I have a question about makeup for the wedding day. I am terrible at doing my own makeup (I pretty much only wear mascara because of this), but I need to have makeup for my wedding. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can start looking for AFFORDABLE makeup services? Can I just go to somewhere like Macy's and have it done, should I invest the big bucks to hire a makeup person? I'm going to my regular salon to have my hair done because it will be quite simple, so I don't need that done by anyone. Thanks in advance!

Check with Clinique, Estee Lauder or Mac -- I believe you can schedule make-up application with any of them (other co's may do it as well, but those are the ones I've heard the best things about).

I happened to score a makeup artist in my hairstylist. She specializes in makeup and hair, so she's going to do both for me. Ask your hairstylist for a recommendation?

This Maybe The Cheap Way About It, But The Avon Or Mary Kay Ladies Who Sell It Also Go To Classes To Learn How To Apply It, Some May Offer A Discount To Put It On You If You Buy A Little Bit, Its Worth Checking Into.

I'm really bad with makeup too, so I bought some from Sephora and am going to make an appointment with them to show me how to use it (that part is free). Once I get the basics down, I'll practice a few times before the wedding, then on the big day I should be able to do it myself.

Good luck!

Yeah, I got hooked up with Mary Kay, but don't they just show you how to do it? That's the one thing I don't want to have to worry about that day, because all I'll do is fuss over what a crappy job I did. I just want to turn it over to someone completely.

there are some ladies that will do it for you the day of, i saw them passing out stuff at the bridal show. they will do yours and your bridal party.

I ended up splurging and getting airbrush makeup done the day of the wedding. IMHO the $70 was totally worth it for me because I am never happy with how I do my makeup. I told the lady that I wanted a natural yet special wedding look and I think that I got just that.

I suggest this, too. They usually learn it all when they go to school, I think. My regular stylist is doing my hair as well as my make-up on my big day.

I'm still looking also, I'm NOT doing my own! LOL The only thing I am worried about with Mary Kay is that most of the ladies are older and I would be afraid that they won't apply it how I want them too. Kinda like the 40 year old woman that cuts your hair like it's 1992!

That's exactly what I'm worried about with Mary Kay. I've had one meeting with her, and she's young and very nice, but looking at her makeup, I was not impressed. I think I'll talk to my stylist when I go in next and see if she can help or maybe the salon knows someone.

MAC does it for free here. they TRY to sell you a product AFTER but your not obligated to buy it.. I got mine done for my engagement party and i paid her a 10 dollar tip and had INCREDIBLE makeup (Pics are in my journal) All night people kept saying "your makeup looks incredible"

I might just ask my friend to do mine.. I NEVER wear makeup because.. Well.. its a waste of money, lol. That and it makes me break out (worse). That or sneak into Macy's and hope they don't ask why i have my hair done!

well, i'm horrible to so i have asked my sister to do it for me, after i get my hair done for a trial we are going to buy some make up and try different things and to see how it will look with my hair and everything...so you should maybe check with your fam or bridal party too to save money or take a class

OMG, Tango, that is too funny!! Looks kinda like my kid did it. No, I take that back, she's 11 and does a better job!

I'm going to do my own after I go to counters for a couple trial runs. Then again I'm pretty much a makeup hoor and am pretty good at doing it, plus I enjoy the art of applying it. I'll likely get a new foundation at least, but I'm already starting to formulate my wedding face with products I already have.

I lucked out having a bridesmaid who is an Arbonne consultant. She was happy to do all our makeup. Finding a hairdresser was harder. Vegas hairdressers charge way too much. Thank goodness I found one this weekend, that wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg.

i got the bridal package at my salon. it includes trial makeup/hair and day of even makeup/hair. it was like 150 bucks or something like that. Considering i paid over 75 dollars alone when i stood up in my friend wedding. so i dont think it is that bad. Plus i wont be running all over trying to make each appointment and stuff.

I suggest you hire a makeup artist. And I'm not just saying that because I am one lol. I know that a lot of makeup artists, including myself, that airbrush and give you eyelashes as well as the rest. I don't really suggest getting your makeup done at a counter because it's your big day so you should feel special, not like another person in the mall. But, if you're still looking for a makeup artist, you could e-mail me and we can talk!
