I was looking around and found something called an anniversary dance. I've never heard of one so I have some questions about it. Can anyone tell me the specifics about it, and has anyone ever done it.

There is a song by Al Jolson called the anniversary dance. It's a really nice waltz.
Oh, how we danced on the night we were wed
We vowed our true love, though a word wasn't said
The world was in bloom, there were stars in the skies
Except for the few that were there in your eyes
Dear, as I held you close in my arms
Angels were singing a hymn to your charms
Two hearts gently beating, murmuring low
"Darling, I love you so"
The night seemed to fade into blossoming dawn
The sun shone anew but the dance lingered on
Could we but recall that sweet moment sublime
We'd find that our love is unaltered by time
------ instrumental break ------
Darling, I love you so
The night seemed to fade into blossoming dawn
The sun shone anew but the dance lingered on
Could we but recall that sweet moment sublime
We'd find that our love is unaltered by time

Basically, the MC will invite all the married couples to the dance floor for a song. He/she will then ask the couples who have been married for less than a day to sit down (you and your FH), then less than a year, less than five years, etc. until only one couple is left dancing. Then you can give them a bouquet or some other kind of "prize".

If you don't want to do a bouquet toss - brides will also sometimes give their own bouquets to the last couple standing.
I saw a twist at one wedding. Every couple that was eliminated from the dance floor was asked to give the new bride and groom, a tip on a happy marriage, before they sat down.

Basically how we are doing it is the band's mc will say "Anyone married 50 years come dance" After about 20 seconds anyone married 25-49 years come join the other couples on the dance floor" So on and so on :)
They will dance to "through the years"
