we dont celebrate valentine's day. we buy each other stuff thru out the year and my birthday is right before valentine day so he is pretty good about spoiling me on my birthday instead.
i just make us dinner and we watch a movie or something. i am probably working that day anyways, so it will just be another day for us :)

First of all, I always make him a handmade card. I think he appreciates it more than he lets on. I also got him a CD. Not romantic, I know, but I wanted to get it for him at Christmas and the stores were all sold out. Plus it will be unexpected because it wasn't something on his wish list but I know he wants it.
I think he is going to take me to dinner at the restaurant where our reception will be held.

I checked with RC last night and he said that we are going out to dinner.

I have no clue what to get him actually. I am hoping for a nights stay in either the Four Points Sheridan or the Hyatt Regency in Chicago either just the night of the 14th or maybe if I am lucky the night of the 15th too... and seeing Wicked on the evening of the 14th..... BUT that is mostly wishful thinking. Especially because I know that he hasn't booked it yet, and the price is sure to go up as it gets closer.
As for him... I really don't know what to get him. I get way more excited about gifts than he does. If you guys know anything about "The 5 love languages" his last thing on his list is gifts, so he seems rather indifferent to them... so I never know what in the heck to get him :(

I also have no idea what to get him, we usually don't do much just a fun date with some friends. But I do like the idea of a homemade CD. I think he would appericiate a CD with all his fav.s on it.

fh and i have a couple of traditionsl; we always have to find the cheesiest singing animal for vday and then someone unbiased votes (we dont tell them who got which that way they dont vote on the person)
hehe its a little contest we do and then that person who lost has to make dinner the week after :) we have done it since the very first yr and always look forward to it. then we always have to do SOMETHING homemade. last yr he made me a photoalbum and i forget what i made him.

His birthday is Feb 10 so this year I'm really pushing to not do anything major for vday--I'm too poor! Also, it falls in the middle of the week and we only see each other on weekends, so well probably go out to dinner his birthday weekend and exchange vday cards. He's hinted that he wants to get me flowers or something though so we'll see.
Doug usually buys me roses and we go out to dinner. We are not really big into V-Day...usually just birthdays and Christmas we make really special.

We usually just go out to eat.. Usually the day before and after, cuz i am usually working, lol. Which works out, because Steve's aunt gave him a Olive Garden gift card for Christmas.. XD

One year I did the 12 days of Valentines; sort of like the 12 days of Christmas. I wrote little cards to go with it. I found crush soda and gave him 2 2liters of it, and the card read something like. On the 2nd day of Valentines day, your true love gave to you 2 crush sodas, cause she has a crush on you. Once the kids were born, it just ended up being cards, which I don't mind at all

We don't really do anything - this year my daughter is making her first penance on Valentine's Day night so that's exciting.

FH is on a bowling league every Thursday and Valentine's day is also on a Thursday. doh! I guess we'll have to celebrate on Friday. We usually get eachother a nice card and some small gifts. Maybe I can get him something wedding related. I did get him groom boxers for Christmas and he really liked those!

Our school is hosting it's annual V-gina (not sure if I can type the word out on here) Monologues on Valentine's Day, and it is required that I attend for one of my classes. FH and I will go together, and then we'll probably opt for a nice dinner or something.

I think I might just get him a few really nice things or maybe a really nice messenger bag as his sucks. VDay is also our 5 year anniversary.

We get each other something for each anniversary...yes each month..hehe. And ours happens to fall on the 14th:heart:

FH and I are taking a Sex, Violence, and Culture class together, and we're required to go see The Vagina Monologues that night. I suppose we'll catch a nice dinner afterwards...

We are not exchanging gifts this year. Our wedding is in 5months. I want to save my money for his ring and his VERY expensive wedding gift....a nice and fancy watch.

That is such a neat idea!!!! I definititely want to do that next year!!!
This year we are not getting each other anything, b/c we're poor, so instead we are just being super romantic! So I'm going to re-create our honeymoon at our house. We went to Italy, so I'm going to make an Italian breakfast in bed before work, pack him an authentic italian lunch to eat at work, obviously make an italian dinner and then make our bedroom have an italian ombiance (candles everywhere, italian music playing, draped fabric over our 4-post bed, etc)

We got each other an early V-Day gift - a Nikon D80 DSLR camera with a 18-55 AF-S DX lens to share. He already had a D70 and a couple lenses, so now we'll be able to share cameras and lenses :) We met a photography club, so it's only fitting that this was our first V-Day gift to each other...hehe ;) Plus he just got a big promotion so we could afford it!

Seriously ... that is not a bad idea at all. I might wrap DH's present a bit though ... maybe in some black lace & satin?
LOL although I REALLY like the rainbowbrite's early vday gift!!!!!!

I love this idea!
I've done little ones before just for the heck of it....I hid his favorite Xbox game and made him go find it via scavenger hunt. He thought that was hilarious.
Maybe for V-day, I can do some kind of sexy scavenger hunt! Like have one clue have some chocolates...another have a bottle of massage oil...another something sexy to wear...etc.
That's something to think about, for sure!! :D

I don't know yet what I am getting for him. We used to go out to dinner but now that we have the baby we most likely wont do that. We agreed that since we were not able to buy for eachother cor Christmas that we would for Valentines Day so I have to come up with something.

We usually don't do much for Valentines day because our anniversary is on the 4th and our first v-day together I had class. If I have time I might put together a scavenger hunt! I LOVE doing stuff like that! They are soooo much fun, and you can do them on any type of budget.
Otherwise I am going to get us tickets to go and see the Blue Man Group. They are playing by us in March. We saw them in FL in Dec when we were on vacation and that was his favorite part of our whole trip.

I'm going to send him flowers, actually - not all roses but a mix with a few roses in it. A friend of mine sent her boyfriend flowers last year and he just loved them - said it was nice getting flowers instead of always being the "sender".
Good Luck

I've always thought about getting my hubby flowers but have been too chicken. I think I will this year. He's been working so hard on his proposal for school. I'm going to do it and I don't care if he gets embarrassed by his colleagues! We work at the same university, so I plan on coming to his office to pick him up for lunch. Can't wait until V-Day!

We're going to cook dinner together and then cuddle up in our jammies to watch Sweet Home Alabama since it was the first movie we ever cuddled and watched together. He even takes the quote out of the movie and says the reason he's marrying me is "So I can kiss you anytime I want". :soppy:

I don't know what we are going to do yet. We are going to a concert on the 16th so that could be our time away.

In the past years I have sent him lots of balloons attached to candy to his work. I get a major kick out of it :w00t: ....and I guess he likes the candy.
He usually gets me some PJs... my favorite thing ever and maybe a smaller gift too.
This year I'm taking him to our favorite restaurant and getting him a pair of shoes that apparently I was supposed to get for Christmas. So I've gotta catch up for some slackin off.

Well I was cleaning and found a box of stuff from our first few years of dating. Movie and theater tickets, other silly things. Well, we were at Michael's looking at flowers and I ooh'ed and aah'ed over all the scrapbooking stuff. Jon suggested we pick some up and spend Valentine's Day putting all our lil' trinkets together in it ^.^ So sweet! I can't wait to go over all the stuff with him. Ahw memories.
