Has anybody here actually ordered from House of Brides.com ? In the eternal search for bridesmaid dresses that will match or complement my Edwardian replica wedding gown, I saw a lot of dresses there that *I* like and that I think my maids will like, but I have significant reservations ordering a gown sight unseen and without my maids being able to try it on!!!!!

Does anybody know if the BM dresses that houseofbrides has can be found live and in person somewhere? Because really, that would be ideal -- have my maids try them on in person at the boutique, and THEN buy them from the online discount house!

Help would be appreciated. The last time I got married, my seamstress made my BM dresses for $75 . . . but my new seamstress wants $250 for a BM dress!!!! So in trying to save costs, we can order better premade ones for $125 (free shipping) from houseofbrides, but of course, sight unseen scares me to death.

What I would do is go to the manufacturers website of the style dress you like. Most manufacturers have listings of local shops that carry their line. I would call one of those shops and give them the make number to see if they carry it in stock. I do agree; your bridesmaids must try on these dresses first because House of brides has a no return policy.

+1 I agree absolutely.

That said, I have heard great things about HoB. :)

We plan on ordering from House of Brides.

My BM are wearing a Bill Levkoff dress, so they will be going to local shops to try the dress on, get the correct measurements, and then they can order their dresses. (Of course, if they want to spend $100 more, they're welcome to order from one of their local shops, too, but I think most of them would like to save the extra money. :) )

I actually did this about 3 weeks ago. I found a couple designers I liked and shops that carried those designers. I checked with House of Brides to see if they carried these dresses, and they did. So, we went to my local shop that carried these designers, the girls tried them on, picked one and then we ordered from the online store instead. Saved a boatload.
Good luck!

I ordered my wedding dress from HOB and it came two and a half months ahead of their estimated date of delivery - and it was exactly what the picture showed. The fabric was exactly as described.

I also ordered all my bridesmaids dresses from Ann Taylor and the prices were absolutely fantastic ! I would strongly recommend your taking a look at the site www.anntaylor.com and go to the sale section on the bottom left side.

The price listed on our BM dress was actually lower when we got to the shopping cart. And they have shoes and purses to match.

Good Luck - OH - the live chat on HOB is fantastic. They will look up anything for you and if you ask real nice, they will send a fabric swatch.
