Something else I wrote up a while back that I thought I would share ...
Shopping locations
The location of your wedding can affect the theme and overall feel of the day. We all know that it is traditional to get married in a church, but these days many brides are steering away from the traditional "Religious" ceremony and opting for a "Civil" ceremony.
Don't worry though; you can still have your faith represented in your "Civil" ceremony! The main difference here is just where you hold the ceremony. With the “Civil” ceremony option becoming more and more popular, there are
many, many options out there. With a "Civil" ceremony, you can hold the wedding ceremony anywhere you choose. Maybe a local park, a hotel, a country club, banquet hall or even your own back yard. It all depends on your taste and of course your budget.
It does help with guest confusion and sometimes saves money, if you find
a place where you can host the ceremony and reception both in one location. Many hotels, county clubs and some banquet halls can offer both options.
If you are dreaming of an outdoor wedding, try to find a place with plenty of shaded areas for pictures. Public parks and gardens can usually save you quite a bit of money. Of course, it is always best that they have an indoor backup just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.
The “all inclusive” wedding facilities seem to be popping up all over. Having all the services you need for your wedding all under one roof, seems like a perfect plan, right? Maybe so, but some brides are saying beware of the "All Inclusive" facility. Though this way may work well for some, it is defiantly not for everyone. These places seem to offer everything you need and sell packages that claim to give you big discounts for getting it all. They are trying to sell you on the "Stress free wedding" and/or "The wedding of your dreams on a budget" so that you will jump on the offer without question. But all too often there are hidden charges and restrictions that you will not discover until it is too late!
The "all inclusive" packages that these places usually offer are basically "cookie-cutter" weddings, often with 2 or 3 events back to back on any given Saturday. So there is not much room for the wedding of YOUR dreams. Then of course they will want you to use their vendors so that limits your choices too. So what if you don‘t like their vendors?
Before you sign up with one of these places be sure you know what you need and want and find out exactly what is included with their "package" so that you can assess any additional costs. And Get All The Details In Writing! Look over the contract BEFORE you sign anything!
We are not saying that you cannot have a beautiful wedding at one of these all-inclusive facilities, we have heard of many that turned out beautifully! We are just saying beware as we have heard of just as many that have not turned out so well.
All in all, the best piece of advice we can give you is just to give yourself plenty of time to check out several different locations before you make your final decision.
