I'm so excited to transition from my wedding journal to our after wedding journal. It doesn't really feel like life as a newlyweds has begun for us. We went on our honeymoon for a week and since we've been back we've just been super busy moving. Once things settle down everything will really set in, I think. I don't really have much to say, but I just couldn't help starting this journal!

I'm in school for the semester and I'm really busy with my campus organization officer duties. Chad just started a salaried position as a kitchen manager. He made manager in just a year. That's practically unheard of and I couldn't be more proud of him. He just took the job as cook because he needed a job and it turned into a huge blessing for us. He's seriously considering making a career with this company. We'll see where things go for him though.

I should have pictures of our new apartment soon. It's our first place together and it's so exciting. We had our first guest a few days ago. One of Chad's friends came over and all we had set up was a blow up bed and tv set on top of a moving box. We warned him that it was still really empty, but he insisted on coming over. They finished two six packs of Kirin and too much sake while I cleaned and unpacked. We generally don't hang out with his friends and that's going to take some getting used to. Some of the things they were talking about were such "guy" things and I just rolled my eyes.

I'm great to be Mrs. S!

If you've read my post in general chat then you'll see why I haven't been on this week! Things are settling down again though.

We were finally able to go out and do something fun last night and it just made us both so unbelievably happy to live in the heart of the city.

Last night was our first Student Nutriton Association meeting of the semester and it was such a great turn out. All of us officers were there and so excited about everything going on. I was so happy that Chad was able to see us put on our meeting. He's never seen me speak publicly before and I was happy that he was able to be part of that.

Afterwards, we had free tickets to see a sneak preview of a new Colin Farrell film, In Bruges. We're on the theatre email list and get free tickets every once in a while. It was at this artsy indie movie place that we love to go to, but would never have been able to swing a 7:30 pm weeknight showing when we lived over an hour away. We love the city life! Luckily, Chad actually had last night off. We even had time to swing by our fav Vietnamese restaurant and grab a late dinner before we drove a mere five minutes down the road to go home.

Such a simple day, but so meaningful to us. We've been waiting to live this life for what seems like forever now and it's here! By the way, did I mention that I now live 15 minutes away from school versus a 1 1/2 hour drive. It's made such a difference in my stress level already.

I just came across an SNA picture on myspace that was taken at the meeting yesterday by none other than Chad.

I'm gonna have to take a moment to watch that clip later! Haha!

So I finally decided on something super simple, but meaningful to do for our first married Valentine's Day. I'm going to go to my 8:30 - 10 am class and then ditch school for the rest of the day. Sounds like a good day to me already. :bblol: I'm going to go to Chad's favorite bakery and grab him a super delish cupcake for breakfast - German chocolate even though it's definitely not my fav. I don't think that he has any idea that I'm getting him anything from there. We've only been there once, but we fell in love with it. He has mentioned it again several times. They have all sorts of ooh laa laa specialty cupcakes. When you're willing to spend over $3 for a cupcake you know it's darn good.

Then I'm going to come home and make him a pot of coffee, eat breakfast with him, and just spend the morning/afternoon with him. I want to make us a nice Thai stir fry for lunch before he goes off to work at 2:30 pm. You can make a simple stir fry look attractive so easily. I also want to grab a few veggie spring rolls from the local Thai place before I head home and then surprise him with those for lunch too. I don't want to spend all afternoon wrapping up little spring rolls rather than just spending time with him! Those things can take a lot of time to make.

I got him a sweet husband Valentine's Day card and a bottle of Bailey's Irish Whiskey as a gift tonight. He's been complaining about wanting to start a liquor cabinet at our new apartment. LOL. Such a guy. But he's not 21 yet. Sucka. On the last night of our honeymoon, the restaurant gave us each a free bailey's drink and he loved that thing. It's just not something that we drink regularly. I wanted to get him a bottle of a wine that we drank on our honeymoon, but I couldn't find the exact one so I decided that the Bailey's would be more sentimental and still a very practical gift. I almost got him a bottle of Godiva liquor because Godiva and Valentine's just go so well together, but I thought that was probably something that would be more for me and I didn't want to do that.

So that's going to be Valentine's Day for my part. We'll see what he decides to do. I know that he still hasn't even gotten me a card yet. He said that he wanted to go by Hallmark specifically because they have a better selection, but I know that they are going to be so picked over already! I guess he'll learn tomorrow. Stinker.

I'm hoping that our poor Valentine's Day still ends up being special and memorable. It is our first holiday in our first apartment so that makes it extra special right there.

Woohoo an AFTER WEDDDING journal! Isn't it great to have your first guest as a Mr and Mrs?! I like the idea of skipping school too! Hehe. And a lot of guys wait til the last minute to get cards and stuff...then they're all picked over. I got Chris' card a couple days ago and its perfect. It says what all he gets from me being his wife:

Bills to pay for the rest of his life (Shopping)
Errands to run, dresses to zip (even though I don't wear dresses), and a little lip hehe
household chores, changing moods
and sometimes strange exotic foods hehe (can't cook)I got that one at Target.

Thanks y'all. I know that it will still be a nice Valentine's despite our lack of money and Chad's still lack of a card. Haha. He actually just dropped me off and went to go get it a few minutes ago.

It's so exciting because we just went to a farmer's market like 2 minutes away from our apartment. We spent less than $20 for all kinds of organic local produce and we even splurged by buying a $5 pkg of super healthy hemp nuts. Thanks for turning us onto those, Chase! :mouse:

I'm hoping that we can continue to support the local organic community as well as our own health by shopping this way. We've been buying lots of bulk foods at Whole Foods - beans, nuts, grains, spices, etc. I think that we should be able to make it just fine. I've even been making our own breads with our handy dandy bread machine. I've actually managed to freeze away a few extra servings of beans and soups this week for cheap quick meals when we get busy at a later point. Lookie at me. I'm always all about food. :bun: :bblol:

Okay so we just had a semi early Valentine's Day. Chad got home and couldn't wait to give me my gift so we're celebrating tonight and tomorrow. Haha. Works for me. He did find a fantastic card. It got me right in the heart strings! :flower: And he wrote in it too. Bonus points.

He got me a fair trade messenger bag. I know that it doesn't seem awfullly romantic, but I have been drooling over these bags at Whole Earth Provisions Co. It's just not something that you buy yourself. They're a little expensive, but the investment in human rights is money well spent for us. Anyways, it's super cute and I'll have it for a long time. I'm happy! As soon as I have that darn camera cord from my house I'll post a picture.

He's drinking the Bailey's with some hot coffee right now. He's a happy boy too.

Well, last night was...interesting. :purplex:

Chad's shift was supposed to be from 3 pm until 11 pm. We were psyched. Usually he doesn't get off until 2 or 3 am on weekends. We were looking forward to being able to spend a few weekend night hours together. Watch a movie or something. Well, at about 9 pm I decided that I wanted to go grab a bite to eat so I went out in the rain. I ran over a curb and busted my tire. I ended up rolling into an empty lot on a dark street!

I called Chad at work and it had been a baaad night at work and they had to send people home early so there was just no way that he would be able to get off any earlier than 11 pm, as scheduled. I sat in the rain with my doors locked for 2 hours until he got off of work to come change out my tire. While it was still cold and raining. I am an utterly helpless female. :sweatdrop:

So by the time it was all said and done, we pulled into the apartment at about 1 am. Neither one of us in the greatest mood. Way for me to ruin a night!

Like we have the money for a new tire right now...

Awww poor Keely! I know how those nights go, when you are so excited for all your perfect plans, then stupid stuff happens and ruins it all! I know it sucks about the tire, but somehow things seem to work themselves out. Just hink happy thoughts (like how happy you were a few days ago just looking at your wedding band ;))

Thanks y'all! I can't wait to get our wedding pictures and put them everywhere! Then it will truly be a newlywed's apartment.

We had a "date night" last night. Chad is working 3 pm - 2 am shifts for almost two weeks straight starting today. We went out to eat free on his manager's dining card. *We didn't have to look at prices.* :sweatdrop: That's always a plus. We get $150/month to eat at any Pappa's chain restaurant. Since we're so broke it's going to be the only time that we get to go out to eat. Hey, we'll take what we can get! They own steakhouses, a cajun place, seafood, burgers, greek, bbq, and a mexican place. The two vegetarians are going to take these places for all the veggies we can get! We went for Greek last night. Yum, yum. This place doesn't have falafel though. What kind of Greek place doesn't have falafel? We thought that was interesting! Then we went and saw 27 Dresses with an AMC gift card he had gotten for Christmas so it was a free movie too! Cute movie, BTW!

It was after midnight when we went to sleep and when he kissed me goodnight he whispered, "Happy one month anniversary". :flower: Gosh, I love that man!

Oh and about the tire...I would have done the same thing, I have never been shown how to change a tire, and even if I had been, I'm not sure if I could do it! I love your apartment! Reminds me of a smaller version of ours. We moved into ours just before we got married. Except that ours is a 1000sq ft, with 2 bed 2 bath. All the apartments we know of back home, which is where we're gonna move soon, are about the size of yours, and that is going to be a big difference! We also have a storage unit here, and that is handy! I'm scared of what we will get, I don't want a shack because its cheaper either. I have to call about one today that is like $375, one bedroom I think. Anyway, this is getting long and I didn't mean for it to be hehe!

Oh, something sweet Chad did... I've had a fascination with mood rings since I saw My Girl when I was little. It is my life's goal to find a big chunky mood ring like she had in the movie one day. Well, we bit the bullet and did the "introductions" last night. I was holding Gizmo in my lap and Chad was holding Sully. We opened up the bedroom door and let them see eachother. They looked at eachother for a few moments and then Sully walked over to Gizmo, they sniffed eachother's noses, and then Gizmo proceeded to hiss. Gizmo just looked at him like he was crazy! I think that she wants a little friend. Sully hissed and growled and acted like such a little brat. He was really upset! We were both surprised that Gizmo wasn't the one who got all huffy. Sully has lived with other cats and had cat friends. We've tried to have other cats before, but Gizmo just wasn't having it.

So we put them each in their rooms and we'll keep on trying. It wasn't a disaster though! I'm sure they will be able to get used to eachother in time.

Awww, poor kitties! I've never had to do that before, thank goodness! We didn't get our furbaby til we were married. But they are both adorable, keep us updated how it goes!

PS... shower curtains... really!? That is awesome, I would have never thought to have done that! Plus, I bet it cost a lot less than buying crazy expensive curtains with a design, like we had to do! Very smart and creative!! They look awesome, I would have never even guessed....You have given me a great idea for our bedroom, thanks! :) So, how many sets of shower curtains did you have to use?

This might sound mean.. But when we got a new kitten, we put her in a cage until her declawing surgery was over, then let her run free with our older cat, Angel. Angel does NOT play well with others.. We pretty much let then duke it out so they could show each other who was boss. Angel still growls and stuff (cuz shes a jerk, lol), but Marshmallow still follows her around like a fangirl, so.. Don't know if its an option for you, though. :D

We ended up spending a little extra money on the shower curtain hangers to dress it up a bit, but it was still a big money saver. The floor length curtains are expensive! We plan on getting shower curtains for our bedroom windows as well.

Maybe this one -

Well, we decided to let Sully out of the bedroom again to see what happened. He hissed and growled, but not nearly as bad as last night. It wasn't very bad at all. So I think that we're fine. He's hiding under the couch right now and Gizmo is sleeping next to me. She keeps on trying to follow him, he hisses, and then she'll back off. We won't leave them by themselves yet and Sully will still sleep in our bedroom, but I think that they will be friends sooner rather than later. Yes, we've been meaning to exchange one of their blankets with eachother. Thank you for reminding me!

My dad just brought a huge load of stuff to the apartment. I'm now sitting on the couch just staring at the stacks of boxes where my living room once was. Hah! I really don't want to unpack anymore. Yeck. He did bring me a gift though! He got us a salt lamp. The chemical properties of the salt when heated are supposed to cancel out the negative ions in the air. Kind of like an air purifier or how having plants in the house clean the air. BTW, we need to get some ivy's and other green plants! The air in the home is 2 to 3 times more polluted than outside air because of all of the plastics and unnatural substances packed into one little area. Scaaary.

I think we'll put it by the bed. It gives out a wonderful soft glow.

Well, we had a great day together. He didn't have to be at work until 5 pm today! But he has to stay at work later now. :purplex: We got up early and went to the farmer's market to get our local organic produce for the week. We only spent $20 on a bunch of stuff! We also got two killer scones - sundried tomato & basil and apricot. I'm not much of a scone person, but these were the most amazing things. Now I'm going to want to get them every time we go to the farmer's market. That could be a very bad thing! Then we went to get my hair cut, went to some antique stores a couple of minutes from our apartment, and then we went to some resale shops. I got a really cute Bebe shirt with sequins on it for only $21! Excuse the belly bulge...Chad dried my jeans and now they don't fit so well. I need to stretch 'em back out! I need to find a different shirt to wear underneath as well, but here's the shirt anyways!

She was a bridesmaid and i haven't seen her since the wedding so I'm excited. We're going to go out to dinner and then head to the concert. I'm also going to a children's nutrition fair tomorrow. Thanks so much! It does feel like our home now. We have been hanging up artwork and pictures as we get the money to afford the frames. It's looking so much better now!

Funny story...sometimes you can hear the couple next door through the heater vent. When we were sleeping on the blow up bed at first, one night I thought that they were fighting. It was really intense and I started getting scared. After a while of listening, I realized that they were playing video games! Thankfully I haven't been coughing up a storm until this morning. I actually got up and went to sleep on the couch so I wouldn't wake Chad up. I would have felt horrible if I had been coughing through the concert last night. I went through an entire box of tissues in the last two days! :purplex:

I think that this was my favorite concert ever. It was so much more entertaining than I thought it would be. I knew I would enjoy the music, but I didn't realize how funny Michael Buble was! He's just a clever, witty guy. And oh man, I imagine he is quite successful with the ladies! So suave! Haha! I went through cycles of laughing from his jokes to being incredibly moved by his songs. We had good seats and it was just a wonderful night. I came home and told Chad every single thing that I could remember.

The opening act, Naturally 7, was pretty awesome too. It was this group of 7 black guys from NYC that made instrument sounds with their mouths. They didn't have any backup to their vocals; just those sounds. It was unbelievable! They sang soul type music, I guess. It's hard to classify their style. They weren't lacking in the looks department either. Haha. Such cuties! I like almost all kinds of music, but at first I was wondering why these guys were opening up for kind of a jazzy concert. I didn't know if some of the audience would enjoy their performance. However, I don't care what kind of music you like; you would be impressed by these guys!

It was the first time that my friend, Julie, had seen our apartment. I was happy to have her there. We also went to a popular Greek restaurant in Houston, Niko Niko's. It's like a minute away from the apartment! She is just getting into Greek food and she really liked it a lot. I was happy to show off our area.

Hey! I haven't been on OW much because it's midterm time. I haven't really been studying all that much either so i don't know what exactly I've been spending my time doing! Things have still been going just great. Chad schedule is already getting better. Generally he gets two days off a week and for this next month one of those days is either a Friday or a Saturday every weekend. We already have all kinds of weekend plans!

We've found a cute, cheap, and creative restaurant/coffee shop near our home. We've only been there for breakfast, but each time it's only been about $10 - $13 for both of us. Some nights they have bands playing there so we want to swing by sometime.

I've been super busy with SNA. March is National Nutrition Month so there are all kinds of activities that we're involved in. It's been fun and I'm proud of what we're doing. One of my good friends in SNA is meeting with a Houston politician over Spring Break to talk about primary preventative healthcare. So much money could be saved if preventative healthcare were the primary source of healthcare, rather than things being addressed once somebody is already sick. I'm going to be getting involved with this in some aspect. I'm excited to be involved in such an imporant thing!

Well, today is much better. I'm tired though. I had such a hard time sleeping because I was just so upset. I'm always asking Chad to go to Katz's at 2 am, but he says that it's too late. Then he goes with a friend! A friend who just happens to be my favorite cousin, btw. He just assumed that I didn't want to go because I had class today. He neglected to ever ask me though. I totally understand, but that didn't make it hurt any less. I just felt like I had been stood up. I was all fixed up and ready to go.

I know that this whole thing is really no biggie, but when you're hurt - you're hurt. No matter how much sense it makes! Then the date that this whole thing just happened to fall on made me even more sensitive to being hurt. I just wanted him to come home and hold me yesterday and then all of this junk happened. He said he was sorry ten million times.

Of coarse I was at school all day and he was at work by the time I got home. Now he won't be home until one a.m. so we can't even talk all of this out. But there was a greeting card, magazine (my guilty pleasure), and cupcake waiting for me on our coffee table when I got home.

Gosh, haven't updated in a while. We're doing school and work like usual. We went to a green living expo Saturday and that was awesome. It was amazing to see all of the new products and people so passionate about creating a healthy world. Chad was so happy there. He was talking with this guy from NASA that works on the team that deals with the austronaut's water usage and water recycling on the shuttles. They were in such deep convo and it was like they were talking on the same level. I was really quite amazed.

He is considering going back to school for a degree in environmental science or environmental engineering. He loves what he's doing, but the restaurant industry is also incredibly wasteful and anything but energy efficient. Also, the other day he was making a big batch of dirty rice and thinking about how wrong it felt doing that and being a vegetarian. There are like 2 purely veggie restaurants in Houston so working at a veg restaurant isn't much of an option. He's really struggling right now. Is his current job fulfilling enough with the natural, holistic direction our lives are taking? I feel for him. I have absolutely no clue what I'm going to do with my nutrition degree, but it's still in tune with our life path. He just graduated culinary school at the end of December so he kinda feels rediculous even thinking about going back to school already. Working 50+ hours a week and going to school full time would leave very little time for anything else, including us. Poor guy. He has lots on his mind.

I'm trying to phase more into a vegan diet rather than a vegetarian diet. I'm starting off with it at home, but as far as eating out I just don't know how good I'm going to do. We'll see how it goes.

Nekochanpurr
04-07-2008, 01:04 AM
Just be careful if you go totally vegan, hun!! You have to be really really careful about keeping up proteins and stuff to compensate for stuff you don't want to eat (eggs, cheese, etc). *^^* Good luck though.

KMS
04-07-2008, 02:52 AM
Oh, don't worry hun. I'll be careful, promise! I've researched plenty to make sure that I'm very knowledgeable. I'm continually learning! We've been going to Barnes & Noble every weekend, getting coffee, and reading. We're way too cheap to actually buy anything. lol. I picked up an awesome vegetarian book and it's actually what inspired me to kick it up and start going vegan. I realized that I just wasn't doing enough for my beliefs. I'm only 1/3 through it and I can't wait to get back and read more and more.

Every single thing that you eat (besides fat) has some amount of protein in it and it really adds up through the day. Each day vegans need 0.8 - 1 g protein per kg body weight. So that means that I need between 38 - 47 g protein a day. Like if I have cereal w/ soy milk for breakfast that's around 17 g of protein right there! I already add nutritional yeast to a lot of stuff for B12. Humans used to get plenty of B12 bacteria through the water supply, but now that we have to clean our dirty water so much we kill the good bacteria too. Anyways, I'm learning so much and feel totally in control!

First of all I want to say that I find your passion for your lifestyle so inspiring! I wish I had the passion and will power to improve my life-not just as far as my eating habits, but also being more eco friendly. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you how much I admire you for being so passionate and determined!

I totally feel Chad on the whole going back to school and having a fulfilling job!! I graduated in Dec 2006, and decided around August of 2007 that I didn't think I was going to find a job that gave me the fullfillment I wanted with the degree that I had. It sucks, but I really think that it's worth it in the long-term. Everyone deserves to be happy with their job, ecspecially if they are going to spend 50+ hours there a week, even if it's going to be difficult for a little while. I get sick to my stomach when I think about our financial situation while I am in school and having to pay back all those loans afterwards, but it's going to be worth if I love my job as much as I think I will. It was tough for me admitting that I made such a big mistake by getting a business degree instead of a teaching degree, kwim? I hope Chad gets it all figured out without too much heartache, it's a tough situation!

Wouldn't it be nice if you guys could like start your own vegetarian/vegan eco-friendly restaurant? I think it would be awesome! Maybe not all that realistic, but a pretty cool idea nonetheless!

I'm hopping on OW before I head off to school. Mondays consist of a 6 hour organic chem lab and it really sucks. Today is supposed to be particularly difficult so I'm nervous! This class kinda always puts me into a panic!

Thank you for being supportive! It's frustrating when you feel so small in the big picture, but doing any little thing you can do really makes a difference. If you make small change after small change it really adds up. I'm just starting to realize that and trying not to put so much preasure on myself to save the world. hehe

Yeah, I told Chad that regardless of anything else that is part of the equation he needs to come home at the end of the day fulfilled. If he looks back at the end of his life I want him to know that he made the right decision that made his life feel complete.

Oops...more later! Haha...I didn't realize how late it had gotten. (Boohoo!)

I'll have to pass along your words of encouragement to Chad! I told him that no matter what he decided that he can really make a difference. Even if he stays at his current job, he can move up, and make changes to the company. For example, it would be super easy for them to recycle all of the plastic that they use, use eco friendly chemical products, etc. My family is always saying that he needs to get in the alternative energy business because he is just so full of knowledge about it. He totally gets it when I'm like "huh?"! When he makes any definite decision I will surely let y'all know.

Yes, we would totally love to open a vegetarian eco-friendly restaurant one day! There's a restaurant in Houston that uses all local organic ingredients and free range meat products. It would be awesome to do something like that and go one step further by eliminating the meat, using solar energy, recycling everything, using VOC free products, etc. The market for that is finally starting to open up. So maybe, one day!

Oh I totally love that Ghandi quote! I saw that for the first time a couple of years ago and it has become my own little inspiration. I actually have it on my fridge too. How weird!

So maybe, one day!

I'm not all the environment friendly (not that I don't want to be it's just overwhelming) and I HATED how much paper was wasted at my old job. And it wouldn't have taken anything to recycle. Not to mention they claimed to be a very green company, and in some ways they were but I mean how hard is it to recycle?! It just annoyed me. That would've been the first thing I changed if I had finished the management program.

What made me think about opening your own restaurant was a few days ago I was watching Flip that House on TLC, and they were doing a restaurant and it was made out of mostly environmentally friendly products. I thought it was pretty cool.

I also wanted to tell you that my cousin recently went vegan and has been pretty succesful. She loved cheese, so was kind of concerned, but she has really stuck to it and said it's definitely gotten easier. Just goes to show that with some determination anything is possible!

This just reminded me - the restaurant where we are having our reception is eco-friendly (generate their own hydro-power, local organic food, etc) and they even use the leftover cooking grease to power employees bio-diesel cars. I wonder if Chad could encourage the restaurant where he works to start doing something like that?

No way! I think that I saw that edition of Flip That House. I love that show! They had like 6 episodes on the other day and I just kept watching it and watching it. I hear ya on being overwhelmed by stuff. That's why I kinda take one thing at a time. I need to take that motto to all of the boxes in our closet. It's so overwhelming, but if I just took one box down at a time and sorted through it then that would work out so well.

I've told that he could make positive changes at work, but he says that he's mentioned things and they just get brushed off. Everybody says that he's a "hippy" at work and I don't think that they take what he says about those things too seriously. He works for a big company and you have to get approval from the top to even make small changes. Even changes that would help save money!

When he first took this job he felt like a sell-out so I guess I'm not surprised that he's not content there. He never planned to work for a big company, but his friend worked there and they had an opening. The sad thing is that if he works for a small independent place then he'll make a fraction of what he's making now. I think that it all worked out for the best because he's decided to go back to school and they'll pay for a lot of it.

lize566
04-08-2008, 08:33 PM
That's the crappy thing about big businesses, I think. They pay so much better but have a tendency to make you feel like your not important, whereas at a smaller company you can really make a difference if you could afford to work there! I'm so glad he made a decision, and that his job will pay for it. That's awesome!

Yeah, I totally respect the people who pour their souls into creativing wonderful food at so many small restaurants. Chad always thought that he would work at some place like that until he realized how poorly he would be paid. It's unfortunate!

I forgot that you had those. Would you refer them to people? I have been thinking about it and my dental coverage is better since they revised the plan to have adult orthodontics! :) How long have you been wearing them? Any input would be great!

04-18-2008, 01:14 AM
I've had the Invisalign for about 8 months. I have 2 1/2 months left. I had 25 sets total and the cost for mine was $4,800. I have heard from some people that their orthodontist didn't tell them everything that might happen before they started with the system, but my ortho prepared me well. Every case is different, but I ended up having to have "bumpers" put on 4 of my problem teeth. They're white like your teeth, but they are still bumps glued on your teeth so they're kinda noticeable. Way better than wire though! After this 2 1/2 month period, he said that I may have to have a refinement period where they order additional sets of aligners to fix the teeth just a little more.

The first few days of having them Chad said that he really thought that I was going to take them out and just give up. I was pretty miserable. I won't lie - the first month was the worst! The first few days of every change is painful, but for the rest of the two weeks until the next change it's easy. Sometimes the aligners are rough and will give you sores in your mouth, but I just take a nail file when that happens and smooth it out.

It's exciting to see your teeth transform through the process and I think that it's completely worth it. Yeah, it hurts when you change them, but atleast it's more gradual than traditional braces.

Thanks y'all! I thought it was such a sweet little thing to do! I felt kinda bad though because I was so tired last night that I didn't even read any of the book. He understood though. It was late by the time I finished making us dinner.

And thanks for the kind words alli! I know that every marriage has it's good times and bad, but I hope that we stay this happy for a very long time!

I am soooo excited right now. I think that I mentioned it previously, but Chad met a guy from NASA at a green expo that we went to. Chad gave the man his business card and the guy just called him! He had actually encouraged Chad to go back to school during their first conversation at the expo and when the guy just called Chad told him that he had decided to go back to school and had signed up for classes. The guy said that he had been talking about Chad to some of his coworkers and he would like to meet up for lunch with Chad sometime. He said that he would like to help Chad get an internship or job with NASA while he's going to school. Hello, NASA? Are you kidding me? The guy said that Chad had a high level of interest and knowledge about environmental water conservation & recycling. I am so excited and nobody is answering their phones. Haha. It figures! I feel so blessed to be married to such an amazing guy. Ah, I just teared up.

And I just found out that I have the opportunity to go to the yucatan and help teach some AIDS prevention & nutrition treatment classes at a new clinic being set up there. The organization doesn't have enough funding to pay the whole way though. So I need to come up with some money or I can't go. That's a bummer, but this is a popular AIDS advocacy organization in Houston so it would open up many other opportunities. If I can get my butt over there, that is!

Wow, lots going on.

I am so frustrated! I worked so hard to make all As & Bs in my classes and then I hit a wall...a big fat chemistry wall. I mean, I made As in the most difficult nutrition classes. I learned about every disease state, treatment, tube feedings, etc and made As on the essay tests. Half of the people in the classes fail, but I excell. Then I come into these upper level chem courses and now I fail. I've never made anything lower than a B my whole life. Ugh! My average has dropped and I can't even apply to any internship programs. You have to have a 3.5 and I don't anymore. I only personally know one person who has ever actually gotten an internship so it's not like it was promising from the beginning, but now it's just not possible. I'm three classes away from graduation and they're three classes I've already attempted and either dropped or failed.

I'm having a breakdown. :( (And not the dancing kind! lol)

I guess that we all have our weak points, huh? I'm not glad that you are having similar issues, but it's nice to to feel quite so alone! I've been thinking about getting a tutor for organic chemistry, but it's so darn expensive!

Well, this past weekend we went to the Houston iFest. Houston is a huge melting pot of cultures and every year there is a huge festival here that kinda celebrates those cultures. There's tons of shopping, music, food, activities, etc. It's always a lot of fun and we love it! Each year a different country is "spotlighted" and this year it was Africa. They even had part of the focus on the taking of slaves from Africa. (It is supposed to be educational, after all.) One building was set up with a "colored only" entrance and a "white only" entrance. It was chilling, but we can't forget history or it is bound to repeat itself, God forbid.

This kid's shirt said it all, "One Love"...he was a cutie and kept dancing along to the zydeco concert we were listening to.

We got a beautiful picture from a Ukrainian artist. Yet another picture we're going to have to frame! It's a striking side view of a nude woman. It's not very realistic though. It's very colorful and more of an abstract representation. While we were at her booth a man bought two very large paintings at $2000 each. The artist was so incredibly excited. We were so happy for her! We also ate some super yummy vegan food from a Hare Krishna booth. I think that I may even take a cooking class from them so I can find out how to make some of that food. Yes, that's how good it was!

Well, I better get to cleaning!! Chad will be home in a couple of hours.

I kinda understand about your classes. I was in a program to basically "build my own major", so I didn't have to take those senior/upper level classes if I didn't want to. I don't know how I would've done it anyway. I hate hard classes, they stress me out too much. I'm glad you had a good time at the festival. That is a great picture of you two! Both of your eyes are so blue!

Wow, you got to build your own major? That's so awesome. I feel so dumb because I chose the "RD" path which is the heavy science path. You do this one when you want to go further and go to school for the registered dietitian program after graduation. I thought that's what I wanted to do, but I don't anymore. I could have chosen just the basic nutrition program and it wouldn't have been so difficult!

Yep, we were both blue eyed/blonde haired little kids. I'm so glad we kept our blue eyes, but where did the blonde go?? He looks hot blonde, me not so much!

As you may have realized, little things make my day! Chad bought me a SIGG water bottle (I know you're thinking how boring is a water bottle...lol!) that I have really been wanting. I have a bad habit of drinking like 5 or 6 plastic bottles of water a day. Chad says I'm like the little girl in Signs because I am crazy picky about my water. Well, we got an awesome water filter so now I'm drinking tap water, but I needed a way to take it with me. Plastic bottles are bad for the environment and bad for your health too so I really didn't want to go back to that. I have just been thirsty all day when I'm out! Well, Whole Foods finally got in a big shipment of SIGGs and Chad picked one out today, but the one I wanted was at Whole Earth Provisions Co so we went there too.

This is mine. Instead of "Make Love, Not War" It says "Make Love, Not Landfill". Hahaahaa. Yayyyy, love it!

Ugh, I'm just totally bawling my eyes out. I'm so sad that Gizmo is so sick. This has just been so overwhelming for me. I know that it is treatable, but it takes a huge toll on the body and has huge negative effects. Complications of the disease can kill. Just like it did my mom, d@mnit. It's the quality of life that I'm most concerned with. I know that it is completely different...my mom was diagnosed when she was 14 and it was a lifetime of struggle for her. I just associate so much pain and horrible memories to that word - "diabetes". My dad and the friends that I've grown up with all said, "Why diabetes?"

We spent $700 this past week on vet bills, diabetic food, & insulin. That's like 1/3 of our monthly income. It won't be like this all of the time though. The insulin will last a while and the vet bills were for all of the diagnostic tests and such. I know that a lot of people wouldn't do that, but we'll do what it takes. We've already had some people tell us that it's stupid, but that's their opinion and that's okay. She really was like a "sister" to me growing up. I've had her for nearly half of my life. She's been following me around because she can tell I'm upset. I just sat down on the kitchen floor and cried earlier. She came to me and sat in my lap. I love her so much.

I'll try not to do too much more complaining about it...:purplex:

Nah, it's not private! :D When we first started dating, I would stay at his house until super late in the night. Sometimes his dad would get up at 5 a.m. to go to work, see me still there, and kick my butt out of the house! Well, a few times a night we would look at the clock and it would be 1:40, 1:44, 2:04, etc. Before long we noticed that everytime we looked at the clock there would be a 4 up there somewhere. To this day, anytime we look at the clock and it's :04, :40, or :44 we say "I love you!". It's silly and I'm sure that it was all in our minds, but it still means something to us! Chad came home yesterday with a gift for me. I've been baking a lot and saying how much I wanted this cookbook called Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World. It's all the rage on the vegan blogs. He bought it for me and I promised to make a cuppy when he's done fasting. I'm so excited to try all of the recipes! The one that he wants me to make first is a banana cupcake filled with a vanilla pastry creme and topped with peanut butter buttercream. Yum. :grinhappy:

Well, the cupcakes weren't cooperating so I changed them up a bit. They turned ito banana cupcakes filled with a peanut butter mousse, and topped with a vanilla buttercream. They were amazing!

Gosh, I haven't been to the journal in a while! Here's the recipe! :grinhappy:

Banana Cupcake

1/2 cup very ripe bananas, mashed very well
1 1/4 cups wheat grain white wheat flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup veggie oil
2/3 cup rice milk (any milk will do)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp almond extract

Preheat oven to 350 and line muffin pan with paper liners. Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl and mix. In a separate, smaller bowl, whisk together the oil, milk, vanilla, almond extract, and mashed banana. Fold the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients - don't overmix. Fill liners two-thirds full. Bake for about 20 minutes. Cool completely on wire racks before frosting.

Peanut Buttercream Filling

1/4 cup trans fat free margarine, softened (prefer Earth Balance brand)
2 Tbsp trans fat free shortening (prefer Earth Balance brand)
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 Tbsp molasses
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 to 2 Tbsp soy milk

Cream together margarine and shortening until smooth. Add peanut butter, molasses, and vanilla, and beat until very smooth, 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in sugar, mixture will be very stiff. Dribble in milk a little at a time, beating continuously until pale tan and fluffy.

Vanilla Buttercream

1/2 cup shortening (see above)
1/2 cup margarine (see above)
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup soy milk

Beat the shortening and margarine together until well combined and fluffy. Add the sugar and beat for 3 more minutes. Add vanilla and soy milk. Beat for another 5 to 7 minutes until fluffy.

Fill a pastry bag with peanut buttercream and poke into top of cupcake. Fill with about a tablespoon of peanut buttercream. Top with vanilla buttercream and decorate as desired.

Chad started school on Monday...Trigonometry. He is very excited and has been studying everyday when he gets home from work. I'm so very proud of him, but I'm also trying not to be a pathetic, far too dependent girl. I miss him already. He was off yesterday and spent all day studying. I have cried for the past 3 days every time he hugs me goodbye. I'm such a baby, lol! He has his first test tomorrow and he seems like he's well prepared. Cross your fingers!

We finally got curtains for the bedroom. I love them! They're a burgundy color w/ green vines and small pink flowers on them. They're lined with crystal beads. I'll post a picture of them soon.

I was also elected for another term of office with the Student Nutrition Association. I'll be the historian this year rather than the volunteer coordinator. :grinhappy:

Congrats on the new term!

I know what you mean about missing him, Doug was in school night, so I was home alone in the evenings, it was so boring!!! But it is good for them in the long run.

The cup cakes look great! I wish that I had the ambition to bake, if I did, I would be the only one eating them. Doug doesn't have a sweet tooth like I do.

I hate, hate, hate when they close down unique little spots. I guess my kind of uniqueness doesn't pay. Booooo. We don't go to the movies all that often because we can't afford the crazy prices, but we had our favorite spot to go. I just found out that they closed it a few months ago. It was a little underground 3 screen theater in a shopping mall/hotel/business office area. It showed independent movies and it had so much character. It still had a lot of old fashioned features as it had been open over 35 years. When you walked in there you just felt like you were someplace special and a little off the beaten path.

I know it was just an inanimate object, but I really feel so sad and nostalgic! I wish that we could have gone there one last time. It was such a special place that somehow evoked feelings that a huge megaplex never can. :sob:

RIP Landmark Greenway Plaza!

Chad is doing okay in school so far. He's gotten a 75 and 85 on the first two tests. That doesn't sound too good, but it was way above the class average. It makes me wonder if the teacher is gonna curve. If not, half of his class is gonna fail!

Still no pictures of the curtains! Hehe, oops!

BUT I do have cupcake pictures. Three of them! I want to start learning how to decorate all pretty and fancy, but for now all I have are sprinkles. LOL

Vanilla/Peach/Blueberry Cupcake
My friend and I had some fun w/ mimosas while baking! Hah. I actually never got to taste these, but I heard they were fab.

Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcake
These had a few different flours in it to make it kinda grainy because Mexican hot chocolate has flecks of chocolate pieces in it. It also has some cinnamon and cayenne. The flavors are very deep and well rounded.

Cappuccino Cupcake
I'd like to make it with a stronger espresso flavor next time. It definitely did have the essence of a cappuccino though. This one was Chad's fav!

Well, our 6 year dating anniversary was June 20 and we had a huge fun day together. As some of you may remember; I had about ten million random gift cards that I hadn't used. I created an anniversary day for us to spend many of them. Okay so I admit that I really upped the cheese factor, but I made up a wacky fairy tale that Chad had to read to guess where we were going next. I made it up in about 5 minutes that morning and I was trying to make it easy to guess the stores, so it doesn't really flow. LOL

Here it is!...

A Love Story

There once was a boy who loved a young lady from afar. Unbeknownst to him, she too shared his devotion. He wooed her, they courted, and fell in love. They enjoyed merry mornings over warm spots of tea (STARBUCKS). They further strengthened their bond while running from dragons and doing yoga in the garden (ACADEMY SPORTS). Archery was a passion they both shared. They would joke that they each hit the bulls eye with their love (TARGET). Feasting was a pastime for all noble families, but they would shun the turkey legs and roast pig in favor of lighter fare. Perhaps they would dine on chickpea mush or vegetable patties instead (YIA YIA MARYS or BURGER KING). Oh, but what to wear to a regal celebration? They would cast aside their daily rags and set about to find appropriate attire. Jovial Crowned People (JC PENNEY) or Good Aloof People (GAP) should have what they desire. Entertainment was also a very enjoyable part of their courtship. Their conversations were the highlight of their days together, but watching plays in the town square was the perfect evening activity (AMC MOVIES). Now these two young adults were not innocent as lambs! Ah yes, he did enjoy a pint of grog now and again (CENTRAL MARKET for his fav beer). Sometimes they would venture into the neighboring valley where she could find an exotic drink more to her liking (CANYON CAFE). They went about these lovely habits for many years, building a relationship sturdier than any castle. When he asked for her hand in marriage, she tearfully accepted. They had a magical wedding and started their journey together as man and wife to live happily ever after.

Not “The End”. It’s just the beginning…

Despite the dorkiness of my plan, I think it's the best thing that I've ever done for him. He said a few times, "This is the best day ever!". It was just so nice and carefree to blow all of the gift card money on whatever the heck we wanted to. Good times. :grinhappy:

I thought that I should update! Nothing much is going on though. I'm missing Chad like crazy, but that's usual with his work hours. I'm planning my best friend's baby shower and Chad's 21 bday both for next weekend.

Um, I've been trying to walk a lot more. There's a lot around here that is within walking distance so I've been walking to the grocery store when we run out of farmer's market veggies, to get RedBox movies, to browse books at Half Price Books, grab a snack, go to a resale shop every once in a while, Starbucks, etc. I love it. I've been doing yoga. I look forward to it everyday and feel so much more positive afterwards. I've found it to be so all encompassing. It touches me spiritually, physically, and emotionally. It's been stretching me out and my knee feels better when I'm walking and gives me hope that I will run again.

Tomorrow I get xrays to see if my neck is healed. I hope to report back with *great* news! :grinhappy:

Last, but not least - Chad is getting a tattoo tomorrow. It will be similar to this picture, but she will have brown hair and a red dress. We'll see what direction the tattoo artist wants to go with it. Oh and it's vegan ink too!!

Yep, black ink is sometimes made from bone black which is basically animal bone charcoal. Ick! It's also used to filter aquarium water, filtration when making sugar, and some other random stuff.

Our day did not go as planned yesterday! That tattoo place is in Richmond, right next to our hometown. We decided to go home and visit family while we were in that area. It was good visiting with my dad. He finally saw our wedding and honeymoon pictures. We got to play with our dogs too. I cried when I first saw them. They were going so crazy when they saw us drive up. Oh my gosh, I love those dogs so much and miss them with all of my heart! We threw sticks in the pond and they swam out there to get them. We ran around with them, etc. We had a good time!

My dad also has some chickens now and we fed and petted them. They were so beautiful. It just goes to show you how they act in natural surroundings eating healthy organic food. Their feathers were so shiny and intricately placed and they were so playful and each had their own little personalities. They just run all around the house and roost at night. None of them have run off or anything.

Then we met some family at a new restaurant in Needville. There were 5 restaurants and now there's 6. LOL. I hate being in Needville now! Ick. The restaurant was not impressive. They spent a lot of money redoing it and it's lovely inside, but the food was bland and overpriced. We literally got 4 corn tortillas for $3! The waitress didn't tell us how much they were going to be and they weren't priced on the menu so when we got the bill we threw a fit. We refused to pay for them. Ridiculous. We also payed $4 for like 1/3 cup of guacamole. Anyways....

The tattoo artist ended up being busy for the rest of the night when we finally got over there so we ended up coming back home at around 11 pm. We stopped at a hot dog vendor over here by our apartment. It gets crazy busy at night with all of the people coming from the bars, clubs, and music venues that are trying to sober up! We parked in a lot where all of the businesses were closed for the night, walked to the hot dog stand, came back five minutes later, and our car was about to be towed away! We told the guy that we had just stopped for 5 minutes to get hotdogs and he said too bad, got in his truck, and was about to drive away. My idiot husband ran and hopped in the car! His thought process was that the guy wouldn't drive off if he was in there. LOL. The guy got out of the truck yelling at Chad to get the f out of the car, we begged, I cried, and he told us that we could pay half of the fee in cash right at that moment if we wanted to get our car back without being towed. The fee was $200 so he wanted $100. Chad pulled out his wallet, said that he only had $15, and the guy took it. He was a huge @ss the whole time, but atleast we got the car back for fifteen bucks. After that we were so ready to go home and lock ourselves inside for the night. LOL

Chad should be getting his tattoo on Tuesday now! My goodness.

This is so silly, but we rearranged the living room today and I'm excited! Our apartment is rather small and this opened it up. Here's a picture of how it used to be -

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e102/keelyhealthnut/honeymoonapt298.jpg

We moved the small couch on the right and put it where you can barely see that tv taped to a box on the left. (We now have a tv stand, btw. lol) So now that small couch is against a wall. We moved the tv stand and it's now against the wall on the far right. Before we had kinda created a walkway from the door, around the small couch that bordered our bar -

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e102/keelyhealthnut/honeymoonapt280.jpg

Well, when we got bar chairs it was all just too tight. Today I was just laying around on the couch and had an "ah hah" moment of how we could move things around. Now when you walk in it's more of an open space and it'll also be better when guests come over because the bar stools are more inclusive and better for conversation now since nobody will be staring at the backs of anybody's heads.

We're also going to get rid of this dining room table that Chad's sister gave us. -

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e102/keelyhealthnut/honeymoonapt325.jpg

It's just too big and bulky for our apartment. We're going to get a small wooden table and put it in the same place, but just up against the wall with two chairs. It will fit better and be more "us" too.

Oh yeah, did you ever post on craigslist? Gotten any responses? I've got little things I want to put up there (wedding dress patterns that I never used, tealight candle holders, etc...), but I'm waiting for Kevin to reformat the camera card so it'll start working again!

Thanks Jessica! We still love our apartment. It's cute! :grinhappy: We're figuring that we're going to be here for quite a while. Decent price, good location, safe, etc. We are really happy in this area, but the average home costs about $500,000 and the average apartment rental price is over $1,000. :snide: Sooo we'll stay here!! ;)

We have an interested buyer for our table & chairs. They're going to be coming over on Tuesday, probably. We're crossing our fingers! We asked for $300 and are hoping for $250. Of course we got a few bad leads and people that made appointments with us that didn't keep them. Hopefully this one follows through! I'm getting a much better vibe from these people.

The table and chairs are gone! :D The people drove about 1 1/2 hours into Houston to get it. They were really nice and we ended up selling it to them for $225. They hadn't ever purchased or ordered anything online before - no clothes, jewelry, books, nothing! They said they were very apprehensive, but that I communicated well with them and gave them a lot of information. That made me feel good!

Chad got part of his tattoo last night. It's going to have a lot of shading since it's a portrait so he has to do it in two sessions. It looks awesome so far though. It's on the side of his leg.

Well, we're off to ride our bikes! They are now sitting where the table and chairs were and I'm pretty sure that's where they are gonna be kept for a while.

It will take a month or two to get them in so once I start wearing them it will be about 4 more months. He told me that I could just wear the trays I'm in right now during the night though so that's exciting. It's strange though. I keep biting myself! LOL Oops! My teeth are almost straight, but my bite is a little off. He recommended getting some more aligners, but said that it was my choice if I wanted to do anymore. Well, I have some good news...Chad got a raise! It's only $1,000 extra a year, (only about $25 extra a paycheck! :ooh:) but his boss gave him a few goals to accomplish and once those are done then he will get another $1,000 raise and a $500 bonus or something along those lines. Chad said that he should be able to accomplish the goals in a couple of months. Any little bit is helpful!

He's making just barely enough for us to get by, but his parents are paying for my car right now. If I get the full time job that I'm trying to get then we will be able to use about half of my monthly income strictly to pay off debt and the other half for my car payment.

I hope it all goes along these lines!

Things are going good. I'm going in for my third shift tomorrow and I'll be working 6 days this week. I still have a ton to learn and it's kind of overwhelming though. A lot of the merchadise we sell is so specialized and the computer system is a little complicated, but I think that I'm doing fine. When I get home at 9:30 or 10:00 I just want to eat dinner and go to bed. I'm behind on schoolwork, but I am going to use this day off from work and school to catch up. It really sucks because I have Mon/Wed off this week and Chad has Tues/Thurs off. Booo, hiss!

Chad is really unhappy with his job so despite his recent raise, he is looking for another job. He's probably going to have to get both a full time job and part time job to make up for the difference in salary though. He works 50 to 60 hours a week anyways so it may work out just about the same! He applied to this environmental action group that has a Mon- Fri 2 - 10 work schedule so if he gets this then he is going to try to get a bartending job to work on Saturday nights. He's bartended in the past. He only has school in the mornings two days a week so that would work out okay. I'm really hoping that he gets it. He said that if he gets this job and people asks what he does he could say, "I'm an environmental activist!". LOL. I think this would make him very happy. I just pray that God's will be done, but I also pray that his will is what we're hoping for. :D

A friend of mine works at a local research hospital and is working on a childhood obesity research study. She says that when I graduate that she is going to get me a job there. Somebody helped her get a job so she says that she wants to do the same for me. Karma! If that all pans out then I will do that full time and try to keep my current job part time on the weekends. So I'm hopeful for that in my future!

:jplove:

Chad got an interview at the grassroots environmental group that he applied to! At first they had him doing an interview this upcoming Tuesday, but later they called him back and asked if he could come in tomorrow! They said that they had some candidates that they wanted to interview before some other ones. Good sign, I think! They have offices in Austin and Dallas and are opening up one in Houston in a couple of weeks. He could get in on the ground floor. Cross your fingers guys!

That's so exciting that he's in the first batch of interviews! Good luck to him! (and to you, sitting there wondering how the interview's going!)

I just hopped on here real quick to say that Chad goes for a second interview today. Well it's not really an interview, but they don't hire people without seeing how they interact with the public first. Today from 2 - 10 he's going with the group to inform some people about their current focus - how much toxic landfill electronic trash that this digital switch is going to cause and how you can recycle your tvs. Tonight he will either be offered the job...or not!

Also, I have my first SNA meeting of the year today. I made 4 dozen cupcakes to woo possible members. LOL

Bummer. He got the job but it looks like the initial pay just isn't enough for us right now. When I get out of school and can get a part time job we will see at that point. I'm so sad for him. :bbcry:

I'm so sorry! Maybe the employer can spread the word about Chad to other grassroots places with better pay?

Thanks you guys! Y'all are an amazing support system! I read these comments right before the hurricane craziness, but never posted a "thank you". Chad is still going to have his eyes open for another job, but will keep working hard at his current job too. Nothing much has been going on other than hurricane stuff. My job is going very well. School is not so well; I need to buckle down and get through this last semester.

Oh, btw I'm a bridesmaid for my SIL wedding in December. (My dress should be in any day!! Oh Lordy I hope that I fit into it. LOL) Then I was just asked to be a bridesmaid for a high school friend's wedding. She's one of those people that I feel like I will always have such a deep bond with. Now I have been asked to be MOH for a relatively new college friend's wedding. We've been very close for the last year or so. Wow! Good thing they are going to be nice and spread out! I'm excited. I love being in the bridal party. It's so special to be asked, IMO.

I'm so bummed. Right at this very moment a film festival is starting that Chad and I have gone to for the past 3 years. I seriously look forward to this film festival more than anything else all year, except Christmas! It's called the Manhattan Short Film Festival and if it's ever showing near you I encourage you to go if you appreciate film. Entries are sent in from all over the world and the best few short films are selected to be shown at venues across the world during one week. Whoever goes to see the films gets to vote on their favorite and the director whose story wins gets funding for a full length film. Some of these films have made more impact on me that I can even say. They are most always brilliant.

Well, Chad just asked for this one little day off this month. That was seriously his only request off and he didn't get it. We were both heartbroken and right now, like I said before, I am so bummed!

Thanks to OW for perking me up a bit!

Wow, I haven't posted in quite a while! And I see that there are lots of new after wedding journals. I can't wait to catch up on them!

Life has been all work and school for us. I'm graduating on December 20 though so that's wonderful. I'll have a B.S. in Human Nutrition & Foods. I'll probably stay at my current job for a while though. I don't really know what I want to do so I'll just stay where I'm happy. I was moved to the "gear" section from clothing and am very happy there. I am learning a ton about luggage, climbing, backpacking, camping, water filtration, etc. I am really enjoying it a lot and meet people who are traveling to amazing places every day. I got a raise after just three months and got the highest evaluation score that they've given. I try very hard in whatever I do and feel that it's actually appreciated there.

Chad's work is the same. He's still not too happy there and would much rather be working where I am. He's going to school part time.

We've been married just over ten months now and still just as in love. Last year at this time we went to the local Greek fest, had a crazy hard time parking, had to drive an hour home, and vowed that next year we would live close enough to walk. Well, I'm happy to say that this weekend we walked over there twice to get lunch and dinner. I cried! We really are living how and where we dreamed.

Just a little update from me to you!! xoxo

Thanks Nikki! Things sure are going well. Yeah, times are tough financially and some of our family drives us crazy at times, but we have few complaints.

I just realized that my post seemed really choppy and matter of fact. I was talking to Chad while I was typing! Sorry if some of it sounds sorta awkward.
