First, I would like to say Hi to everyone, my name is Connie...yes...I am a newbie!!!:D

My fiance and I have decided that we are going with a country theme for our reception. I would love to rent a barn, but it is proving to be difficult to find one in my area. I live in metro-Detroit. I have found a few, but they are all too far away...a hour drive or more from where my ceremony will be held. Our ceremony will be held at a park. There are some rural communities near the park, which should be helpful.

So far, I have friends and family asking around, and watching out for a possible barn to rent. I have even thought about making flyers, and posting them at grocery stores and markets. The few (distance challenged) barns that I have found, I found online. I'll admit it...I need HELP!!!

I am looking for ideas, in how to go about finding a barn to rent. Any and all suggestions are very helpful. Or..."if I were a wedding planner, looking for a barn for my clients...how would I go about finding one?"

I would talk to people that work at any feed stores around there and also see if you can hang a flyer up there... or have them sitting on the counter.

Also... maybe Craigslist.org could help you?? You never know... alot of farmers use resources like that to get good deals on equipment....

UUUuuummmm ... If you find one driving around... I would just get the address and send them a letter explaining what you would like to do.

**** put an add in the local paper... I am sure someone that reads the add could refer you somewhere.

I am just about all out of ideas... If I come up with another I will be back : )

Good Luck!!!! and Welcome

You might also check with some local vets and see who might own horses or such. Most horse barns are much nicer than any others.

Wow...I can see now that I am gonna get addicted to this website!!! The Fourms mostly! You girls are fantastic...please keep the suggestions comming...two minds are better than one...and in this case many minds are better than one!!!

I know that Garden City is near Dearborn!!! Neven been there though!

I am more north...I am in Harrison Township, My fiance is in Rochester Hills. He's a half hour drive from me....I'm considering moving in with him in a few months.

Our ceramony will be held at Stoney Creek Metropark in Shelby Township. Some of the citys I was told to focus on are Romeo and Washington Township. They are all within a reasonable driving distance, so thats where I'm gonna put my energy!

Again...I really appreciate all of your help!!!

I agree that the reception tent is beautiful...but it doesn't fit our budget! So, we will have our ceremony there, and capture tons of georgous pictures...then off to the country side!!! ;)

She doesn't own a barn or anything, but she'll be able to tell me where all the pretty ones in it, or at least ask her friend (who is filthy rich) who has owned lots of horseys before. :kitty:

To be completely honest, they are all outta my range (distace challenged...LOL)...But you never know, there very well could be a bride here in michigan, like me, that would be able to use this info. Thank you!

Yep! Just get the right code for it, it should be at the bottom or side after you make a ticker :grinhappy:
