My man and I are going to wait till next summer to take our honeymoon.
There are many places I would like to go. My question for all of you is....where did you go or planning on going? How did you pick out that place? Whats there to do? If you have photos that would be cool 2.

We went on a cruise; we heard it was fairly inexpensive and thought we'd give it a try. We ended up going to Key West and the Bahama's; it was the only cruise leaving from a port close to us in the time frame we were looking at.

We are going to Jamaica. The Sandal's resorts offer an all inclusive package, totally includes all meals, drinks (alcoholic and non), and most of the activities. If you want to go scuba diving, you get the diving for free, but have to buy your license if you don't have one already. Tours and other activities can be purchased by your friends and family as a wedding gift. You can go to my website here (http://www.honeymoonwishes.com/Honeymoon-Registry-20463-Jamaica-Ocho-Rios-Justina-Woodman-Matthew-Harris.html) and get an idea how it works. I'm psyched..
It means a lot to both of us because we both wanted to go somewhere with clear blue beaches and sun and stress free. Sandal's offers just that. I hope you find something great and are happy with it!

We're still torn. Originally we thought Disney World, then though maybe Disney World for one week and then somewhere beachy for a second week, but that's going to be busy and pricey. Our current plan is to go somewhere beachy like maybe Hawaii or Jamaica in June and then in September take a trip to disney world. Who knows what we'll end up doing though; there's still time to decide.

We didn't have very much money but wanted to go somewhere, so we just went to the Mall of America, and it was fine for us!

I'm still looking for the best price, but we're planning on going to Riviera Maya in Mexico. I'm kind of waiting for prices to go down since we're going in June! We also were looking for a warm-weather, beach vacation. We can't wait!!!

That was our original honeymoon place. We were pretty excited.... if you know our honeymoon story you will know why we didn't get to go! haha... in short, DH lost his passport the day before the wedding... hehe
We ended up driving down to Clearwater Beach, FL instead on a quick decision trip.

I'm soo confused I thought you were TTC? That might be hard to take a honeymoon when you have a newborn. Just something to think about!
As for picking a place I think I would ask yourself what kind of trip do you want to have? Beachy? Touristy? GO GO GO or relaxing?

We're doing the same thing you are.
We're doing a short trip after the wedding to San Diego. Then we're doing the 'big' honeymoon for our one-year anniversary...in Dominican Republic.

OMG that was last weeks headache lol FH's parents own in Disney time share, Disney is out for us because we are both seasonal castmembers and we actually met while working at Disney lol so it would be like honey mooning at work....but the time share allows you to exchange with other time shares. After hours and hours and days of searching them we finally settled on Harbor side at the atlantis... then we found out that we shouldn't hold our breath, so right now we are on the waiting list for harbor side in the bahamas, the Westin in the virgin Islands, and his dad also travels allot so he has a ton of marriott points, so our back up if one of the above doesn't go through we are going to stay at the marriott in Aruba, which Ireally don't want, but at that point we don't have any other choices...

Yeah...we are....it just doesn't happen like that. We are trying but when it happens its gonna happen. We were just thinking about taking a trip sometime. I totally get what you are saying.
We went on a week long trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Chad's brother owns a timeshare and we were able to pick from seven places in Mexico that we wanted to go. We pretty much made our mind up from looking at Tripadvisor. Fantastic website! We looked at the resort rating, resort location, activities to do nearby, how touristy or party like it was, etc. We decided on this location because it was active enough to give us some fun things to do, but authentic enough to satisfy our love of all things cultural. We definitely chose the right place for us.
Another thing to consider is temperature. If you're from the North and going to Mexico during the summer it just may be way too hot for you. I'm from Texas and I don't even think I'd want to go to Mexico during the summer! I'm a wimp!

I had no say in the matter. I asked DH to pick the spot and make it a surprise and he did.
We spent our wedding night (+ 2 other nights) here - http://www.chateau-vaudreuil.com/
We left on a Monday and took the long & scenic route .... he really had me wondering when the road that we were on ended and we went onto a ferry! We ended up in Picton, Ontario and we stayed at a little country inn called the Waring House - http://www.pec.on.ca/waringhouse/vt21.html. Hugh booked us into the most luxurious private suite; a converted stone ice house which overlooked a vineyard.
We stayed for 3 nights there. We went antique shopping, beach walking (lake Ontario), visited several of the areas wineries & even took in a drive in movie On the way home we spent one night at The Sam Jake's Inn http://www.samjakesinn.com/index.aspx in Merrickville, Ontario. We spent the next day antiquing & visiting the areas crafty stores.

Going to Sanibel Island in Florida. Wanted to go somewhere beachy but paying for own wedding so couldn't afford Carrib or Mexico. We're excited. It's a good compromise. We'll go somewhere tropical on a year when we don't have the expense of a wedding.

We waited until 18mo. after our wedding to take our honeymoon. Just with time and money. That's when we could do it. We went to an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was fantastic! We had a really great time.

Love that idea! Now, of coarse I would never have the nerve to have Chad plan a surprise honeymoon, but I think it is an amazing idea if you have the right detail oriented guy. Chad's just not a planning type of guy and we would have ended up wondering around a foreign country for a week with no clear direction of what to do. I'm sure that it would have been quite a memorable adventure though!
The honeymoon Hugh planned for you two seems absolutely perfect for y'all.

We are going for a week to Hawaii. We will be staying in a small town on Oahu. I agree with the comments about think about what kind of trip you want before you decide where you want to go. FH and I decided that we wanted to relax and do outdoor adventure type stuff (rather than shopping or looking for nightlife, etc). We picked the place we are staying based on the fact that it is by the beach for relaxing and sunbathing, in a small (not touristy) town so it will be quiet, and near some parks and waterfalls for hiking and biking.

We're going to Ireland. I've never left North America, so I really wanted to take this opportunity and go somewhere super far. We both decided early on we were sweet on something European (but not France), and we're crazy about awesome beer (which will be plentiful in Ireland) and the castles, and the lush country side... Plus, we've come to find out that of the European countries (which are overall pretty darn expensive because of the exchange rate), Ireland is one of the cheaper places to go. AND one of our friends has lots of info for us about great b&bs, music circles, etc. Ireland has a level of touristy stuff that I'm OK with, too. In general, I am not crazy about tourist sites, but Ireland's are really my flavor. We'll be checking out the Guinness factory, the Blarney Stone (which is at a castle), and the Waterford crystal factory. We MIGHT stop by London while we're in the area, but money (it is freaking expensive!) and time will decide about that.

We are planning on going to Hawaii, but we haven't made any further plans than that. We have time though.
If you go to the Blarney stone, take some time and walk the grounds. I happened to go there a few years ago and it's really pretty.

We are going to Las Vegas for 10 days for our honeymoon -- we also plan on going to the Grand Canyon -- I would've loved to go to an island but FH is not a beach lover like me so we are going to Vegas, which is fine with me. As long as I am with him!!! :flower:

We are planning to go on a cruise as well. We will leave from Florida and probably go to the Bahamas or the Carribean. It seems like there is so much to do on a cruise ship, I think it will be fun!
What kind of cruise liners have you guys gone on? We've never been on a cruise, but would possibly like to go one day.
When we were bussing it back to our hotel in Mexico, there were some annoying Carnival passengers going back to their port. They were all tipsy and talking about how they felt safe that they were on a bus with several other whites and not all Mexicans. I felt very ashamed of being white at that moment! They said so many other things that made many of us look at each other in amazement. When they got off some of the other tourists said that they would never go on another Carnival ship because of the huge amount of people acting just like that from a few previous cruises.

Our wedding and honeymoon was in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Great little country church and amazing views of the mountains. Lots of things to do in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area.

We're spendign 12 days in Northeast Australia. We are more into seeing new things than hanging out on a beach. So bascially we plan to go on rainforest tours, scuba diving on the great barrier reef, white water rafting, and other stuff around the area. We'll mostly be staying at BnB's around the area.
We picked it because we've both always wanted to go but have never had that chance so we figured, why not fly to the other side of the world and do something we'll probably never get around to again...

LOVE Australia. You are going to have a once in a lifetime experience! I can't wait to share that magical place with Chad one day. I would say that the Northeast, around Cairns and the GBR were lovely. I've traveled all the way around that side of the coast from Cairns to Sydney and the Cairns area was far nicer than Sydney, IMHO. I would have loved to stay in BnB's there. The people are amazing and I'm sure that they will make it quite a honeymoon for y'all.

I have only been on one cruise and it was a Carnival ship - and I have to say IF I were ever to take another cruise (which I probably won't because of my first experience) it would not be on Carnival. I found that they were more geared towards families with lots of kids everywhere. It isn't that I dislike children, but I didn't care to spend my vacation listening to other peoples kids whine, cry and well, be kids. LOL
The other thing I didn't care for on the ship was when in port, everything on the ship shut down. The day we were in Cancun it was pouring down rain and we got drenched coming back to the ship. Once on board we couldn't even use the laundry facilities to dry our clothes until the ship left port late that evening.
I think next time we go on vacation it will be to a nice quiet cabin in the Rockies. :puppy:

We are planning on going to Branson, MO. While there we are going to go see Jim Stafford, Yakov Smirnoff, and Ride the Ducks. There are also a lot of shopping outlets to go to and other fun things to do while we are there as well. I cannot believe that my FH even agreed to go to Branson (He is in a heavy metal band and despises country music) but after i convinced him to look at the website, he was like i would love to see Jim and Yakov! Plus its only about 5 hours away and well within our budget.
