices we were given, and if they offer a lowest price to one, we'll get the lower price for all. With the documentation I have, they will be investigated for bait and switch - and for some reason when I used that term, he changed his tune big time. He said that refunds would be given on the day the tuxes are picked up. I gave him the name of my guy who will be picking up the tuxes, and told him we were picking them up two days before the wedding and they all better be here on time.
Now I find out that the ring bearer went in to get his tux fit and they are charging that mother $130.00 even though our ring bearer was supposed to get a free tux. And they were told that the tux would not be shipped to Raleigh, that they'd have to pick it up and bring it with them. All the tuxes are supposed to be shipped here. They are already paying for a Jr. BM dress, shoes, purse, and for their travel from Atlanta. They both have to take two days off work to be here for the rehearsal and then get home after the wedding.
I am sooooooo mad - So now I'll have to go back into the store, demand that the manager call the store in Atlanta and work out the details while I stand there.
Lord - what if they don't ship all the tuxes here and they are sent to the local stores ! I'm glad we're picking them up two days ahead of schedule. That will give us time to get it worked out.
Arrrrgggghhhhhh
