I'm not doing the dancing. If it happens, it's going to be random and unexpected, because we don't have a DJ or a dance floor. I'm burning CD's with all of the songs in the correct order. We're going to bring our Stereo and my little brother is going to switch the CD's when it's time.

I would have used a Frank Sinatra song, though, I don't know which one!

I dont think we are going to do the dancing either. i had wanted to, but unless I move the time of the wedding up (right now its 8pm) there just wont be any time and I really dont want to be having a reception until 4 in the morning.
BUT.....if i did....there is a country song by Holly Dunn - "Daddy's Hands". I like that song.

Hi Rebecca,
I agree, I am not keen on the Butterfly kisses either. I think probably because it was sooo over played!
I was going to post the web address, but I am not sure if I am aloud to. So here are a few suggestions; My Father's Eyes-Eric Claptan
Unforgetable-Natalie Cole/Nat King Cole
Always-Bon Jovi

Beautiful in my Eyes-Joshua Kadison ( I attached the Lyrics)
You're my peace of mind in this crazy world.
You're everything I've tried to find, your love is a pearl.
You're my Mona Lisa, you're my rainbow skies,
and my only prayer is that you realize
you'll always be beautiful in my eyes.

The world will turn and the seasons will change,
and all the leassons we will learn will be beautiful and strange.
We'll have our fill of tears, our share of sighs.
My only prayer is that you realize
you'll always be beautiful in my eyes.

You will always be beautiful in my eyes.
And the passing years will show
that you will always grow more beautiful in my eyes.

When there are lines upon my face form a lifetime of smiles,
and when the time comes to embrace for one long last while,
we can laugh about how time really flies.
We won't say goodbye 'cause true love never dies.
You'll always be beautiful in my eyes.

You will always be beautiful in my eyes.
And the passing years will show
that you will always grow more beautiful in my eyes.
The passing years will show that you will always grow
ever more beautiful in my eyes.

Hope some of these help!
KMac

BUT.....if i did....there is a country song by Holly Dunn - "Daddy's Hands". I like that song.

OMG ... I am not a fan of country music but whenever I hear that song at a wedding, it gives me chills. If I don't cry at any other part of the wedding, I will almost always cry at the father/daughter dance thing; especially if the dad crys. I sort of wish I had done that at our wedding, but we didn't have a big wedding and didn't really have a reception. I cried when my Daddy showed up wearing 'nice' clothes ... I usually don't see him in anything but jeans and a t-shirt or work clothes. He cried a little too, but tried to hide it ... I am getting a little teary just thinking about it ;)

As for suggestions ... at all the weddings I can remember over the last few years, it is usually either 'Butterfly Kisses' or 'Unforgettable' or 'Daddy's Hands' they play for the father/daughter dance. KMac had some good suggestions :D

I'm using "Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)" by Billy Joel. It wasn't my first choice but my dad HATED my first choice, "The First Man You Remember" by Michael Ball. Besides the first rock concert that I went to was Billy Joel and my dad took me so he is special to us.

About the whole father/daughter dance thing ... any ideas for a song that would fit if the dad isn't that close? My bride wants to dance with her father and her step-father. Her real dad has only been in her life for a few years, they get along but are not really close. She likes the step-dad and wants him to have a part in the wedding but doesn't want any 'mushy' songs.

We talked about starting the dance with her real dad and having her step-dad 'cut-in'. So I am working on ideas for songs for that. Any ideas?

Thanks ladies :D

Wish I could help you out. This is exactly what I did at my frist wedding. They both walked me down the ailse and then the dance started with my real dad and the DJ let my step-dad know when to cut in. But for the life of me I can't remember what song we used. Sorry about that.

Yeah, I mentioned to her about having both of them walk her down and she didn't want to do that. She liked the dance with the 'cut-in' thing though. So if you think of a song, let me know ;)

Funny, I am a getting a little stressed because the wedding is in less than a month and I can't get seem to get her to make any decisions. She still hasn't picked a color! I am sure it will come together though ;)

I am dancing with my mother (my father passed away when I was little). Jason will be dancing with his mother too...we're dancing to "Your Song" by Garth Brooks.
