FH is in charge of hiring another student worker for our department here on campus. All of these girls are coming in ALL dressed up. They come in wearing their high heels and suits and everything, and it's all I can do not to laugh. (I know, I'm mean...)

We work in one of the dirtiest, most thankless jobs on campus (the post office). Our dress code is jeans and t-shirts (unless you're full time, which would require jeans or khakis and a polo...it's REALLY casual) because many of the packages we handle are dusty, dirty, etc. You do NOT want to wear nice clothes here!

He said that when he takes them on a tour of the building and when they find out the job requires them to box mail for students, their faces say it all. (The HR office requires that the job be listed as a clerk of sorts, so it's not our fault that these people have no idea before they come what they are getting into.)

I wish I had a camera for this last girl's expression... :bblol:

I would at least try to get some sort of idea of what type of clothes people at this job wear, KWIM? Call even, and ask if there is a dress code. I've always heard that while it doesn't look good to underdress for an interview, it doesn't look good to be overdressed, either. I think I would get a kick out of the girls, too, though!

I can totally understand that one! My job is inordinately messy (more mud and gunk than any one person should see in a lifetime) and it always amuses me when I see young women interview for the position in their nicest dress suit, hair perfect, makeup perfect, nails perfectly trimmed and painted. Heh...if only they knew.

FINALLY a guy interviewed this morning and was dressed "appropriately." LOL He seems really eager and laid back, but I had a hard time reading his expression...guys. Hehe.

And the girl yesterday had a leather messenger bag. How could I not mention that, too?!?! It was definitely NOT for her textbooks and such.

It should be very interesting to see which person he hires.
