OK, it is not too terribly bad, but it is not what I was going for and I am upset *pout*
I have been dying my hair on my own for a while and I have been using the same color. More recently it has been hard to find my color at the local stores.
So yesterday I went out to get hair dye, but couldn't find my color. So I ended up getting another brand that appeared to be similar. Well I did it a little while ago and it is too dark :gurn:
So now since I don't want to damage my hair more by bleaching it out; I am stuck with this darker shade until it fades and/or grows out. I guess I am gonna keep putting the right red over it and eventually it will all be good again. I don't know :worry:
I knew I should have done a strand test, I knew I should have just kept looking until I found my color ... I should have known a color called "raisin" wouldn't be the right shade of intense dark red ... it is my fault, I am an idiot :geek:

I did the same thing just before my grad!! I was blonde and I wanted to dye my hair and have a tint of red!! WELLLL....lets just say it didn't work out the way we planned! I had an all over bright red color so I had to go into the salon and get it dyed again and it was a little better after that but having that bright red colored hair does kinda grow on you!! Not that I would ever do it agaiN!!! I totally feel for you but just think!! It could have been worse!!!

I totally feel for you but just think!! It could have been worse!!!Yeah, one time I tried to dye my hair a brownish/blonde color and it ended up tinted green :gurn: I had to go to the salon and get it fixed.
This time it is not bad enough that I feel the need to go get it fixed; it just stinks that it isn't what I wanted :p

don't kick yourself over shoulda, woulda, coulda :) Give it a day or two ... it might just grow on you. It could have been worse ... it could have turned green!
BTW - I have ended up with unexpected results as well because I have never done a strand or a skin patch test (no allergic reactions yet!).

See, I was just about to post here saying "you can't post this and no pictures!" LOL
I LOVE the new color! I like the old one a lot, too, but the new one is beautiful, too! I've had my hair that color a few times...love it! Maybe it'll grow on you and you'll love it.

Yeah, it is not too bad; I have actually had my hair a similar color on purpose before. I guess it is just bad because I wasn't expecting it and I feel stupid, like I should have known this would happen :gurn:
I feel like it is too dark and makes me look more pale; but I guess we will see. Thanks :grinhappy:

I actually love that color, and have been debating doing that to my hair. My natural color is a dark brown that looks black often. Last time I dyed it I made it a honey brown, with warm red and gold tones and loved it. But am up for another change! I would never be brave enough to go as light as your usual but on you it's adorable!

I love the new color! I wouldn't keep putting another shade of red over it. It will damage your hair. Reds fade quickest of any color. I don't think it looks so horrible you can't live with it for a couple months and then do a retouch with the right color. When you do the retouch be sure to do just the new hair growth first. From the scalp to the line of demarcation. (Where the new hair & colored hair meet) Let that stand for 20 of the 30 minutes and then run it through the rest of your hair for the last 10 minutes. This will keep damage to a minimum. I've been doing my hair at home for years and never do a test strand. In the salon we only did it occasionally. I wouldn't beat yourself up. You're NOT an idiot. It really does look cool. Especially with all your tats. Very HOT! I'd say own it girl and tell everyone you did it on purpose. :) Just my $.02

hehe - Thanks :bbmrgreen: I am surprised most people like it so far; even my sister who normally tells me I need to get a more natural "age appropriate" color  ;-)

I love the new color!
I must admit I've done this once (picked too dark of a color) and the end result was my hair had a greenish tint to it. When I went to get a hair cut the woman noticed and said that was a result of my natural hair not having something in it to support that color.... I had assumed it was a result of cheap dye or something.

I don't think it looks bad! My aunt usually dyes her hair too, and this one time she picked up a box of dye, went home and used it...it was not the color the box said! Someone had switched it. Before I started using liquid foundation, I used a liquid powder. I would always open the box to make sure it was right hehe.

I have heard of that happening; I don't open the box, but I will make sure the color matches the box before I mix it and use it ;)
I have washed my hair since and it is a hair bit lighter, but still dark. It will be ok, but I am not going to dye it that color again. Thanks for making me feel better everyone :D

I actually reall ylike it too. I used to color my hair a similiar color (like a dark brown with red/mahogany) and it always seem to strip out really quickly so you get that fun transition from dark to more red.
I also say "screw age appropriate!!!" ;)

Well, I am dying my hair again today. Most of the darker shade has faded out now.
I went out the other day looking for my original color again and still no luck. I couldn't even find it at Walmart where I use to get it from. It seems everyone is either sold out or looks like they are not even carrying the line anymore.
So I bought another kind again; I cut a peice to do a strand test, but then I just decided to do it anyway. It can't be that bad right :p I have it on my hair now, so I will let you guys know how it turns out a little later ;)
I don't know what to do if this one doesn't work out.

I like the darker hair better, probably because it's winter. Remember to post new pics! :)
I hope that you like the new color. I am getting my hair either colored or highlighted this weekend, I haven't decided. I am sick of the greys and my brown hair. Winter time blahs I guess.

It is still a little darker than I had it before all this, but it is not as bad as the last time so I can live with this ;)

Hey that new color rocks girl. Your hair is shiny and healthy looking. I like color and think it gives you a really fun sultry look.
I wouldn't change it - looks great.
I've been doing my own hair color for years and love to switch it up and down - red, blond, brunette, love changing it !
