I just put this in my journal, but thought I would put it here too...
I have been planning on copying this centerpiece for my reception tables:

Well, I just got my samples of wheat today and finally got to play around with them!

They were way bigger than I thought, and I am hoping that means I don't have to order as many sheaves to do all the centerpieces!

I broke up two bundles (one green and one gold) into about 5 smaller bunches, with the two colors mixed together and then but all 5 bunches together, tied with a wire and then wrapped the wire with ribbon - it took me about 10 minutes - seriously. I had no idea it would be so easy! If anyone is doing a fall themed reception I recommend trying these for sure!

My mom had suggested including some lavender, so I tried it, but I think I like it better without...

Also - I am hoping to use wider ribbon, and probably not white. I am not sure what color to use though. It just seems like white stands out too much. I was planning on using 4 bunches to make one centerpiece, and these pictures only use two, so I might try another one and see what it looks like - it is going to be huge!

I love this!! I love both versions that you did...the lav. adds a little more color and looks amazing and the one without the lav. looks great too!! Great job, it looks just like the inspiration pic!

Try ivory ribbon so that it's still neutral but doesn't stand out quite as much as the white.

You did an excellent job!
What are your wedding colors? I see that you are getting married in Sept, so if they are autumnish - for the ribbon you could use gold, or a wheat color, a soft muted green - like a light olive (cant remember the exact name). I have an arrangement that I bring out in fall for my home and I have a sheer gold ribbon with swirls of sparkly/glittery copper, that I like. I've also see a deep chocolate brown which is a nice contrast. It all depends on your what you like and what other colors you are having.

Thanks!
I got the wheat at this place:

They have a TON of different kinds of grasses, wheat, dried flowers, etc...
I am not sure about their prices compared to other places, but then again, I couldn't really find any other places!

My colors are wheat (duh :)), sage, and cream - I tried playing with the ribbon color in photoshop to see what other ones would look like...

You did a fantastic job!
Green ribbon would be cool! Actually any ribbon would be great!
I think the green looks best.. it's the exact same color from what I can tell. The gold and brown are a little off. :D Great job!!!!

That is exactly what I was thinking! - I am going to end up with a ton of left over wheat so I think I am going to try lining the aisle with the extra - just tie bunches to the chairs on the end...
To make one centerpiece I used two "bunches". I am planning on ordering two cases (about $75 each) - each with 20 bunches - one of the green and one of the gold wheat. I only need 10 centerpieces so I will be able to play with the rest...hmmm maybe use some on my arch too...
The bunches I got were about 2 1/2 feet tall - I didn't see an option for different heights...

Looks great; I like the sage ribbon, or maybe an ivory/cream one.
Definitely should post in your community album (http://www.onewed.com/WeddingPictures/);)

Where did you buy the wheat for your centerpieces?
I'm not sure where Sarah purchased the wheat, but I know you can get it at Michaels, or if you want to shop online, try www.save-on-crafts.com

I ordered birch branches from this company and they were really easy to work with.
http://www.driedflowersrus.com/dried-wheat-bearded-triticum-c-40.html
Since they sell wholesale lots, you will have to buy the wheat by the case, but it is about $80 for 20 sheaves, so that isn't too pricey!

You did a great job. I also tried to make this centerpiece for my daughters fall wedding. I've been doing crafts for years and thought I was pretty good, but I had a problem making the spiral. Could you give me any pointers. I found instruction on the Martha Stewart site, but still had problems. Any help thank you
