I purchased my dress at a boutique on Saturday right off the shelf. Seamstress that works as a subcontractor is getting my dress done today.
She charged me $195 including rush fee I guess.
I know generally you dont tip this type of service.
How much should I tip her when I go pick up the dress at her house?
She helped me out a lot more than the actual sales girl and gave me tips and suggestions that really worked out for me.
Leaving in 15 minutes to pick it up.
Umm... maybe I'm just too mondernized, but I wouldn't tip her. Shoot, $195 is plenty!
$0.02

ok cool thanks ladies
I haven't done it before either, but maybe I'm just too much of a penny pincher... I see it as she charged you what she wanted for the job. End of story. I'll probably get slapped for that....

off topic ... kind of :)
I pulled into a full serve gas station the other day and asked about the price of the gas. The young lad told me what it was $1.26/per litre *jaw drop* and when he noticed my reaction he said "Oh I know it's high here and you can get it cheaper down the road but you don't have to tip me if you don't want to."
Maybe I am a ditz but it never occurred to me to tip the guy that fills my tank!
If the woman was super nice and went above and beyond the call of duty, I would consider tipping or even bringing her a little something. I recently brought a bouquet of flowers to a woman who got me replacement eyeglass frames at n/c. (http://forums.onewed.com/showthread.php?t=12508&highlight=costco)

Your suppose to tip those people?? I had no idea either. I usually only ever tip for great service.
Yeah, still off topic, but the only state in the U.S. that still does the full service is Oregon... you don't see it much anywhere else around here.
And yes, I only tip for good service, or I leave a teeny tip for poor service just so they get the hint.

I agree that she doesn't need a tip, that price is enough :D
